NEWSLETTER 38 – 10th NOVEMBER 2017
PRINCIPALS REPORT Transition Days Our final two transition days for our 2018 Foundation students will be on Thursday 23rd November (9:00 – 1:00 pm) and Tuesday 12th December (9:00 – 2:00 pm) with a predicated class size of 17 students. Remembrance Day
One of the many amazing traditions that we have at our school is participating in the annual Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Oxley Park. Each year our school rehearses two songs along with the Milawa Primary School students to sing at the ceremony and our captains each play a role in participating in the ceremony. This year Remembrance Day falls on a Saturday so we are asking parents to bring their child/ren along to the ceremony. Thank you to the parents who have already responded to let us know that your child/ren will be at the ceremony.

Families that have indicated that they are attending the event are as follows: Neu, Smith, Byrne, Uebergang, Bennett, Philpott, Fraser, Morris, Leask, Hughes, Box – Corsini, Mullins and Miller. Please let us know if you are able to attend the day so that we can add you to the list. Classroom Structure 2018 At School Council last week I released our classroom structure for next year, however as I discussed it still may change depending on numbers. This week we picked up another student who will be starting with us just after the Melbourne Cup weekend and he will be in the year 1 and 2 class, which will give us a possible enrolment of 93 students in 2018. At this stage, we are going to go with the 5-classroom structure in 2018, which gives our students the best possible student to teacher ratio possible, however it is vital that we know confirmed numbers so that we are sure that we can support this structure. We will also have plenty of support for both our students and staff next year with both Julie and Nadia playing supporting roles with the junior classes as well as Mr Shaw expressing an interest to increase his hours to an extra day to mentor our senior students and teachers at the school. Please call in and let us know if you are aware of any students who are still to enrol in a school for 2018 or if you are moving from the area. Parents in and out of the School Thank you to everyone who comes into our wonderful school to volunteer for a wide range of activities. Please remember to sign in and out as if we have an emergency then we need to know who is on site. Upcoming Events
Remembrance Day There are poppies, badges and bands available for purchase from the office foyer. Prices range from $1.00. Embrace Night (For women / adults) AT OXLEY PRIMARY SCHOOL Embrace is a 2016 Australian documentary film directed by Taryn Brumfitt. It concerns women's body image and is a response to surveys showing that 90% of women are "highly dissatisfied" with their bodies. It includes interviews with Mia Freedman, editor of the Australian Cosmopolitan and television talk-show hosts Amanda de Cadenet and Ricki Lake. We will be holding a film night at school on the 17th November at 7.30pm where we will show Taryn Brumfitt’s documentary EMBRACE. Details are on the flyer attached to this newsletter. We have capped the numbers at 100 so go online and book now. A huge thank you to Sheree Hallinan for organising this event.

Helping Hand Needed If we could have some help to pull down the frame outside the year 5/6 room this weekend that would be greatly appreciated as we have our new Inclusive Schools Building works starting on the 20th of November. Jeremy will be calling out after the Remembrance Day ceremony to do this if you are available.
