From the Desk of the Principal Dear Parents,
Greetings from DYPIS!
‘Our moments of inspiration are not lost though we have no particular poem to show for them; for those experiences have
left an indelible impression, and we are ever and anon reminded of them.’ Henry David Thoreau
The second term has been a kaleidoscope of activities beginning with the vibrant and colourful Inter-House Dramatics
Competition where every student got an opportunity to contribute to this mega event and blossom as an individual. While
the Dramatics Competition celebrated the creative and histrionic skills of the students, the fun-filled and happening Annual
Sports Day brought out the healthy spirit of competitiveness in every child.
We at DYPIS strongly believe in making learning an enjoyable and compelling experience. With this aim in mind, students
have been engaged in an array of activities and events both curricular and co curricular. Events such as Inter-House De-
bate Competitions, Spell bee, GK Quiz, Integrated Science Project, Battle of the Bands were a testimony to the fact that
this generation of children is a powerhouse of myriad talents waiting to be tapped and channelized.
Students were also treated to treks and field trips where they successfully blended fun and learning with service activities
and returned enriched and rejuvenated. While the High School students voiced their views on various social issues with
conviction, Middle School students used their creativity and imagination as a tool to express themselves during Gender
Equality Week and World Water Day.
This term also witnessed the Students of IGCSE and IBDP – Class of 2018 along with the dedicated team of teachers put-
ting in immense hard work for the Board Examinations. I wish the very best to each one taking the examination and am
certain that each one will do us proud.
As we gear up for yet another brand new academic year, I wish to thank all our dear parents for their unflinching support
that has helped us to surge ahead.
Looking forward to greater achievements in days to come…
Wishing you all a healthy, safe and refreshing summer break!

In DYPIS we focus on the all round
development of our students. They
are encouraged to excel in varied
subjects like fine arts, sports, music
and performing arts to bring vi-
brancy to their learning.
Art
Art is the best medium of expres-
sion. With this ideology in mind Mid-
dle School students learned tints
tones and shades of colors. Pencil
shading and sketching art projects
were practiced in second term. They
learned texture scenery, abstract
art, poster color blending. Students
worked on 3D Art installation for Art
exhibition and did canvas painting
for display. Students of IGCSE year
1 and 2 learned tie and dye, applied
the same on designing handkerchief
and T-shirt paintings. Art competi-
tion was conducted on the occasion
of Gender Equality Week .Art Com-
petition was also organized on the
occasion of anti racism day.
Music
In DYPIS we believe music lends a
soul to the universe, wings to the
mind and life to everything. The stu-
dents of DYPIS learned vocal, gui-
tar, drums, keyboard and percussion
instruments like congo, tambourine
and egg shakers. They learned how
to play them individually and with all
the other instruments. The students
also worked on the song selection
and composition of their musical en-
sembles which they had to present
during ‘Battle of the Bands’.
Theatre
Alfred Hitchcock once rightly said,
“Drama is life with the dull bits cut
out”. Apart from that drama also
teaches us the basic discipline and
sharpens performing skill in all as-
pects. DYPIS ensures that the stu-
dents receive the best of training
and have appointed a special faculty
who is one of the best from the in-
dustry to give students the enriched
theatrical experience and to gain
knowledge. Grade 6 and 7 did a fun
activity called Two Headed Monster
Game to make them understand the
importance of coordination in drama.
Grade 8 performed on ‘Top of the
Mop’ and Grade 9 and 11 were in-
troduced to mime acting.

Dr. Seuss said, “The more that you read,
the more things you will know. The more
that you learn, the more places you’ll
go.” In DYPIS Library, students assigned
titles to different books. Students also did
various reading activities while celebra-
tion of different author’s birthday. IGCSE
1 and 2 students worked on Library for
project “Contribution of Indian State to-
wards India’s Progress”. This project
helped them to gain some knowledge
about India. Stephen Hawking, who roved the Cosmos in a wheelchair, is now
with the stars. His contributions to Science were the focus of many reading ac-
tivities by the students.
Technology @ DYPIS
Learning is fun with the help of technology. In Term 2, the Tech and Animation
club dealt with learning the animations using stykz software where students
learned to give animation to the stick pictures. Small stories having alien charac-
ters, football games and chasing games were created by the students.
Learning to Lead Programme In DYPIS we believe that Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in action. Keeping this in
mind many team-building activities were organized that invoked the traits of leadership in them. The students of
Grade 11, participated in a culmination programme, hosted by Akanksha Kumar and Manoranjan Kumar, from Grade
11 B. The programme involved eight different teams, each wearing their leadership skills like a badge, using various
forms of performances such as live painting, drama, dance, music and poetry. This fun-filled event was concluded

