President's ReportShane Coles

NewsLETTER 025- May 2015

Welcome to my presidents report for May 2015..

This month I have included an image that every member should have stamped in their head. Yes you should be preparing for the 5th Annual Photo Exhibition by the Bellarine camera Club. I urge members to take part in this fantastic event that promotes our club, but also gives you as a photographer to show the public, your family and your peers how good a photographer you are. It only takes ten images to set up your individual display. Many members over the years have been scared to display their work because they felt that it would not be up to scratch. I can tell you last year members who had been quiet all year in competition surprised me in the standard of the images that they put up.

Have a go. If the event is not supported by all from the club it will fail. There is not pressure for members to sell images. It is an individual choice, but I can say from personal experience the sale of your work is a good feeling and selling more than others in the club is a high. Sorry to those I annoyed last year with my result. The entry forms have been sent to you and hard copies will be available at the next few meeting.

Anzac day has passed and many members took part in various functions and hopefully obtained fantastic images. I know the weather was not the best making photography a little harder. I can’t wait to see the images in the June comp.

The next syllabus has just been finalised and we have some great hands on programs and guest speakers arranged. It should be on the web site very soon.

The current committee of the Bellarine camera club works extremely hard to make our club work. I would like to ask members to think about becoming a committee member and assist in keeping the club vibrant. The AGM is listed for August and I hope we can get some new blood into the group and make the next few years enjoyable.

I urge members to keep up with the syllabus and plan ahead for future competitions.

Each month I will leave you with a meaningful quote that sums up photography:-

“I am not a photographer, I am a Canon owner!!!”
