COMPETENCY TESTING
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India has allowed CUTM as
Assessing Body to get the competency of their faculty as Assessors, tested at the University.
ADVANCED TESTING AND CALIBRATION LABORATORY
The following machines have been added to the various Laboratories in CUTM:
1. Profile Projector PJ-A3000 SERIES (Model: PJ-A3005D-50 Mitutoyo, Japan) This is a multi-purpose machine which can be used for factory inspection use. It can perform precision measurement of work piece dimension, contours and surface feature.
2. Ashing Furnace (Model: AAF 11/7 Make: CARBOLITE Limited, UNITED KINGDOM)
the AAF ashing furnace is designed specifically to provide optimum ashing conditions to
ensure complete combustion of the sample.
3. Volatile Matter Furnace (Model: VMF 10/6 Make: CARBOLITE Limited, UNITED
KINGDOM). The VMF 10/6 designed for testing the volatile matter of coal according to
ISO 562:2010.
5
4. Rockwell Hardness Testing Machine –Digital (Model: A300 (HR 320MS) Mitutoyo,
Brazil). The Hardness Tester is designed to test the hardness of general steel, metals and
some non-metals to the Rockwell Hardness Test Method using A, B, C scale.
5. Analytical Sieve Shaker (Model: AS 200 digital Retsch GmbH, Germany)
AS 200 have digital time display, interval operation and analogue adjustment with optical
monitoring of the vibration height. (Vibration height adjustable from 0 to 3mm).
6. Parr Isoperibol Bomb Calorimeter (Model: 6200 with 1108P Vessel PARR INSTRUMENT
COMPANY, USA).The heat of combustion or calorific value is determined in bomb
calorimeter. It is measured by substitution procedure in which heat obtained from sample is
compared with heat obtained from combustion of similar amount of benzoic acid or
standardize material whose calorific value is known. A variety of vessels can be used for
testing samples releasing from 52 calories to 12,000 calories per test.
7. Roughness Checker Surtroni 25 (Model: Surtroni 25 Taylor Hobson Limited, England)
Every component surface has some form of texture. It is due to structure and
manufacturing. These surfaces can be broken down into three main categories: Surface
Roughness, Waviness and Form. Roughness Checker is used to quantify these parameters.
8. Xrf Spectrometer (Model: Epsilon 1 PAN Alytical B.V. The Netherlands)
The Epsilon 1 X-Ray Fluorescence Spectrometer is used for elemental analysis. The
spectral analysis of wide variety of materials can be done composites, metals, drugs,
coins, animal feed with a wide variety of sample compositions from sodium to americium
across the periodic table.

Success Story in her own Words – Jayanti Patra
“I am Jayanti Patra from Sundargarh District of Odisha. I lost my father at a young age. We are
three members in my family (mother and brother). We are a very poor family and my brother does
not keep well and it was very difficult for us to survive. I have studied up to +2 and was
unemployed. Then I heard about Gram Tarang Sewing Machine Operator Training in Naranpur,
Keonjhar Centre. I went to visit the Centre and was very happy to know that I will be employable
once I complete the training. I decided to take the training at Gram Tarang for 2 Months. Apart
from sewing, I was also trained in Life Skill and Computer. I have successfully completed the
training at GTETS and was offered a job at Bangalore in the International Clothing of Gokul Das
Exports Company. I am getting a salary every month and supporting my family. I am happy
because I am independent and able to fulfil the basic needs of my family. I am really thankful to
Gram Tarang and DDU-GKY Programme for making me skilled and employable. I am really very
happy now. Thanking you once again.”
Jayanti was awarded by Shri Naveen Patnaik and Shri. Subroto Bagchi during the inauguration of
