Along with transferring of knowledge, hands-on experience is provided which is useful for junior students. Every day 6 afternoons this session will be held. Talk on "Contributor Personality for Entrepreneurship” Pujya Swami Sarvasthanandaji, Designate Minister in charge of Ramakrishna Vedanta Centre United Kingdom, delivered a talk on why and how to become an entrepreneur on February 8, 2018. The Department of CSE organized this workshop for the benefit of final year students of all the branches. His talk included several real life examples. More than 300 students and all teaching and non-teaching staff of CSE Department actively participated in the session. Inauguration of Team Infinite

The department of CSE initiated Team infinite and it was

inaugurated on Feb 5, 2018 by Prof. Mahesh Prasanna K, HOD

(Computer Science and Engineering). It is a platform where

Talk on "Contributor Personality for Entrepreneurship”

Pujya Swami Sarvasthanandaji, Designate Minister in charge of

2018. The Department of CSE organized this workshop for the

benefit of final year students of all the branches.

His talk included several real life examples. More than 300

students and all teaching and non-teaching staff of CSE

Department actively participated in the session.

Time and Focus Management - tools for stress control

The Department of CSE organized a talk on stress management

by Dr. Naras Bhat, Professor, University of California,

Berkeley, on 15th February 2018. Dr. Naras Bhat talked on how

to manage time and lead stress free life. This talk was received

by second year students from all the branches. About 300

students and selected staff were present in the gathering.

Psychological Impact on Personal and Professional Life

Dr. Kusum Bhat, Professor, Saybrook University, San

Francisco, talked on how to lead a balanced life i.e. managing

personal and professional life in an appropriate manner. The

Department of CSE organized this talk on 15th February 2018

for the benefit of all teaching and non teaching staff. About 160

staff and selected students from all branches were gathered.

Talk on Cyber Security

Department of Computer Science and

Engineering, Vivekananda College of Engineering and

Technology, Puttur in association with Indian Society for

Technical Education (ISTE) had organized the awareness

program on “Cyber Security” for VI semester students of CSE

& ISE, which was conducted successfully with the active

participation of Management, Principal, HODs, Staffs and

Students on 19th February 2018.

Mr. Dinesh Shastri, Team Leader, Digital Age Strategies Pvt.

Ltd. was the resource person for the day.

160 students attended this talk.

Workshop on "UML"

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

conducted and organized workshop on Unified Modeling

Language on 28 Feb 2018.

Prof. Nithin Kurup was the resource person for this session.

Along with theoretical knowledge transfer, a hand on experience

was also provided.

23 students were benefitted by this workshop.

SWACCH VCET ABHIYAAN by CSE Department

SWACH VCET ABHIYAAN by CSE Department was held on

21st February, 2018, at 3.00 pm.

Under the guidance of Prof. Mahesh Prasanna, HOD,

department of CSE, all the students and faculty including HOD

cleaned the whole campus i.e. main building surroundings,

Krishna Chethana, Madhu Chethana and parking lot, left side of

sudarshana till entrance at canteen, right side of sudarshana till

entrance at canteen. Five student groups were formed along with

three or four faculty of CSE and ISE departments.

30 staff members and 200 students of second and third year CS

and IS actively participated in the Swacch VCET Abhiyaan.

Take up one idea, make that idea your life, think of it, dream of it and live on that idea. Let the brain,

muscle, nerve and every part of your body be full of that idea and just leave every other idea alone.

Interaction With Alumni

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

had organized interaction with Mr. Dharmender Singh, proud

Alumni of VCET-CSE, 2011 pass-out, addressed students of

3rd Year, on 19th March 2018.

Mr. Dharmender Singh was placed in Birla Software, from

VCET, through Campus placement. Mr. Singh clearly specified

about his experiences in Industry, Current trends of Industry,

and preparations towards the placements.

Talk on Corporate Expectations

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

had organized talk on “Corporate Expectations” for VI semester

students of CSE & ISE, which was conducted successfully with

the active participation of Staffs and Students. Talk was

delivered by Mr. Vidyaranya, The HR Head, Mphasis on 19th

March 2018, from 2.00 pm to 3.00 pm on Corporate

Expectations.

