NEWSLETTER JUNE 2015 Built by NEW HOLLAND financed by Armidale Dumaresq Council will find that keeping the grass mown at Armidale Airport will be a lot easier with the delivery of their new New Holland tractor. The New Holland TD5.75 was the chosen machine with 15hp more than the old New Holland TD60D Plus tractor and a raft of features that will make the operation of council’s 3pl mower more efficient. The Power Shuttle will be of great benefit with the amount of backwards and forwards operations around markers on the airfield, the increased size and quietness of the cab will help to reduce the operators fatigue and the roof window will help with overhead visibility, always a concern on airfields. Pictured at the installation: Levi Alley, Goodwin Kenny Technician & Andrew Levingston, ADC Plant Manager. ALL GEARED-UP by Glenn Furner Last week I was fortunate to be able to attend a New Holland Sales, Marketing and New Product Release Conference in Melbourne. The weather was cold but the venue at Aitken Hill, just to the north of Melbourne, was excellent with plenty of space for driving and trying out New Holland’s newest products, from the CR series combine harvesters through a comprehensive range of hay and windrowing equipment to the full line of agricultural and compact tractors. We will see some new and interesting updates and models for 2015 from T8. SmartTrax Row Crop tracked tractors, the all new T4. and T5. series of utility tractors and New Holland’s “Auto Command” constantly variable transmission which has been extended to include T6., T7. and T8. series tractors and major improvements and advances to New Holland’s “Precision Land Management” systems. Although it was a very fast paced itinerary, it was exceptionally well presented, extremely educational and worth every cold moment. I grabbed the opportunity to test drive a T7.200 Auto Command tractor, the same model Goodwin Kenny will be performing a series of “on farm” demonstrations with leading up to and following Agquip 2015. Our demonstration tractor will be a New Holland T7.200 Short Wheel Base with the following features: 50kph Auto Command (CVT) Transmission Front Terraglide Suspension 6.7 litre Engine, Common Rail Injection 155 Rated Engine Horsepower (Max Power 171 HP) 140 PTO HP, 540/750/1000 RPM PTO Speeds 4 Electro/Hydraulic Remote Control Valves High visibility Cab with Suspension Sidewinder II Armrest with Intelliview III Display Terralock Traction Management Headland Turning Sequence 580/70 R38 Rear tyres Cat 2/3 Three Point Linkage Leon De Groot of Leon’s Pork, Gunnedah is pictured following the installation of his New Holland “Intelli-Steer” Auto Steering and FM1000 monitor in his new New Holland T6.140 Auto Command tractor. The Auto Steer will be used predominately during sowing and spraying operations to control costly overlaps and missed strips while the FM1000 will be utilised to control spray rates and eventually will be upgraded to enable mapping contours for flood irrigation. Tim Willemse (pictured at left) was recently looking to upgrade his existing farm tractor and the New Holland TD5.110 caught his eye. The simplistic nature of the machine’s layout and ease of operation was a major influence in his purchase decision. Tim has opted for a New Holland/Challenge AP35 Plus front end loader with 4 in 1 bucket. This tractor and loader combination will be used for general farming and fencing duties at his Turrawan property. To book your demonstration or “test drive” - call Glenn Furner or Peter Kenny at Gunnedah on 67425777 or Tony Housden at Tamworth on 67655244

MORE HORSEPOWER at TAMWORTH JOCKEY CLUB Tamworth Jockey Club have been a customer at Goodwin Kenny for many years owning a number of tractors which are used to keep the Racecourse looking good for Race meetings, for track preparation, for carrying their Silvan Pasturepak sprayer and for cleaning up manure around the stables and stalls. Recently their faithful Fiat 80-90DT tractor had a mechanical issue and after looking into the repairs that were required the management at the club decided it was time for an upgrade. Fortunately we had recently traded a good quality New Holland TL100A with a Challenge AP35 Plus front end loader which was ideal for the Jockey Club. After swapping the standard bucket to a 4-in-1 bucket the tractor was made ready for delivery. Now the Jockey Club has “more horsepower” and a much later model tractor that matches the Goodwin Kenny signage at the Racecourse. Pictured at the delivery installation: Goodwin Kenny Service Technician, Levi Alley and Tamworth Jockey Club’s, Mal Hunt.

