A Holiday Message From Our CEO

What a Wonderful YearThis year we were honoredto celebrate 45 years ofservice to seniors andcaregivers in NortheastFlorida. We appreciateeveryone who was able tocelebrate the specialoccasion with us.

There were also many otherexciting moments throughoutthe year that we were able toshare, including our variouscommunity outreaches, ourspecial events and even ourstaff retreat.

Through each of theseopportunities we were able toconnect with people in thecommunity who share the same heart towards supporting our seniors and caregivers.

We are thankful for all the meaningful connections we made this year and we look

forward to building even more connections in 2020!

Sharing Our SuccessEach year we help countless seniors and caregivers connect to valuable and trustedcommunity resources. We would not be able to help our clients if it was not for generous peoplewho help support us throughout the year. As we come to a close for 2019, we wanted to sharea few stories of success in how we helped change our clients' lives for the better.

Moving In

Mr. Gus is 67-years-old and raises his twogranddaughters, who are 4 and 6-years-old.He lives on a limited income while also gettingsome help from the Department of Childrenand Families and the granddaughters’ father.Mr. Gus was a plumber for 15 years, butretired a few years ago due to a disability.

Struggling to make ends meet along with theexpenses of taking care of his grandchildren,he signed up for HUD housing and was finallyapproved after a two-year wait. Mr. Gus found ahouse and contacted ElderSource requestingassistance to pay the deposit and firstmonth’s rent.

Thanks to the Senior to Senior Program, Mr.Gus and his granddaughters were able tomove into their new home.

A True Transformation

Mrs. Nancy is a widow and has lived in thesame house for 29 years. However, for thepast few years the home fell into severedisrepair.

Although several nonprofit organizationsassisted her, not all the repairs could bemade.Earlier this year, Mrs. Nancy was cited by theCity for several violations and was given 30days to comply or pay a fine. When funds ranshort Hart Felt Ministries and Builder's Careturned to ElderSource for assistance.

Through our Senior to Senior II Program,ElderSource was able to assist by payingBuilder’s Care to not only complete final roofrepairs and the remaining tasks to complywith the citation, but Mrs. Nancy received helpthat truly transformed her home.

The Senior to Senior Program is an endowment created by J.Wayne and Delores Barr Weaver coordinatedthrough the Community Foundation of Northeast Florida to assist seniors facing an unexpected financial crisis.The program is also generously supported by a grant from the Jim Moran Foundation.
