Chimes A season of hope awaits us. The very first Resurrection day was a day of confu-sion and chaos. Jesus alive? How could that be? Yet, out of that first day hope for the first disciples and all disciples was born.
We celebrate the Resurrection of Jesus Christ each year in a variety of ways and it brings with it the same promise of hope that the first disciples needed. Hope is the gift that a new beginning is possible. Wow. That is a great gift we can be given.
I look forward to joining you on our
“Journey of Hope” that we will take in April. May each ser-vice, each moment, each celebration of Christ’s presence with us shape and guide us. Wherever your journey leads you, may you find the Risen Lord giv-ing you new hope!
See you in worship.

The late Rev. S. Hughes Garvin was pastor of St. Peter’s Episcopal
Church in Morristown, NJ. One parishioner was the daughter of the
famous American humorist Irvin S. Cobb. One year Rev. Garvin instruct-
ed his congregation that on Easter morning, the ushers would greet
them by name with the ancient Greek proclamation, “Christ is Risen!”
The parishioners were to reply, “The Lord is risen indeed!” Cobb’s
daughter was not there to hear Rev. Garvin’s instructions, but she did
appear at the Easter morning service.
“Good morning, Miss Cobb! Christ is risen!” exclaimed the usher at the
front door. Cobb looked a bit puzzled, but nodded and proceeded into
the church.
“Good morning, Miss Cobb! Christ is risen!” exclaimed the usher at the
head of the aisle. “Yes,” she replied, a bit cooly, “The gentleman at the
door told me…”
