OUr OrgANISATION

cta international is a 50/50 Joint venture company created in 1994 between Bae systems (uK) and neXter systems (Fr) dedicated to research and development, manufacturing and sale of the 40mm cased telescoped armement system. cta international is located in Bourges in the heart of the historic military centre of France. the company is expanding its workforce from circa 60 to more than 80 uK and Fr engineers, fitters and support staff. the majority of these additional staff being associated with the series Production of the ct cannon.

through its support contracts ctai is fully supporting its domestic customers as the eBrc, wcsP and scOut programmes. ctai will be a major element of through life support of the vehicle programmes and is already working with the Primes, integrators and end users to develop and instigate the support philosophy.

as the French and British army vehicle programmes have matured, this has created interest from around the world. ctai is working with turret integrators and vehicle primes to position the 40 ctas as the preferred solution for future new vehicle and upgrade programmes for export opportunities.

ctai is working on new natures of ammunition including target Marking round (tMr), the anti-aerial air Burst (a3B) and the reduced range training versions of the aP and gPr rounds which are in development and undergoing trials.

OUr PrODUCTS

the 40 ctas is a full lethality solution primarily aimed to equip armoured and reconnaissance vehicles in order to provide them with superior fire power over other similar calibres including 30mm and 35mm weapons. the suite of ammunition developed in association with the 40 ct cannon has been designed to give increased effect against armoured vehicles, reinforced concrete, buildings and soft targets and suppression of dispersed troops.

THe PreSeNT

Following the Qualification of the 40mm cased telescoped cannon (ctc) and two natures of ammunition, armour Piercing (aP) and training Practice (tP). ctai is now focused upon delivering weapon systems in its two home markets as well as supporting several international export campaigns. to this end, the company has undergone a transformation to integrate the serial Production of the cannon. ctai is also increasing its through-life support services for the requirements of turret integrators, national customers and end users.

development and Qualification of new ammunition natures is also ongoing. the Qualification of the general Purpose round Point detonating (gPr-Pd) is concluding and will be ready to enter into service in 2016, the air Burst round (gPr-aB) will follow shortly to support uK and Fr vehicle demonstration programmes.

the engineering department continues to develop the other elements of the 40 ctas for other vehicles programmes among which the French Jaguar is the most advanced. the Qualification of the ct cannon and ammunition developed through the Joint venture continues to be jointly funded by both the uK and Fr governments for use by the British and French armies. this qualification is in line with the high standards of the uK Mod and Fr dga safety organisations and the schedule and performance requirements of the French armoured reconnaissance vehicle programme (eBrc) and the uK programmes (scout and warrior capability sustainment Program wcsP).
