pleased with the attendance for Tronador School this half term but would like to stress how important it is that your child arrives on time for school. And finally I would also like to wish Mrs Orchard lots of luck with her new arrival in the next few weeks as she is starting her maternity leave today and thank her for all her hard work over the past few weeks. Year 2 Cinema trip
Year 2 went on a fantastic outing this week to the Odeon
West End Cinema as part of the first National Youth Film
festival. On our bus journey to the cinema the children also
got to see the Houses of Parliament which we have been
learning about in school. As it was the opening ceremony of
the upcoming film ‘Thor 2’, we were able to meet the
producer and two actors from it. The children then got the
chance to watch ‘Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2’ in 3D.
For a lot of the children it was their first time to the cinema
and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. After the film
a few children were chosen to be interviewed to give their
thoughts on the film!
Super Science!
On Tuesday, our Year 6 pupils went on their first trip of the year to the Science Museum. Whilst there, the children had the opportunity to explore numerous exhibits aimed at helping students make sense of the science that shapes our lives. In particular, we enjoyed the 'Who am I?' exhibit where we investigated some of the characteristics that make humans such successful species, such as personality, intelligence and language. We had lots of opportunities to experience Science first-hand in the 'Launch pad' where there were over 50 interactive activities.

Lost Property
There are still a number of
items in our lost property box
that have no names on the
clothing. If you know your child has lost an
item of uniform or PE kit this term, please
do make sure you look before the end of this
term. Over the half term, please
ensure all items of school uniform and PE kit
has your child’s name on so it can be
returned promptly.
PE Kit
A number of pupils
are still coming to
school with the
incorrect PE kit or
not bringing it in at all. PE is part of our
curriculum and it is important that all
pupils participate. Please ensure your
child has their PE kit on the
correct days (see below for your child’s
PE day) as they will not be able to take
part otherwise.

Brilliant Books!
Year 4 had a fabulous trip to the British
Library this week where the children
learnt about the type of books, records
and archives that are kept there. The
children were fascinated by the fact that
the library adds 9000 items to their
collection every week as well as housing
Britain’s oldest book and if it is exposed
to air it will crumble! The children also made their own books using traditional
folding and binding techniques which was a lot of fun!
Well done to the following pupils for
becoming part of the JLT:
Da Vinci Hawa and Rahma
Pythagoras Sufian and Jorja
Archimedes Santana and Zamzam
Copernicus Hanan and Chanelle
Gauss Issah and Aniya
Euclid Arian and Eline
Blackwell Ayisha and George
Lee Brown Siira and Myeisha
Banneker Jenae and Tola
Tobias Zayd and Shae
Bhaskara Amiyah and Dorina
Pupils in the Reception classes will
hopefully join the JLT at the start of the
Summer Term.
Tronador is working towards increasing
the Student Voice in school and
bringing in new ideas and initiatives
that children would like for their
school. As a result, a new Leadership
Team has been created which will be
known as the Junior Leadership Team
(JLT).
Each class held discussions and
children prepared speeches in order to
try to be elected and a large number of
pupils did their very best.
Meetings will be held weekly and the
two Junior Leaders from each class are
looking forward to representing the
children in their class and across the
school. We are very excited about what
lies ahead for Student Voice!
Please look out for more information
about the JLT in the coming weeks!
Start of the day—Year 3
Please note that after half term, pupils
in Year 3 will not need to line up in the
mornings as they will be allowed to
come into the building on their own
from 8:25am.
Should you wish to speak to your child’s
class teacher, either speak to them at
3:30pm or let the office know.
Pupils in Year 1 and 2 will continue to
line up in the playground.

Last Saturday saw the very first match
for our new Year 5 and 6 school
football team against Rosendale Green.
All the boys were extremely
excited and were ready to showcase
their skills. Unfortunately our very first
match also happened to be against the
league winners from last year!
However all the players tried their very
best and were positive and committed
throughout the game. We did lose the
match but everyone played to the best
of their ability. Man of the match for
this game was Rodrigo in Year 6 as he
demonstrated some excellent skills
throughout the game. Many thanks
must also go to Mr Dwayne and the
parents who came along and watched.
Our next match is tomorrow against
Peckham Park at 10:30am again at the
Rosendale playing fields—please come
along and support if you can!
On Thursday 17th October 2013 some Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to attend a chess tournament at King Solomon Academy. When we first arrived, the organisers were setting up the competition with chess boards, pieces and the timers. After having some lunch, we started off the first round. I played someone from KSA and I ended up winning by check mate. I felt very contented. Nearly all of our team won their first match. We had a break for a drink and a biscuit and
then we went into the second round. Overall it was a good tournament and we finished in second place with only half a point in it. We all got given silver medals which we wear with pride. Luckily Rodrigo (Year 6) from our team won a trophy for being one of the most successful players and winning all of his games. We all had a great time and hope there will be another tournament in the future.
