EVENING HERALD SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE
YEAR 2015
Congratulations to Jacob Dawson who won the
Evening Herald Amateur Sports Personality of the
Year this week.
Jacob first started
rowing when he
joined the Junior
Gym at Fort
Stamford. What a
fantastic
achievement and
what an
inspiration Jacob is
to any young
person starting
out in their chosen
sport. We are all very proud of his achievements.
No one could be prouder though, than Annette
and Nick Dawson, Jacobs parents, who have
travelled around the world supporting him with his
rowing career. Annette is the cook at Fort
Stamford and we are so pleased to share this great
moment with her.
Congratulations
also to Jonathan
Gliddon, one of
our members,
who is the Runner
Up in the Evening
Herald Amateur
Sports Personality
of the Year.
Jonathan first
started playing
Squash 35 years
ago at Fort Stamford and has progressed to
become the England Captain in his age group.

STAFF PROFILE
Name: Carolyn Everson Known as: Goldie
Snap shot history: I have worked at Fort Stamford on and
off for the last 20 years. I started in the bar, worked on
reception and then took over the marketing role. I am
married to Paul and between us, we have 6 children and 4
grandchildren.
Role at Fort Stamford: Marketing Manager.
Favourite holiday destination: I love all the holidays I’ve
been on, but Majorca has to be my favourite followed very
closely by going to Silverstone watching the MOTO GP last
year.
Favourite drink: Where do I start! At the moment my
favourite drink is a rose wine topped up with lemonade in a
tall glass with lots of ice. This helps to keep me sober
longer!
Plymouth Haunt: Costa Coffee at the weekend.
Favourite TV show: NCIS
Most hilarious/embarrassing moment: Everyday I have
an embarrassing moment. They usually involve saying or
doing something I shouldn’t.
