Jack Zimmerman: Student Writing Here today the 25th of April, 2012, we chose never to forget that Australian and New Zea-land troops stood side by side as they landed in ANZAC Cove on the Gallipoli Peninsula in 1915. In their hearts and minds they were there to protect our freedom. What they were met with was horrific! Barbwire, explosives, bullets and death. In our hearts and minds on this day we say thank you to all their families who they left behind and acknowledge all those who are still serving today and in the past who put their lives at risk to protect that freedom and our ability to learn. Although we can never truly understand the horrors that these brave men and women went through, today I choose never to forget and proudly wear a poppy across my heart remembering them all.
