Year 13 have been receiving

Mock Examinations January 2014- AS & A2

Although our 6th Form students feel a bit gloomy about starting

2014 at Holy Family 6th with their mock examinations on the first

Tuesday back, many have also expressed their heartfelt thanks

that we will not be implementing the anti-cheating head gear

that is enforced at the University of Kasetart in Bangkok, Thailand.

After careful discussion with Mrs Ridehalgh our Examination

Officer we have decided that it is not appropriate for all students

to don this attire. The three students who are to wear this new-

fangled garment have already been informed of our ruling.

KEY DATES for MOCK EXAMINATIONS

We asked students to

tweet us pictures of

their independent

learning days. Here are

just a few of them. The

vast majority of

students approached

the days with great

seriousness and

feedback has been very

positive.

Students in years 12 and 13

volunteered to bake cakes for staff

at the start of our ‘Sixth Former for

a Day’ week. This was two days

when we sent the real sixth formers

home for two days and got some

pretend ones instead. We’re still

not sure why we baked cakes.

Since the end of October preparations for the annual Cafod concert have been taking place. Below we have

pictures of the auditions taking place in the studio over several lunchtimes and the first full rehearsal last

night with Liv in full flow. Let’s hope it’s a good one. We have a suprise celebrity guest act this year!

Dodge ball has been our strong focus on Thursday mornings. Some tutors, such as Mrs Gordon – Jarrett and her

GJ Army, took it very seriously indeed. They were however beaten convincingly in the student final by Morrell’s

Monsters who had been calm and reserved in their approach throughout the tournament. Morrell’s Monsters went

on to play the staff Dodgefathers in the final who, with a combined age of 599 years, took them apart!

Year 11 Information

Evening

Following on from our ‘Sixth

Former for a Day’ event parents

and students in year 11 were

invited to an evening that was

largely led by current students

and alumni.

Louise Tiler, Rosie Hellawell,

Dani Laughlin and Daniel

Foster all contributed to the

evening alongside our 6th form

student leadership team.

All spoke with great fondness

and warmth about their 6th

form days and particularly their

teachers.

Louise is now an international

award winning pattern

designer and last year the

Mother’s Day card she

designed for Marks & Spencer

was their best- selling card!

You really should check out her

website! Louisetiler.com
