Published Writers Cornwallis Beach Trip by Room 10
Vrrrroooom! The driver started the bus. Last Tuesday Waikowhai School went to Cornwallis Beach to have a fun day and meet other families. First everyone got on the
5 buses, suddenly Room 3 and Room 10 started to talk. The buses were slow. We had to wait for a long time. It got really hot. Finally we arrived at the beach. We huddled into our house groups. We were dressed in yellow. We looked like sunflowers. We were sitting on the lunch mats. We got our lunchboxes out and we ate our morning tea. I had a delicious sandwich and I ate it. It was full of yummy stuff. Next I went to the beach and I made a cool sandcastle with my friends. It was really fun. The sand was brown and black and soft. After that we quickly changed into our swimming togs. I rushed into the water and I swam all the way to the men standing at the back. The water tasted salty, I wanted to get out. After I changed into my normal clothes it was time for lunch. We played a bit of soccer. Finally it was time to go. We squished onto 4 buses. I hope we get to go again. The trip was really fun. By Qais Omeri “1,2,3,4….hurry up Room 10” Miss Daly counted. Last Tuesday the whole of Waikowhai Primary school went to Cornwallis Beach to have an awesome day. We wanted to meet other families and work as a team in our house groups. Room 3 and Room 10 quietly went onto the big old bus. The bus went pssssht and we were on our way. On the drive I saw beautiful trees and a view of shimmering water. I sat next to Lily and we laughed and chattered like hyenas. Finally we parked in the parking centre. “That was a long windy drive” I said. Next all of the houses sat on their big mats. There were Tui, Kea, Pukeko and Ruru. I was in Pukeko and I was green. When everybody sat I could see Kea as red as raspberries. I wanted to eat them. While I was eating my morning tea Holly suddenly appeared beside me. Then we went swimming in the freezing salty water, it was really cold. My goosebumps came up. I went rubbish picking but I found no rubbish. It was a really clean beach! I found lots of sea snails, oysters, baby mussels, cockles and scallop shells. It was fun picking up shells and learning about them. After that we had a sandcastle competition. My team made a turtle it had a big shell. We thought it looked sparkly because of the brown and black sand. I also found sqidgey seaweed, squishy bernets, fierce crabs and huge rocks. I heard loud waves crashing onto the surface. I could smell the tasty sausages floating on the fresh breeze. When I lifted my head I could see the beautiful long wharf. Finally it was time to go. We slowly squished on the buses and began the long

windy trip back to school. Some children fell asleep. I thought that the Cornwallis Beach trip was awesome. I loved building the sandcastles the most. By Joyce Wang
Cornwallis Beach Trip by Room 11 As me and my mum went up onto the car, we got stuck where the gate is. I played in the car, as I wanted for all of the buses to go for us to drive out of the school so we could go to Cornwallis Beach. The road was curly as. Later we arrived! I saw the sparkling water, the teachers shouted we needed to do the beach clean up. Later we went to the beach for the clean and I found no rubbish. Thirdly we had lunch, I had sausages for lunch . come one gave me a cup but it was full of chips! Finally we got to swim in the water I ran to the sparkly water, I jumped in and it was very cold, I got out and my feet got all sandy. At last we went home. By Ben Lee “The moment has come” I said in my brain. The whole school is so excited for the journey to Cornwallis, I can’t wait to meet new fun friends. Our school is ready to explore the extraordinary beach. “To Cornwallis” I shouted. As we jumped on the bus I could hear children screaming from the other end of the bus. Even though it was extremely hot in the bus, I had to sit still. Minutes later the road started to bet bumpy. I started to bounce at the same time. Eventually when we go there, we got changed fast like a flash. Eewww! This sand is gooey. The sand squished between by toes. Although I was all dirty we made a great sand sculpture. Meanwhile we saw the sparkling water…. Shivers I am freezing. By Dorothy Brunt Hooray the moment I had been waiting for! When we arrived at Cornwallis the whole entire school had to clean up bunches of rubbish on the beach. Next we were so starving that we got o have morning tea, so we weren’t starving at all. After that we were so sweaty and hot we got to go swimming! It was so warm I wanted to stay in the wavy ocean. By Antonio Mata-‐Uluave
