Value of the Fortnight

We will continue our studies on the value, Forgiveness, next week.

We all make mistakes. Wise people learn from their mistakes.

It is important to be able to forgive others so that they have an opportunity to learn from their mistakes and not repeat them in the future.

Being able to give those people the gift of forgiveness is also very beneficial to the person doing the forgiveness. It allows them to move on and free themselves from the hurt that has been caused.

Being surrounded by negative thoughts of revenge and payback is not good for our health. Forgiveness of others frees us from such negativity.

Last Friday our interschool Basketball and Beach Volleyball players participated in the end of term carnival day. All of the Basketball

teams had a great start to the day, winning their first games. After having a break, the players felt refreshed and full of energy.

Emerson continues their dominance in their pool games, with A, B and C grade going into their grand finals undefeated.

The girls had 2 tough back to back games during the pool games, taking out the first game by 2 points to a very tough Rossbourne.

During the Marnebek game the signs of fatigue were beginning to show and although they put up a fight in the second half, the ball

did not want to go in the ring, giving Marnebek the win. The play of for 3rd place was very one sided with Emerson showing their

capabilities and beating Berendale by 12 points. Congratulations to all of the girls!

The C Grade Grand Final was a tight game, both teams lead on many occasions and Emerson had to fight for the win until the final

whistle. The team were able to get a buffer of 3 points towards the end of the game and were diligent at getting up and down the

floor. A great effort by all of the players throughout the day.

Coming off the back of undefeated pool games the B Grade team went into the grand final confident of getting the win. They had to

work really hard to stay in the game as the Port Phillip had a sharp shooter from the 3 point line. Despite a well fought game the

team went down by 4 points.

A Grade had an unbeaten start to the day, winning their pool games by approximately 14 points. The boys played well, spreading

the ball on offence and tightening their defense on the ball carriers. The opening half of the grand final was close, with the teams

being separated by 2 points. The boys were able to use the offensive transition to their advantage, giving them a 4 point buffer. This

took the pressure off and the boys were able to come away with the win. Emerson has held the A

Grade title for the past 5 years.

The Volleyball team had a great day, finishing in 3rd position. The boys have had a great team and have

been improving their skills, team work, communication, sportsmanship and encouragement of all of the

players on the court. Many schools commented on the positivity of the Emerson team and

how nice it was that Emerson were encouraging all of the other schools. Well done on an

excellent term of Volleyball.
