Class Recap It has been a very busy and productive year throughout the school, although with some uncertain times, here are some of our highlights; Reception children, it has been a pleasure to be your teacher this year and getting to know you all. Although it has been a strange end to the year and we can’t all be together, we have had lots of fun learning to-gether and making lovely memories. We have had fun learning about ourselves and each other, Winter wonder-lands looking at animals that live in cold climates around the world, Dino-saurs where you all became palaeontologists; exploring and making your own fossils and farms learning about Farms, food that can be grown, animals and their babies and lots of other things. Just to name a few of the areas we have covered and the fun we have been having. You have completed your first year in school and your first Christmas Nativity where you took the lead and did an amazing job! You have never failed to impress us and we are very proud of all you have achieved this year and how much you are all growing into wonderful little people. Thank you for being superstars. Have a lovely summer holiday with your family and we look forward to hearing all about your hard work and fun next year with your new class teacher. Sending big hugs From Mrs Hayward-Harris and Miss Edwards. Class 1—It has been my pleasure to teach you this year. I have nothing but amazing memories of our time together. You all worked incredibly hard and really stepped up your transition from Reception. I will miss you all, Good Luck in Year Two; hopefully I will get to teach you again! Class 2—I know it feels as though we haven’t spent as much time as we should have this year but I do have some really fond memories of the time we have spent together. The Great Fire of London topic was one of the best topics I have ever taught. The interest that you guys showed during that, and the work that you produced was excellent! I also thoroughly enjoyed reading the different Anthony Browne books with you too! Lastly, your love and passion for science is infectious and I hope that you contin-ue this as you progress through school! I look forward to seeing you all in and around school in September and hope that you enjoy your time in year 3! Class 3 -When I think back to our time together, It makes me have a big smile on my face. The progress you all made was outstanding because you put all of your effort into every single lesson. We read some brilliant books (How to grow a dragon, Billionaire Boy and the Iron Man), carried out interesting and exciting science investigations and sang a wide range of lovely songs. I have certainly enjoyed teaching all of you and I hope to teach you again in the near future. However, for now, I hope you enjoy your summer holiday and I wish you good luck in year 4. Mr Payne Class 4—You know you are the best class in the school, I thoroughly en-joyed teaching all of you. Our year started in the Amazon Rain Forest. We enjoyed our visit to Chester Zoo. We then went on to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. My favourite book by far was Butterfly Lion by Michael Morpurgo (I’m sure it was yours too!) I wish we could of con-tinued learning the recorder, as you were all fantastic performers. I wish you all a very happy Summer, see you in September. Hi Year 5, I was just thinking back to some of the things we did prior to closing the school… in the autumn term, we read The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe – seems so long ago! We made our wardrobe worlds and you produced some amazing writing about the world you would like to find in-side. I remember the first few weeks of Art, where we enjoyed the early September sunshine, sketching the trees around the grounds and how you improved so quickly. Mostly I remember the activities that took place outside: testing parachutes and rockets, walking to the war memorial and our visit to Jodrell Bank. We have laughed a lot when making our Haka dances and copying the narrator who read Carrie’s War, when she said: “by Nina Bowden”. but I am sure you will have a fantastic time in Year 6. All the best, Miss Fitzpatrick.

Class 6—What a year we have had, although it was cut short, I’m incredi-bly proud of how you all became role models in school. We had fun learn-ing lots of interesting topics and you all gave it your best efforts. It was my pleasure to teach you all again. I wish you nothing but great success!Good Luck in Secondary School.

Class Teacher - Bubble Group Updates

Keyworker Group 1 and 2

We have been following the Whiterose for Maths and BBC bitesize for English. They have also been doing a project about ‘Chocolate’. They have explored the origins of the cocoa bean, learning that the Mayan civilisations used cocoa to make a drink called ‘xocoatl’. Exploring the journey of the cocoa bean from pod to product has been really inter-esting. They even got to taste different kinds of chocolate. Milk was as by far the favourite kind of chocolate. In D.T they investigated and analysed different types of chocolate packaging. Then they de-signed their own. In art they used clay to recreate a piece of Aztec pottery. It was great fun getting messy and dirty. Lots of interest-ing facts have been learn about chocolate!

Reception

We have had a wonderful time in our bubbles this half term! We have been learning about fairy tales and have had great fun building cas-tles, making beanstalks and acting out stories. We've spent lots of time in our outdoor area and been very creative in the sunshine. In maths we have been learning about doubling and halving and really tested our counting skills.

Mrs Hayward-Harris has been really impressed by the amazing work that the reception children at home have been doing. Showing off their fantastic maths, reading and writing skills, as well as their super creative, artistic and baking skills during our ‘Once up on a time’ theme this half term. Year One This half term in class 1 our topic has been ‘Under The Sea’. We have really enjoyed using the ipads to learn all about the different animals that live in the sea and we enjoyed getting very messy using the clay to make our own animals. We also read the story ‘Rainbow fish’ by Marcus Pfister. We have also made our own sea slime and we spent time discussing all about plastic pollution in our oceans and the different layers of the ocean. A very busy, but enjoyable few weeks back at school. Thank you to all the children at home and in school, I’m incredibly proud of you all! Year 6 We have had an enjoyable last half-term in school looking mainly at Roald Dahl’s Matilda and completing a small unit on Immigration linked to the picture books ‘The Island’ by Armin Greder and ‘The Arrival by Shaun Tan. We have looked at how to create our own graffiti art and optical illusions. Good luck at your new secondary schools everybody!

Message from our Governors This has been an unprecedented year in the lives of the school and all the families, the governors wish to thank

parents and children for your understanding and support. I know that you all would want me to thank all of the staff for their hard work. We recognise how challenging it has been for many juggling the pressures and responsibilities of life under lockdown. We will do all we can to support staff to ensure that the children can return to a safe, happy and ‘normal’ learning environment in September. We hope all families and children remain safe during the summer break and wish year 6 all the best for the future, enjoy a break from home schooling and see you in September. Pete Jones Chairman of Governors PTA—Lightmoor PTA are very pleased to announce that we have now raised the full amount of money for a full class set of Glockenspiels, which will be purchased and ready for children to use in the Autumn Term. We recognise the importance of our children being able to access a full, fun and creative curriculum when they return to school and we hope that these instruments will support this. We would like to thank Dawley Parish Council, Ironbridge Parish Council, Cllr Jayne Greenway and Clare Dar-byshire Opticians for supporting our fundraising effort. We are looking forward to returning in the Autumn term with lots of new ways to support
