Thank you to Mrs Sweeney and our amazing staff for all of your hard work while I was on leave. This year our school will be having a focus on improving literacy and numeracy results through improved differentiated student learning and increased teacher professional learning. As a school, we would love to hear your thoughts on learning at Prairievale Public School! Therefore, over the next few weeks, we will be sending home some surveys and also giving you a call to discuss your thoughts on our school. We really would value your feedback to support our collaborative partnership! Our new library is almost finished. I have had a sneak peak at the sparkling new furniture and cant wait to explore the world of literature within our new environment! Mrs Rajapakse has been busy putting all of our books into the new shelving to allow for the library to be back operational in the coming weeks. I look forward to seeing our community at the annual P&C AGM on Friday, 13th March at 2pm ! Mrs Challenor

From the Office

School Contributions have been capped at $30 for the first

child and $20 for all siblings.

All families who pay their contributions before end of term 1 will

go into the draw to win 1 of 2 family passes to Aquatopia Water

Park for the holidays.

Thankyou to all those families who have paid their contributions

already.

First Aid

While every care is taken to look after your child when they are sick or

injured, we are not a hospital or a dentist and can only provide basic

care. This will involve bandaids for cuts and scratches, itchy cream and

freeze spray for bites and stings and ice packs for bumps and bruises.

All students with head injuries, from falling over to walking into a pole,

will be put into sick bay to rest, given an ice pack and a phone call will

be made to advise parents.

For toileting accidents, we will change the child into clean clothes if we

have any left. Unfortunately many of the items we send home are not

washed and returned.

For some toileting and vomiting incidents, it will be necessary to call a

parent to come and collect the child urgently.

Please ensure all contact details are up to date.

Class in Focus

4/5R

It has been a great start to the year in 4/5R. We have been learning lots of

amazing things. Tech time is our favourite, as we are learning to use new digital

technology and learning how to work together as a team. In Maths, we have

been working on our mental strategies to solve problems. We are working on

challenging ourselves, trying

hard to push each other to try

our best. We can’t wait to see

where the rest of the year will

take us!

Leadership Report Welcome back to school everyone! The leadership team are excited to begin

2020 just as much as you are. We will face new challenges, we will discover

new things, make new friends and have new learning opportunities.

All students at Prairievale Public School are included and welcomed by teachers

and students. As students, we are looking forward to all the cool adventures

we will go on as well as the fun we’re going to have along the way.

As we start 2020 make sure you are following our school rules:

BE SAFE

Be safe means to follow the rules in each area as well as in the classroom. On

Area A or on concreted areas students must walk. If you want to play ball

games, you can use Areas B, C or D. In the classroom follow the rules and listen

to your teacher’s instructions.

BE RESPECTFUL

Being respectful means to listen to your teachers and to your friends. Be kind

and respect others for who they are.

BE RESILIENT

Being resilient means to be responsible and try your best in everything you do

also to control your actions.

If you follow the PBL rules at Prairievale, you might receive a ‘GOTCHA’ from a

teacher. On Friday morning, you might be the lucky one to get a reward.

Thank you to the students who participated in Year 6 Mufti Day

fundraiser. We raised $392.00.

Until next month,

Annisha and Razan

Class in Focus - 3V

3V have been learning about how to be persuasive when writing!

Here you can see all of us writing examples of the persuasive

devices we read from the book I Wanna Iguanna by Karen

Kaufman Orloff. We can’t wait to start using our persuasive skills on our teachers and parents!

We have also had the opportunity to take part in Clean Up Australia Day on Friday the 28

th of February. It was a great

afternoon for us as we got to walk around Area C wearing our white gloves and picking up rubbish. It is always important to keep our school clean!

Well done 3V
