Message from Mike Fisher (Chair of Governors) Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed a good break with their families and friends, and are now looking forward to a happy and successful 2019. 2018 was a very eventful year in the history of Beaumont School. In January we received the Ofsted report confirming that the school is outstanding in all areas, in May we celebrated our 50th birthday as a school and in December we were chosen as Croydons Primary School of the year. We also said goodbye to Mrs Harvey after 18 years as our Headteacher and we now welcome and look forward to working with Mrs Morrell as she takes up the role. We start 2019 as the top performing school in Croydon and amongst the best schools in the country. We have much to be proud of, but also much to live up to and build on. The hard work and commitment of our staff and pupils, together with the support of our parents and carers, helps us set the very high standards we will be looking to achieve again in the coming year. The Board of Governors looks forward to working with the school community, so that we continue to deliver the very best for each of our pupils in 2019. Message from Mrs Morrell, Headteacher Dear Parents/Carers A Happy New Year to you all and welcome back. I am very excited and privileged to be the next Headteacher of Beaumont Primary School. I look forward to continue working with the school community and building on our achievements. Best wishes Anne Morrell NEWSLETTER 1 SPRING 2019 (07.01.2019)

Message from Mrs Morrell, Headteacher

Dear Parents/Carers

I am very excited and privileged to be the next Headteacher of

Beaumont Primary School. I look forward to continue working with

the school community and building on our achievements.

NEWSLETTER 1 SPRING 2019 (07.01.2019)

Spring Term Learning

Children are bringing home a Class Newsletter and Learning Map

today. Please note that children are expected to have PE kit in

school on the required days. On the back of the Learning Map

parents are advised of home learning, activities and places to visit

that would support the topic for the term. Children are expected to

read every evening, and learn the weekly spellings and tables.

Home Learning should be completed as requested by the Class

Teacher and handed in on time. Parents’ support with Home

Learning is much appreciated.

Cold Weather Clothing - School Uniform Check

Be prepared for the cold weather! Hats and fleece scarves are available to buy from the School Office priced at £5.50 and £6 respectively.

Please ensure children are wearing correct uniform - ie. pupils are wearing grey trousers (not black) and check that all clothes are named - including PE kit, jackets, hats and scarves. Unnamed items in Lost Property cannot be returned to rightful owners. Only gold studs are to be worn (no diamante/hanging earrings). Hairbands should be plain and worn to hold hair in place (large ornate hair ornaments are unsuitable for school). All children should be wearing black shoes - not trainers.

The new style winter jacket is available from www.online schooluniform.co.uk (samples in school to try for size).

Phonics Workshop

On Tuesday, 22nd January at 9am there is a Phonics Workshop for

all parents in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

Places at Beaumont - Reception Class, September 2019

over 300 visitors with a view to applying for a Reception place in

September this year. It is expected that the Reception Class in

September 2019 will be full with a long waiting list. The closing

date for applications is 15th January. There are 6 siblings known

to us so far, leaving 24 places for new families - please advise us if

you have a sibling whose birth date is between 01.09.2014 and

31.08.2015 please note you still have to apply for a place. The

next Open Morning is on 10th January starting at 10am promptly.

Attention Please! - School Closure due to Snow & Ice

You will receive a text alert message should it be necessary to

close the school due to extreme weather conditions, or for any

other reason affecting the safety of the school community. Please

ensure the school office has your most recent telephone

number – should this have changed.

Families living / working further away from school should consider

making alternative arrangements for collection of their children in

difficult conditions. Please let the school know who will take

responsibility for collection on these occasions. Please note the

Breakfast / After School Club “Buddies” will be closed, should the

school be unable to open.

Norovirus Guidelines

We have been advised by the Health Protection Agency to remind you to be vigilant of the Winter Vomiting Virus.

If your child has an outbreak of diarrhoea and/or vomiting, please keep them at home and they should not return to school for 48 hours after normal bowel habits have returned and/or vomiting has stopped. P lease remind your children to wash their hands thoroughly after using the toilet.

Children should not go swimming for two weeks after the outbreak.

and finally……..

If your child has a cold, but is well enough to attend school, can

you please ensure he/she has their own handy pack of tissues as

the school is not responsible for supplying tissues. However if you

were also able to supply a box of tissues for the classroom it would

be greatly appreciated.
