COAA has officially flipped the switch - our new and improved website is

now live at www.coaa.ab.ca!

You will notice a much cleaner look to the site and more importantly, you

will find it quick and easy to locate the 26 Best Practices along with the

hundreds of relevant associated forms, checklists and presentations. Our

goal is to provide visitors with a user-friendly site and a simpler way to find

the documents they are looking for.

The main feature is the Library, which now links Best Practices and

associated documents, in addition to presentations from past conferences,

workplace forecasts, and resources to help make Alberta projects safer

and more productive. The new site is also mobile-friendly, which means

that single forms or checklists can be located and downloaded with a

phone or tablet - right in the field!

Thanks are extended to the developers at Kobot for working with us to

create the website and to COAA staff and members who donated their

time and energy to make this site what it is.

We hope you find our new website fresh and easily accessible – the

Benchmarking 101

COAA has designed a Benchmarking Q&A to help people better understand

what benchmarking is and its importance and uniqueness in Alberta. Detailed

responses are provided for the following questions in Benchmarking 101:

What is benchmarking and why is it important?

What is the history of benchmarking in Alberta?

What is unique about benchmarking in Alberta?

How is productivity benchmarking evolving?

What is the high-level safety metric and productivity metric for the

Alberta heavy industrial construction sector?

What is Twice as Safe, Twice as Productive by 2020 all about?

What is COAA doing to improve the industry?

Also included with the above documents, are links to additional COAA

benchmarking resources and other related information that can be found at.

Wait, there’s more!

JWN published an article this month in OilWeek that highlights new approaches to benchmarking that groups are taking to hit the mark on Alberta project delivery. Get more details, along with links to other great resources, right here.

COAA Safety Committee’s

Safety Maturity Perception Survey

COAA’s vision for the industry is to be “Twice as Safe, Twice as Productive by

2020”, and a key element in this journey is to understand Alberta’s safety

culture and the level of safety maturity across the industry. COAA’s Safety

Committee has developed a survey with the intention of gaining input across

the industry to understand where leadership in safety culture is happening and

where it is void. Responses are asked from all areas of a company, as it will

help determine the industry’s attitudes and actions toward safety, enhance

Best Practices, and tailor initiatives to improve overall safety for everyone.

The survey should take no more than 20 minutes to complete and responses

are sent directly to Dr. Lianne Lefsrud, from the University of Alberta. They will

be used exclusively for the purposes of this project and responses will be kept

in the strictest confidence. The survey will close on March 15, 2017 at 12:00

p.m. MTS.
