You can see from the accompanying pictures how much fun everyone had, but I think the following note sums up the day perfectly. This was an email I received from someone who is not part of the school, but was invited by one of our parents: "What a fantastic fun-packed family day! This was my first visit to the school, and to the Summer Fair and I must say how impressed I was by such a lovely environment and how well it was all organised. The food stalls were exceptional, and provided a fabulous opportunity to sample a wide range of authentic foods from around the world – delicious! The children loved all of the activities including the bouncy slide, the bungee rope, the face painting and were especially delighted at taking home their own little bags of gold! The variety of prizes donated for raffles/ tombola and the stalls were superb. Everyone was very friendly and I was welcomed like one of the family by Sister Hannah. Well done to everyone who was involved in organising this event. Thank you so much for all the hard work and effort in creating an incredibly successful and memorable day." I'm delighted to let you know that we managed a great total on the day and, after expenses were deducted, we raised JUST OVER £8000!! A huge thank you to all. Year 3 Field Trip As part of Year 3's geography curriculum in the summer term they were learning about 'Our Local Area'. They visited the original Olympics site at White City to take part in the 1908 Olympics trail. The class walked around the site following clues in the street names such as South Africa Way and Commonwealth Avenue. The trail took them to the finishing line of the marathon in front of the memorial showing the medal table in the BBC Media Centre courtyard (photos opposite). Great Britain won an impressive 56 gold medals but this wasn't a fair result as all the judges were all British! The medal winners are listed on the memorial. Sarah Fox

Class 3B loved the Olympics - here are some of their impressions "The Olympics have shown me some new sports that I would like to try out, like fencing." Mason Lewis "My mum went to see one of the events and she said the stadium was really amazing." Ella Downes "I think everyone will be more sporty now that we've had the Olympics. I watched a lot of it on the TV too." Carlos Chavez

Mrs Teverson - Games Maker Soon after London won the Olympic bid I signed up as a volunteer. As a Londoner I wanted to be part of such an historic event. After an interview in November I was offered the position of an 'Olympic Family Assistant.' My job was to drive members of different National Olympic Committees from their hotels to the Olympic venues. We had three training days, one of which was in the car I was to drive, a BMW series 5. I drove people from New Zealand, Mali, Burundi, Hungary and America. On a typical day I might go from the Park Lane garage to their hotel, out to Eton Dorney, across London to the Olympic Park, over to the Excel centre, back to the garage via their hotel. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The highlights for me were the amazing party atmos-phere in London; the interesting people I met, everyone talked to a Games Maker; driving along the Zil lanes; my accreditation pass which allowed me into any sports venue; being on my feet in the Stadium screaming like mad when Mo

Farrah won the 5000 metres. Mrs Teverson

Olympic Reflections In Class 6B we have been reflecting on the events of the London 2012 Olym-pics. The children have been working on mini-projects to share their experi-ences with each other - using artwork, photographs, PowerPoint presenta-tions and poetry. We all agreed that the London 2012 Olympics and Paralym-pics have been a 'once in a life time' experience for all of us - truly inspira-tional, heartbreaking and memorable! Mrs Danilowicz
