This week, with schools closing and public gatherings discouraged, every church ministry

in Canada and the world has had to re-evaluate everything it does to reach people.

We can’t see them physically, but does that mean we have to stop connecting with them

and discipling them?

I don’t think it does.

We live in an exciting point in history, where it’s possible to connect with people on the

other side of the world. We can stream video right out of my living room from my phone

all around the globe. None of this replaces physical contact fully, but where that’s not

possible, we have an opportunity to use social media for some good.

Research suggests that 9 out of 10 people in Canada use one or more social media

platform. Which means that whether we like it or not, for the youth we’re connected to,

the online world is a big part of their life.

Where this feels like new territory for many of us.

We actually have the potential to reach more people in this season than we were seeing

before.

Follow us on Instagram @ lpc_youngsdults

Or our Facebook page, Lacombe Pentecostal Church Young Adults

Be sure to stay in touch with your Connect groups as well.

Your leaders will be working hard to reach you and bless you with phone calls or video

chats.

Be safe, And have a blessed week!

Youth Ministry

Youth Announcement

Hey Church Family, Romans 8:30, “And I am convinced that nothing can separate us from God’s love. Neither death, nor life, neither angles nor demons, neither fear for today nor our worries about tomorrow – not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love”. With the current temporary closure of youth ministry gatherings due to the Covid-19 outbreak, there were some changes and adjustments that we obviously had to make. For the time being till we can meet again in person, I will be using Instagram, Facebook, Remind, and Zoom to connect with the youth. Send me your email addressJ & You will be emailed a link for Zoom – follow the instructions and create an account and this way I can connect with your teen and also with you! Here are all of our connection pages:

1) Instagram: theanchorlpc.com (follow us for postings, bible study videos, etc.) 2) Facebook Page: theanchorlpc 3) Text me (403) 307-4062 your email address and I will get you connected to Zoom & Remind. 4) Zoom: A video chat outlet. 5) Remind: An information app to keep you informed.

I will post all Bible study meetings, group meetings, etc. on Instagram, Facebook & Remind so that you can get your teen connected to the date & time per meeting. Regarding our upcoming May long weekend youth retreat, “CHOSEN” as of now it is up in the air. I will keep you posted as time moves on. I love you and praying for you all. STAY CONNECTED. You can call me anytime (my cell # is above). God Bless Pastor Veronica

Missions (Rogers)

Hello friends,

I hope you are keeping well and washing your hands:) These are very interesting and challenging times as you no doubt know. I wanted to

give you a little encouragement and update on how we are doing.

In spite of all that is going on we feel a little excited, as a follower of Christ we are called to bear the fruit of the Spirit (the fruit that

comes from growing with Christ); love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. A tree does not eat its

own fruit but produces fruit for others' to eat. We are in an amazing season where the world around us needs this fruit more than ever. Our

complacency has been dealt a blow and opportunities are everywhere to be a light, and to advance the kingdom.

My travel has been grounded for the unforeseen future, and fundraising will be a challenge I expect as we move into this new season.. but

we as a family are healthy, figuring out home schooling exploring a home church model with a few families, and have plenty of toilet

paper lol.

This past Monday I had the honour of sharing on biblical discipleship to a local YFC chapter that was also meeting and praying to see

what changes need to be made to an organization that works primarily in schools and drop in centres. One thing that isn't effected by this

situation we find ourselves in, is discipleship. Jesus poured His life intentionally into only a few, so in this time some of the youth workers

are scheduling one on one meetings via Skype or an outdoor walk with students for the purpose of discipleship.

So much is unknown at this point and there are many challenges we are facing and will continue to face but I wanted to keep this note

encouraging. My encouragement to you today and in the days to come is to fix your eyes on Him. Provision, fear, health is nothing new to

Him. A passage that has encouraged me has been Mathew 28:18 "All authority has been given to Me. Go therefore and make disciples of

all nations,.....I am with you always."

Blessings

Ben (Central Alberta Youth Unlimited)

Greetings from Vanuatu!

Thank you for reaching out to us during this time! We are used to “crises” but this time, the whole world is

experiencing the same thing - what a strange and sudden circumstance!

We, like everyone else, especially over 60 are confined to our home and can only go out for brief periods to

purchase food or other “essential reasons” so that is our life, like many of you. Our son and his family live close

by but are forbidden to come over. Of course, we cannot gather for meetings and so I’m not sure how our next

King of Kings livestream will look!

On our live streaming service, Wayne preached last week, from Daniel 11 - Those who Know their God will

Stand Firm and Take Action.

With so many things cancelled, Wayne has been able to work hard on the completion of his doctoral studies, with

only a few pages to go on his dissertation. This situation has allowed him the time for that, Praise the Lord.

I have enjoyed puttering at home, repairing, spring cleaning, reading, and connecting with others on line. I’m not

sure what next week will hold, for either of us.

Thank you all so much for remembering us, supporting us, and staying behind us in prayer. We’re listening for

God’s leading…

With blessing,

Wayne and Ann Hilsden

We are doing well here in Vanuatu! The borders have been put in lockdown and we are in a state of emergency but the clinic is still running well and there aren’t any confirmed cases in the country yet.

