D ear ISHCMC community Congratulations to the many people who were involved in the PTO event, Celebration of Cultures, which was held this morning at Parkland. It is important to stop and reflect occasionally upon the broadness of nationalities at our school along with the diversity of cultures that make up our unique ISHCMC community. It was an opportunity not only to highlight the wonderful differences between the countries from which we originate but also the uniqueness of the cultures that we each enjoy. Additionally the Celebration of Cultures enables us all to appreciate our host country Vietnam and the privilege it is for us to be living as guests in this land. The organization involved in staging the event was quite extraordinary. It was clear that the excellent performances were the result of many hours of preparation. In addition the coordination and organization by all of the PTO country representatives was time consuming yet worthwhile. I should also make special mention of the PTO Cultural Representative Coordinators: Ginny Condra, Lynne McDonnell, Audrey Yeo, Katya Gataullina and Lula Matus. Mr. Tang our Operations Manager and his team worked very hard as did Lars Tatlock who organized the sound and backstage crew. In particular, thank you to all of our students and staff who donned their national dress, or clothing depicting particular features of your country and for showing immense pride in your homeland. It is now time for a well earned rest as the half term holiday looms. I do hope that all members of our community enjoy the next 10 days and I look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 22nd October . Simon Leslie Simon Leslie Headmaster

Dear ISHCMC community

The first ever PTO City Tour was a great hit with all in attendance. The ISHCMC 16 seater left with new parents and two expert guides

at 8:20am from the school making a quick tour around Thao Dien showing Metro, the tailors , the different classes(art, music etc), the stores, the bakeries and places to take the toddlers for games....and of course spas and salons.

From there we headed towards Dist.1 showing the museums, Sports street, the genuine electronic shops and servicing centres, Ben Thanh Market, Diamond Plaza, the tailors again, the Russian Market, Saigon Square, Saigon Tax, Vincom and book shops, and of course Ham Nghi Street.

Water and refreshments were provided and the ISHCMC guide books were handed out to everyone to use for later reference.

We returned to school at 10:40 am with a promise to organise another such tour in the future.