Just to keep you up to date: We have received a few messages from Tony while on the Westpac Helicopter Cameron Corner to Tamworth bike ride (as shown at right), the second part of the message was very complimentary about the wonders of Aussie Butt Cream!!

I suppose we all need something to fill our “spare time”, whether it be bike riding or golf or other passions. Not that I have much spare time, but I am glad that I have chosen to learn a new skill, and enjoy my weekly session of painting and “red wine” and gossip. Last week the group that I paint with travelled to Currabubula Art Show (a fundraiser for Red Cross) for the Opening Night. We enjoyed the evening and it was great to have the opportunity to look over the artworks and discuss them. While none of us were winners, we were certainly grinners. Pictured in front of my painting “Boats” are Kate Cullen, Elaine Abberfield, Cath Neill, Maria Henry, Blagoj Ristevski, myself & Grace Richards.

A Blonde goes to Heaven An Aussie Blonde was sent on her way to Heaven. Upon arrival, a concerned St Peter met her at the Pearly Gates. 'I'm sorry, 'St Peter said; 'But Heaven is suffering from an overload of godly souls and we have been forced to put up an Entrance Exam for new arrivals to ease the burden of Heavenly Arrivals.' 'That's cool' said the Blonde, 'What does the Entrance Exam consist of?' 'Just three questions' said St Peter. 'Which are?' asked the Blonde. 'The first,' said St Peter, 'is, which two days of the week start with the letter 'T'? The second is - How many seconds are there in a year'? The third is - What was the name of the swagman in Waltzing Matilda?' 'Now,' said St Peter, 'Go away and think about those questions and when I call upon you, I shall expect you to have those answers for me.' So the Blonde went away and gave those three questions some considerable thought. The following morning, St Peter called upon the Blonde and asked if she had considered the questions, to which she replied, 'I have.' 'Well then,' said St Peter, 'Which two days of the week start with the letter T?' The Blonde said, 'Today and Tomorrow.' St Peter pondered this answer for some time, and decided that indeed the answer can be applied to the question. 'Well then, could I have your answer to the second of the three questions' St Peter went on, 'how many seconds in a year?' The Blonde replied, 'Twelve!' 'Only twelve' exclaimed St Peter, 'How did you arrive at that figure?' 'Easy,' said the Blonde, 'there's the second of January, the second of February, right through to the second of December, giving a total of twelve seconds.' St Peter looked at the Blonde and said, 'I need some time to consider your answer before I can give you a decision.' And he walked away shaking his head. A short time later, St Peter returned to the Blonde. 'I'll allow the answer to stand, but you need to get the third and final question absolutely correct to be allowed into Heaven. Now, can you tell me the answer to the name of the swagman in Waltzing Matilda?' The blonde replied: 'Of the three questions, I found this the easiest to answer.' 'Really!' exclaimed St Peter, 'And what is the answer?' 'It's Andy.' 'Andy??' 'Yes, Andy,' said the Blonde. This totally floored St Peter, and he paced this way and that, deliberating the answer. Finally, he could not stand the suspense any longer, and turning to the blonde, asked 'How in God's name did you arrive at THAT answer?' 'Easy' said the Blonde, 'Andy sat, Andy watched, Andy waited till his billy boiled.' ..And the Blonde entered Heaven

Frost over Barraba Arts Festival commences on Thursday 25th June and concludes on Sunday 28th June. I have been to Barraba for Frost a couple of times and I always have an enjoyable day out with some shopping, lunch, arts and crafts and of course, the Art exhibition - it is worth the drive!

The Wean Picnic Race Day to be held on Saturday 4th July 2015 this year will be dedicated to remembering the Great War with a Costume theme or a “Red & White” Colour theme. Almost half the original founding committee of Wean served in that conflict. Great music will be provided by the Gunnedah Shire Band. More details on their website www.weanraces.com.au and for costumes see Warwicks at Melbourne www.warwicks.com.au
