    Womens Camp 2011

Come to Camp! This year it's in Macroom. 6th to 27th July 2011

For many years, women and children from Ireland and elsewhere have been gathering

at the Irish Women's Summer Camp. The camp is primarily lesbian, and all women

    respecting this are welcome.

Each year some women undertake to find land and set up camp. After that, the camp

is run by all the women who come to it, in a spirit of autonomy and self-sufficiency.Every woman is part of the daily running of camp & takes on tasks or shares a job. On

the last Thursday of camp, a Big Meeting is held to plan for the next year.

Camp is an opportunity for us to live without our usual routines but in comfort and

the company of women. The facilities on site are aimed at providing us with all the

comfort that camping allows! Showers, sweats, trench latrines & drainage are all part

    of the camp experience.

We rely on each other to keep camp comfortable and well-organised, and it is very

important for every woman to regularly participate in the Camp jobs. There are

regular tasks, such as woodchopping, cooking, recycling, diggingyou can share your

skills or learn a new one by working with someone elseit's a good way for us to getto know each other, and keeps camp running well!

For more information, please email [email protected] we also have

attached an amended Camp Leaflet Please check it out.

Just to let you know that our own Queen himself Dave Roche is taking part in the Irish

GAZE Absolut short documentary on public/ private displays of affection callout for participants.

We are looking for participants for a short documentary film with the working titlePDA (Public / Private Displays of Affection) which has been commissioned by GAZEAbsolut Filmmakers. It will be directed by Anna Rodgers (producer of Growing up

Gay. Co-director/ Writer of Stand Up) and produced by Zlata Filipovic (Stand Up).The production company is Crossing The Line Films (www.ctlfilms.com) who were alsoinvolved in Growing Up Gay and Stand Up, and the film will premiere at the GAZEFilm Festival in July 2011.The film is about the simple act of holding hands, kissing or holding someone youlove. These little gestures of human connectedness carry huge personal significancebut also, the potent power to create social change. Yet, for most people, beingaffectionate outside of their own four walls isnt intended as a political statement its an expression of love. This film moves between the public and private spaces inwhich Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender couples live, and explores physicalexpressions of affection and our feelings about doing it in public. We are hoping to meet couples living in both rural and urban towns or cities in

Ireland who are interested in taking part in the film. We will feature 4 to 5 couples inthe final film in the form of short individual vignettes. We would like to find coupleswith different attitudes (even within the one relationship) - those with positive andnegative experiences or feelings about PDAs, people living in various circumstancesand areas, as well as people who are at a turning point in their relationship. Youcould be moving in together, getting civil partnered, moving house, having a baby, or

going through any number of changes or simple universal moments which occur in allof our lives. You also might be in a new relationship or a long term one. We're veryopen to talk to all of you! Likewise, if you have a friend you think would beinterested, pass on the message. We rely on recommendations of people to feature indocumentaries so really appreciate your assistance in getting the word out there. We'd especially like to find some older LGBT couples and also, anyone having a civilpartnership ceremony in June or July. Please feel free to pass this note on and anyone may contact us for more information and details on [email protected] /[email protected] can explain the film and what it would entail to people individually. As it's a shortfilm, we won't be filming with people for more than a day or two but it's a personal

subject and important you ask us lots of questions before you decide to participate. We'd be very happy to discuss it with any couple who are interested.Thank you! Anna and Zlata
