A ‘cool’ investment DENSO Corporation has acquired a 50 percent stake in DJ COOL Corporation, a Turkish company that designs, manufactures, and sells air conditioning systems for bus and tractors and refrigerator systems. The acquisition was confirmed on October 14th 2014.

DJ COOL was established in Turkey by Abdul Latif Jameel Co., Ltd. (ALJ), a major automotive distributor in the Middle East region. DENSO and ALJ had already established a joint venture, DENSO Abdul Latif Jameel, to manufacture and sell car air conditioning systems in Saudi Arabia in 2001.

When established by ALJ in November 2013, DJ COOL took over the “Climart” brand products of air conditioner systems for bus and tractors and refrigerator systems from a Turkish local manufacturer, and has been promoting business by utilising the network of the Climart brand.

Turkey is the largest manufacturer of buses for Europe, producing approximately

Greece welcomes new distributor DENSO Greece has appointed a new distributor to its growing customer base. Athens-based VIACAR S.A., a member of ITG NEXUS, is one of the most widely-known distributors in the Greek IAM automotive spare parts sector, with a branch also located in Thessaloniki covering distribution in North Greece.

Founded in 1978 and now with more than 1,800 active customers, the company is known for its links with some of Europe’s top suppliers of OE quality brands.

Yiannis Fronimakis, DENSO Sales Executive Greece, Cyprus and Malta commented: “We started communicating with VIACAR in September last year and are delighted to have established a partnership with them. Within this short period of time, we’ve been very happy with the results they’ve delivered and welcome them to our growing ranks of valued distributors.”

13,000 large and midi buses each year for its domestic market and for export to the European bus market. It is expected that the bus air conditioning system market will continue its growth in Turkey. With this investment in DJ COOL, DENSO will enter the Turkish market for bus and tractor air conditioner and refrigerator systems, with

the aim to expand business.

8 tips for clearer vision in winter conditions

As overnight temperatures drop, drivers need to be well-prepared for the big freeze. DENSO provides some tips to share with your customers for safer driving during these cold winter months.

• DO prevent freezing of your windscreen. The best way to ensure a clear vision is to prevent or reduce

opportunity for dew to freeze over your windscreen. • Park in a sheltered location (for example, under overhanging

trees, beneath bridges, in a carport if available). • Use a windscreen cover.

• DO use proper tools to save you precious time. If your windows have frozen over, despite your efforts to prevent

it, there is no means of removing the ice other than to scrape it off.

It is essential to invest in a decent ice scraper. Many of us in the Automotive Industry receive ice scrapers for free as promotional items, but some of these can often be poor quality. A good, solid ice scraper can save you half the time to clear your windscreen.

• DO clear your car of snow and ice. Don’t just clear the snow and ice from your windows – clear

it from the complete car too. This can prevent your vision being obscured from snow blowing up from your bonnet, or aggravating drivers behind when snow blows off your roof. When removing the snow, be gentle so as not to scratch the paint – a spare detached windscreen wiper can work wonders at protecting paintwork while clearing snow from your car. Also clear your windscreen washer spray nozzles.

> The design of DENSO Original Equipment Hybrid blades naturally protects against ice formation on the frame.

• DO regularly check your washer liquid. While driving, you will regularly have to clean your windscreen

from salt-spray. To do this you need sufficient washer liquid. As well as maintaining a full washer fluid tank, take time to fill

it up with a sufficient proportion of anti-freeze. There is a big difference in anti-freeze performance between the washer liquid sold in summer and in wintertime.

• DO check your wiper blades and replace if necessary.

During winter, ice will often freeze up the frame of your wiper blades, reducing their effectiveness. DENSO Original Equipment Hybrid Wiper Blades incorporate a plastic cover that reduces water ingress on the metal frame, helping to prevent them freezing up.

• DO switch on power functions. By switching on some big power consumers, your engine will

work harder and heat up quicker. • Turn on your rear windscreen heater, to ensure better rear

view vision. • Switch on your air conditioning, which will dry the air and

reduce condensation on the inside of your windscreen. • Put your headlights on for better visibility.

During the winter period (and even into spring), everyone struggles with ensuring good, clear vision through the windscreen.DENSO has gathered some tips for you to drive safely with minimal effort.

• DON’T start your car to warm up while running idle. When your engine is cold, the oil is very thick. While running in idle speeds, the engine oil barely

warms up, or warms up very slowly. This causes the engine to run for a long period without proper lubrication, which is very bad for

your engine. Not to mention the damage it does to the environment. The best way to warm up the engine is to make it work. Give it something to do. Drive with it.

• DON’T use your fitted wiper blades to clear any snow or ice from your windscreen.

The sharp edges of the snow and ice will damage the rubber of your wiper blade. Check ice is fully cleared with your scraper as abrasion will deteriorate the blade quicker.
