Service Pack 6 will be available for automatic download on January 15th, 2017. Customers who would like to get the service pack immediately may download it manually using the instructions linked from Service Pack Installations.

CommCell Management CONFIGURE ADMINISTRATIVE JOBS TO START WHEN COMMSERVE ACTIVITY IS LOW

You can configure your administrative jobs to go into a queued state if more than 100 backup jobs are running or waiting on the CommServe. When fewer than 100 backup jobs are running or waiting, the queued administrative jobs automatically start.

This option is an advanced job option and is located on the Startup tab.

BACKUP SUPPORT FOR AZURE BLOB STORAGE — EARLY RELEASE FEATURE

Backup support for Azure Blob Storage service.

KEY FEATURES

• You can make a backup copy of the Azure Blob Storage data by backing up to a local storage.

• You can perform distributed restore operations to the cloud by using multiple streams for optimal load sharing.

BACK UP AND RESTORE OFFICE 365 WITH SHAREPOINT — EARLY RELEASE FEATURE

Back up and restore Office 365 using the SharePoint agent. You can run backup and restore operations on a document backup set, with options to backup and restore SharePoint sites and granular content.

KEY FEATURES

• Even though the files reside on Microsoft Office 365, backup and restore operations function similarly to how they function in SharePoint On Premise.

Archiving Agents CONTENT INDEXING FOR THE EXCHANGE MAILBOX AGENT - EARLY RELEASE FEATURE

You can enable content indexing for messages that are archived by the Exchange Mailbox Agent from within the agent's archiving policy (User Mailbox) or from within the journal policy (Journal Mailbox and ContentStore Mailbox). With content indexing, you can search the contents of archived messages in Commvault search environments such as Web Console, Compliance Search, and ContentStore Email Viewer.

KEY FEATURES

• You can content index messages at the subclient level or by selecting individual mailboxes. • The same index server is used for both metadata and content indexing, which decreases the amount

of hardware that is required to host the indices, and increases the throughput of the content indexing jobs.

SETUP REQUIREMENTS

• The Web Server and MediaAgent must be installed on each proxy computer where the Exchange Mailbox Agent is installed.

• You must enable content indexing.

• For the Journal Mailbox and the ContentStore Mailbox, enable content indexing in the agent's journal policy.

Virtualization LIVE SYNC REPLICATION OF VIRTUAL MACHINES FROM VMWARE TO AMAZON — EARLY RELEASE FEATURE

With the Live Sync feature, you can perform incremental replication from a backup of a virtual machine (source VM) to a synced copy of the virtual machine (destination VM). The Live Sync operation opens the destination VM and applies changes from the source VM backups since the last sync point.

This feature supports streaming, auxiliary copy jobs, and backup copy jobs.

Notes:

• Support is available for replication from VMware only.

• Similar to conversion operations, a live sync job can be run only to one specific region at any point of time. Within the job, the VM can be replicated to different zones in the same region.

KEY FEATURES

• Initiate replication automatically after backups or on a schedule (for example, daily or once a week), without requiring any action from users.

• Minimize the impact on production systems by using backup data for replications, which avoids the need to read the source VM again for replication.

LIVE SYNC REPLICATION OF VIRTUAL MACHINES FROM VMWARE TO MICROSOFT AZURE — EARLY RELEASE FEATURE

The Live Sync feature enables incremental replication from a backup of a virtual machine (VMware source VM) to a synced copy of the virtual machine (Azure destination VM). After Live Sync applies the incremental changes, it reconfigures the VM.

This feature supports streaming operations, auxiliary copy operations, and backup copy operations.

Notes:

• After each Live Sync operation, an Integrity snapshot is created on the destination VM. During Live Sync operations, the VM is reverted to the Integrity snapshot level and writes the new incremental data to the blobs (snapshots).

• Support is available for replication from VMware only.

The Commvault plug-in provides recovery of virtual machines and files from within the vSphere Web Client. vSphere users can manage and restore virtual machines or files using the Commvault Web Console inside the vSphere Web Client, without launching the CommCell Console.

Reports MONITOR YOUR DISASTER RECOVERY PLAN WITH OUR RPO/RTO REPORT

The Recovery Point and Time Report helps you monitor the effectiveness of your disaster recovery operations by measuring the time period for data loss and recovery during a service disruption. This report displays the Actual Recovery Point (RPA) and the estimated Actual Recovery Time (RTA) for each client and compares it to the Recovery Point Objective (RPO) and Recovery Time Objective (RTO) that you specify.

Solutions MIGRATION OF THIRD-PARTY DATA TO OBJECTSTORE — EARLY RELEASE FEATURE

Migration of Third-Party Data to ObjectStore is a data migration solution that you can use to migrate files that are protected by third-party software to Commvault ObjectStore. For example, you can use the solution to migrate data from other backup vendors, like NetBackup and Avamar.

After migration, the user can manage the files from the Web Console, and can have access to all Web Console features.

KEY FEATURES

• The solution enables the migration of large amounts of data managed by third-party backup software to ObjectStore software.

• To facilitate the migration of data, you can copy the data to a staging location and schedule backups of the data to the ObjectStore. When the backups are complete, the solution removes the data from the staging location automatically.

• To facilitate searching the data from the Web Console you will create and import a metadata file (.mdata) that includes the custom properties of the data in the staging location.

RECORDS MANAGEMENT — EARLY RELEASE FEATURE

Commvault provides a record management solution that allows you to secure data records from different network locations to the ObjectStore. Users can manage the records from the Web Console, and have access to a selection of Web Console features.

KEY FEATURES

• Identify and classify records based on their network location.

• Protect the records by scheduling backups to the Commvault ObjectStore.

• Configure a retention period for the records and, when the retention period is reached, delete the records from the ObjectStore and from the original location of the records.

• Access the protected records from the Web Console and share the records with other users.

Service Packs are a collection of updates released on a scheduled basis, containing cumulative hotfixes and updates since the initial release of a software version (for example, v10, v11), to resolve software issues and enhance software performance.

We recommend that you install the latest service pack to remain current with all fixes and enhancements; however, we fully support customers on the three most recent service packs. Thus, to remain fully supported, you must apply service packs at least every 6 months.