Annual Sports Meet 8th Annual Sports Meet for the aca-
demic year 2017-18 was organized
on Wednesday, 31st January, 2018.
For the holistic development of stu-
dents, DYPIS focuses not only on
academic excellence but also on de-
veloping such virtues as persever-
ance, team spirit and determination
that shall be the backbone of the
students throughout life. The Sports
Meet commenced with the March-
past that was judged by our special
guest, Lieutenant Suvarna Patil. This
was followed by lighting of the torch
by the torch bearers, Akanksha
Kumar and Shreyash Chaugle, the
Sports Captains.
The Chief Guests for this occasion
were the proud parents of the Junior
Head Boy, Aryan Singh and the Jun-
ior Head Girl, Trisha Putcha. The
event kicked off with the flag host-
ing ceremony followed by a few
wise words by the respected Princi-
pal, Mrs. Nivedita Sinha who en-
couraged the students to be resilient

Fun & Frolic all the way! Annual Sports Day
Mathematics Day
On account of Mathematics Day,
which was organized on Tuesday,
13th March, 2018, the IBDP cohort
got together to partake in some fun
activities. The event started with a
presentation by Naysa Rastogi,
Umang Sharma and Manoranjan
Kumar of IBDP Year 1 on how sta-
tistics is not always reliable and
trustworthy. Through various exam-
ples of mathematical errors, propa-
ganda and deception, and the ethics
of such manipulation, the presenta-
tion drove home the point that sta-
tistics only presents the picture that
we want to highlight. The truth
sometimes gets hidden in the way
the data is represented. The pres-
entation provided a new perspective
into the nature of Mathematics and
how we view it in real life.
After the presentation the students
were divided into random groups and
were given two tasks to perform.
The first task was based on the
Geometric Sequence present in
snowflakes where the students for-
mulated the sequence for the pe-
rimeter and area of the ever evolv-
ing shape. The second task dealt
with quadratic functions and how
they can be used to find the number
of pieces that can be cut from a cake
with a given number of cuts. The
event was a demonstration of team-
work and co- operation and pushed
the mental capabilities of students to
the fullest.
Through the events the students
learnt the important skills of problem
solving in collaboration with their
peers. The presentation on Statistics
gave the students an insight into the
nature of Math and its link to the
theory of knowledge.
CNN #My Freedom Day, 2018
On Wednesday, 14th March, 2018,

interpreted freedom from different
perspectives. The students of AS
Level (Grade 11 A) participated in a
panel discussion on the topic
‘Freedom – A Right or A Privilege’.
The students were divided into two
groups. Both the groups participated
in the discussion with a lot of enthu-
siasm. They shared a variety of rea-
sons why they consider Freedom as
a Right or a Privilege. They also
discussed the ways to manage di-
verse perspectives of freedom in
order to encourage and support the
marginalized groups and the ways to
ensure their growth in vivid cultural
milieus. Round Square Deliberations,
the event for IBDP Year 1 (Grade 11
B) students, focused on multiple
perspectives on the theme of
"Freedom and the way it impacts and
is perceived by the various stake
holders". Students came up with in-
teresting strategies for addressing
bias at various levels to ensure
freedom to all without any discrimi-
nation with a hope for a better fu-
ture and equal rights for all. Grade 9
students made poster on the same
topic.

Inter-House Competitions High School English Debate
‘For good ideas and true innovation, you need human interaction,
conflict, argument, debate. ‘ On Tuesday, 14th November 2017, the
High School students participated in Inter-house Debate competition,
after attending a training session which aimed at honing their debat-
ing skills. The motion was ‘Shakespeare is irrelevant today’. The
competition was divided into two rounds – Individual Speech Round
and Rebuttal Round. Each house was represented by two speakers
and an interjector. While the Individual Speech Round gave students
a platform to put forth their views and showcase their oratory skills
with precision, the Rebuttal Round ensured that the students were
intrigued by the questions posed by the interjectors. Participants
made convincing arguments regarding the wide spread monopoly of
Shakespeare in English Literature. The opponents justified it by not-
ing his multitudinous contributions while the proponents held him li-
able for over shadowing other writers.
Middle School Inter-Class English Debate Debate is one of the academic activities that gives students creative
room to express themselves. The length and breadth of knowledge that
they gain through this is simply unparallel. The Middle School Inter-
Class English Debate competition for grade 8 was held on Thursday,
22nd March and that for grade 7 was held on Thursday 29th March,
2018. The topics were ‘Celebrities get away with more crimes than non-
celebrities’ and ‘Academic dishonesty: the first step to corruption’ re-
spectively. It was very evident that the teams were well prepared and
they used various rhetorical skills to convince the audience. The partici-
pants exhibited great oratorical skills.
