Parents also welcome

In June-July 2010, students, aged 15 – 18 years,

from over 15 countries will be arriving in Australia to study at local schools for 3, 5 or 10 months. Op-portunities exist to act as a host family in a volun-teer/unpaid capacity. Hosting can be on a tempo-

rary, short or long term basis.

Host families help provide our students with the chance to study and experience life in Australia.

This is a great way to learn about another country and culture, establish a lifelong link to a family in another country and contribute to international

goodwill. If your family can offer a friendly, suppor-tive and caring home environment, contact us to-

day.

To learn more about this opportunity call Student Exchange Australia New Zealand

on 1300 135 331 or visit our website: www.studentexchange.org.au

Better Schools Program

Epsom Primary School is participating in the Better

Schools program at the Bendigo Marketplace this

year.

Through this program you can help our school win

a Canteen Rescue package valued at $40,000.

Schools will also be competing to win cash prizes:

1st prize $2,000

2nd prize $1,000

3rd prize $500

In addition, Bendigo Marketplace will be awarding

weekly prizes that our school can use in our own

fundraising activities.

Simply present your receipts at the Customer Ser-

vice Desk in the Bendigo Marketplace or use the

quick drop box located at our school office, and

receive one point for every dollar you spend at the

Bendigo Marketplace.

Nominate our school and your points will be added

to the schools tally.

The rewards program runs for 6 weeks starting

on the 17th of May.

Please continue to shop at the local shopping cen-

tre if you currently do so but any additional shop-

ping you do at the Marketplace may benefit the

school. Thank you

Our school has registered for „See the Person

Week” organised by SCOPE. They are a dis-

ability service offering a range of services for

people with disabilities and are conducting a

fundraiser.

Fundraising wrist bands are available for $2

from the Junior School Council.

Headphones

By now all children have been issued headphones if they ordered them. I assume the children who

did not order are bringing some headphones from home however we still have many children with

no headphones. The children need headphones to listen to audio on computers and ipods for Read-

ing and Maths. We do have some headphones left over so it you would like to order please send $6

dollars in an envelope with your childs grade and name to the office.

Websmart 12. School email accounts are to be used at school. All children in grades 2/3 3/4 and 5/6 have their own epsomps email address. This is to be used in all school work. Our school email accounts are filtered for bad language auto-matically by Netspace. Prep/1 and 1/2's have a class email account that is used. 15. I will not download files/updates from the internet without permission from a teacher. This can cause too many downloads and create problems for our bandwidth. Sometimes it may be allowed as a once only but you need to ask a teacher. Our technician downloads most updates for the school in one go on the server. These are then downloaded from the server to each computer rather than from the internet. This ease the traffic and helps our broadband work faster when lots of people are online. Hope this is helpful from,

Jenny Ashby Leading Teacher ICT Specialist and Administrator