About 150 students participated in this session.

Talk on "Big Data"

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

had organized the technical talk on “Big Data” for VIII semester

students of CSE & ISE, which was conducted successfully with

the active participation of students on 22 March 2018.

Resource person, Mr. Rathinaraj Jeyaraj is a research scholar in

the department of IT, NITK.

Mr. Dwaraknath,8th Semester, Dept. of CSE has rendered the

master of ceremony, welcome speech and vote of thanks for the

event.115 students were present in the gathering.

Interaction With Alumni

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

had organized interaction with Mr. Gururaj Hegde, proud

Alumni of VCET-CSE, 2017 pass-out, addressed students of

3rd Year, on 21st April 2018.

Mr. Gururaj Hegde is an automation team member in Metric

Stream company. Mr. Hegde clearly explained how to face

interviews and expectations from the interviewer.

About 25 students actively participated in the discussion.

Talk on Opportunities after Engineering

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

had organized a talk on what to do after engineering by Mr.

Ramashesha, Director, School of Information Sciences,

Manipal. He addressed students of final Year, on 4th May 2018.

110 students participated in this session.

Interaction With Alumni

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

had organized interaction with Mr. Shyam Tejaswini, proud

Alumni of VCET-CSE, 2017 pass-out, addressed students of

3rd Year CS and IS, on 4th May 2018.

Mr. Shyam Tejaswini is an Engineer in AyyurVAID(AVH IT),

Bangalore. He clearly explained how to prepare for placements

and how to face interviews.

More than 100 students participated in the discussion.

Seminar/ Presentation on Indian and International Education

On 11th May, 2018 Byju’s class,Bangalore provided details for preparation for various higher studies options in India and abroad.

o P N Santosh: An MBA from ISB, Hyderabad and an Electrical Engineer (Gold Medalist from CEG-Anna University,

Chennai) is a 100 percentile scorer in CAT Verbal and 338 out of 340 score in GRE,780/800 scorer in GMAT.

o Amith Ravindra – (330 out of 340 scorer in GRE, 760 out of 800 scorer in GMAT, 100 percentiler (Verbal) in CAT).

Counseled and successfully helped more than 100 students to get into prestigious, colleges such as Kellog, Wharton, Duke,

Kelly, ISB.

The department of Computer Science organized this for the pre final year students of CS and IS.

CODE-A-THON

Department of Computer Science and Engineering,

Vivekananda College of Engineering and Technology, Puttur

had conducted code-A-Thon event on 15th May for all the

students from all the departments of the institute. The main

objective of this event is to extract the strong skilled

programmers from the institute.

Event was open for all the students from all the departments. 72

teams had participated. Each team had 2 memebers. Participants

are posed with three levels of programs. Teams will be awarded

with 5/10/20 points upon successful execution of programs of

Level I/II/III respectively. Top scoring team in each category

(CSE/ISE, Non-CSE/ISE, FY) will be awarded with cash prize

(Rs.3000/-). Next top five teams are also awarded with

consolation cash prizes.

Thanthrix-Project Exhibition and competition for Computer

Science Students

On May 24, 2018 department of CSE conducted Project

Exhibition and competition for final year Computer Science

Students. 27 teams participated in the event.

Sri.Avaneesha Bhat P G , engineer,Winman Software India

LLP, was the external evaluator for the project exhibition and

competition. Mr.Ramakrishna and Mrs.Rakshitha, Assistant

Professor, Computer Science department were the internal

evaluators of the project.

CSE Association Valedictory

On May 25, 2018 department of CSE and ISE conducted

valedictory function for final year Computer Science and

Information Science Students.

Few of the final year students shared their experiences.

Chief guest of the event, Sri. T. S. Subramanya Bhat addressed

the students. He gave away the prizes for code-a-thon winners

and academic toppers of final year. Team Infinite members were

felicitated for their great work.

Prof. Mahesh Prasanna, HOD,CSE and Prof. Usha Kiran,

HOD,ISE addressed the students. Miss.Nishmitha, 6th sem,CSE

was the master of the ceremony. Miss Safana, 6th sem CSE gave

the vote of thanks.200 students were gathered for the event.