We could use prayer for : - the clinic as they face the uncertainty of this time. - finances for the centre as all teams and volunteers are now not able to come for the next few months Thank you for your continued prayer and support! Just wanted to update you and a newsletter will be sent out shortly for you all to enjoy! We are currently on day 6 of 14 in quarantine because we made the decision last week to try and change our tickets we had for April 16, and come home. Our oldest daughter has a scheduled C-section on the 20th, and arriving the 16th wouldn’t give us enough time to isolate before baby comes, and we had to act quickly before the borders closed to travel. She has 3 under 5 that we will take care of - she may have to be in the hospital alone if her husband shows any symptoms. We flew last Friday and were in 4 airports in total by the time we left the Edmonton airport. What an experience that was! All of our ministry is taken care of in Costa Rica for the next couple months, as well as the home we rent, etc. We continue to contact pastors and students daily in the Bible Institute via Facebook Messenger and WhatsApp - they are all ordered to be home with all churches closed, and no one out 10 pm to 5 am - all parks, and beaches closed. The indigenous areas we work in are closed off to anyone who isn’t indigenous - as it should be! It is a difficult time for them, as it is for all churches here at home. We had itineration scheduled April 26th - mid July in BC, AB, NWT, and Manitoba - for the moment, that all is suspended, so we’ll see how these next weeks play out. Thank you so much for giving to missions - we so appreciate your prayers! Know that we are praying for you guys as well..for the new ways of doing church, videos, loss of jobs, boredom, and so much more! We’re so thankful for the Lord’s faithfulness - we know we can trust him through all of this! Blessings, Gary and Kathy Heinrichs, PAOC Global Workers to Costa Rica

Flying home last Friday and in 4 airports: San Jose, Costa Rica, Atlanta, Minneapolis, and finally Edmonton!

Lacombe Pentecostal Church

"LPC purposes to see people become devoted believers in Jesus Christ."

Who having received through Christ, forgiveness and eternal life and are be-coming restored, healed, equipped and serving anointed worshippers of the Living God.

LPC is a place to belong to His family. LPC is place to become all that God has purposed for your life, actively serving in the Kingdom of God for the Glory of Christ Jesus.

We are prayerfully and intentionally seeking to raise a generation of believ-ers, who are not afraid or skeptical of the supernatural workings of the Holy Spirit and are visible, verbal, and unapologetic of the glorious hope that is within them; who are living by God's faith, and are authentic representatives of Jesus Christ.

Does it give you a sense of direction, or empowerment for you to express your spiritual and natural gifts toward the purpose?

What things, events, or ministries might you identify that has helped to ful-fill the purpose statement?

If we choose to, what two or three things could we all do to accelerate the above statement and subsequent paragraphs so that more people in City of Lacombe would become believers in Jesus Christ?

What About Church Membership?

“I don’t have to go to church to be saved. I don’t have to belong to a church to be a Christian. I can worship God in my heart.” Have you heard this popular dodge? It’s sometimes difficult to refute because it happens to be true … to a point. Nothing you do and nothing you can join makes you a Christian. The Bible makes it abundantly clear that Jesus is the only Way; that no-one comes to the Father except through Him. Q: What does the Bible say about church membership? A: The Bible is very clear that involvement in, and commitment to, a local church are essential for Christians. Throughout the New Testament the pattern of the Christian is to meet in local congregations (eg. Acts 2:46, 1 Corinthians 14:26, Ephesians 4:16, 1 Timothy 3:15). At some points we are commanded to do so (eg. Hebrews 10:25). Even Saul/Paul in Acts 9:26 – “When he came to Jerusalem he tried to join the disciples, but they were all afraid of him, not believing that he really was a disciple.” Having said that, it is true that the Bible nowhere requires membership in a church. In fact, in Biblical times there was no such thing. However, the Biblical principle is that the church is a family and a unit. The Bible speaks of the church as a family, or the household of God. Church membership is not like joining a country club; it is about joining an organic family. Church membership is a way of being accountable and becoming involved in the church and in demonstrating a commitment to Christ by participation in the church. Q: I’m committed to our church, so what difference does it make if I am a member or not? A: “Times have changed from years ago when you could have a loose relationship with the church. Our society and our laws have changed.” There are a number of key differences between people who just attend with no strings attached and the actual church member. There seems to be a deeper sense of belonging and often a higher level of commitment from the people who step out and want to be members. They are more ready to shoulder responsibility and encourage the ethos of the church. Members have the right to vote at church business meetings. This is possibly not the most exciting thing you’ve ever been able to do, but it does allow you to have a say in what the church does and how it functions. Only church members can vote for deacons (lead team members) and Lead Pastor when a new lead pastor is to be called. Only church members can raise queries and make proposals about issues at a church business meeting. They are able to vote and add input to the sale or purchase of land or buildings for the church. If you would like to have a voice in the way that our church is run and the things that it does you need to have a vote, and to have a vote, you need to be a church member. A knowledge of which people are willing to publicly associate themselves with the church by becoming members assists the church leadership in planning and effectively running the church. If you are a member of another Pentecostal Church and you have moved here to Lacombe, you can have your membership transferred. Q: How can I become a member? A: See the Application for Fellowship on the next page or at the Welcome Desk. When you find yourself in agreement with those statements, sign and apply for membership and leave it in the office or with a staff member.
