Regional Athletics Sports The following students attended the Regional Athletics Sports event on Thursday October 18: Isabella Daraio (9/10 Girls 1500m); Jared Mills (Boys 12/13 triple jump);
Indiana Petrov (9/10 Girls hurdles & 100m); Alana Slabbekoorn (Girls 12/13 100m); Cory Taylor (Boys 9/10 shotput);
Blake Roberts (Boys 11 discus & long jump) and Emily Smith (Girls 12/13 Long jump). It is fantastic to have our students represented in these events and the support of their parents who can go along and encourage them to achieve their best! Blackberry clean up I would like to publically thank the Couacard family for tackling the blackberries growing along the side of the car line. This would have been a massive and rather prickly job. It is not often we get on offer to clean up blackberries around the school. Thank you also to the person who poisoned the weeds in the Healing garden. It is lovely to have extensive gardens around our school and fantastic to have them being cared for by the school community. If anyone would like to come in and do some pottering, the garden beds including the vegie garden would love some attention. There would be many willing little helpers and we have some tools and gloves for the children to use if you came during playtimes. Let us know if you would like to help! National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program Thankyou to the families returning the surveys sent home two weeks ago with the newsletter. Your feedback is helpful and will be presented at our next School Council meeting. Active After School Communities programs have started!!! We have vacancies for both dancing and Flippa ball. Please ensure you have your name down if you would
Chaplaincy News How to support someone who is grieving
There have been some in our school community who have recently lost loved
ones. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to these families.
It is such a consuming time for those who have lost loved ones. Emotionally, as
they deal with the loss. Physically, as they cope with a much bigger work load
on top of everything else and as they make arrangements for all sorts of
different things.
Working with other family members can be challenging and exhausting, in what
is such a hard time as you deal with raw grief. Supporting your children through
this time can also be very tricky as you try and come to terms with your own
grief. Financially it can be tough, as unexpected expenses occur.
If you have opportunity to support one of these families in anyway then please do. Drop in a meal. Offer to have the
children over for a play or lend a listening ear.
Sending a condolence is a lovely way to show support.
Ask the family how they are going when you have time to really listen.
Remember grieving for the family is mentally and physically exhausting.
Remember the anniversaries if you are able.
Time does heal, but grieving families of which we will all be one at some stage
of our lives will find the process easier if we have loving and supportive friends/
families around us to help us through.
Take care
