Newsletter no.1

1st February 2016

Hi,

Welcome to Team Infinity and our very first newsletter. So where do we start? After several months’ hard graft, our website has finally been launched and we are ready to hit the ground running. Our tours are planned, hotels and villas booked, kit designed and ordered and everything is in place.

So what is this all about? Sort of a “star for a week” experience for enthusiastic road cyclists. Want to know how it feels to be in a pro team? Well now you can. Our tours and trips are designed with the professional experience in mind. We offer training plans, bike fitting, nutritional advice and team kit on top of a trip you won’t forget.

So let’s meet the team:

Steve, the Director and founder of the company. A seasoned racer and enthusiast has years of experience in organising cycling trips and plans to share his wealth of knowledge with you. Steve is also trained in bike fitting and will be running the post-ride-pre-beer foam roller sessions after each ride. If you want to get in touch, you can, at [email protected]

What’s Steve been doing lately? “I’ve been working flat out to get everything in place for all these trips and the launch of the website. I’ve been following a training plan to keep me at a good level of fitness over the winter, because I need structure to motivate me over the winter months. Lisa’s been testing out her nutritional advice on me, and it turns out Christmas cake wasn’t on the list of top recovery foods, which was disappointing. I’m excited about the coming months, but am

especially excited to show you some highlights of Yorkshire, as showcased in the Grand

Depart in 2014 and the Tour de Yorkshire. You really need to see how special it is, and what better way than by bike?”

Lisa, the good lady behind Steve, also a cyclist and seasoned cycle holiday goer. She’ll be whipping you into shape with training plans, bike fitting and nutritional advice, and making

sure that you are in tip-top shape going into your tour and that you recover at the end of each ride as much as possible for the next day. Lisa will be accompanying the trips to Alicante, Yorkshire, Dolomites and Picos in 2016, but is always keen to hear other ideas for future trips or help with bespoke trips if you can’t make any of this year’s dates.

What has she been doing recently? ‘Well, we spent Christmas cycling in the Algarve, which was beautiful, and definitely something we’ll consider for winter training locations in the future. Since then I’ve been readjusting to the British weather, completing my qualifications in Sports Nutrition and Personal Training, whilst trying to work full time and get some sport in, and plan a wedding. It’s all coming together nicely!”

There is also a whole raft of supporters who will be accompanying us on the trips – riding and/or guiding. Some of their bios are on the website. Check them out.

Alicante Week Training Camp

The first tour this year is in April, and has more of a ‘training camp’ feel to it. We’re staying in a single base for the week and will do a range of rides over different terrain. We’ve booked a luxury villa to make everyone feel at home and enjoy relaxation off the bike. You can chill in, or by the pool, or just sit in the lounge or your room with some music.

This tour will be perfect for dusting off the winter cobwebs and getting the legs ready for the summer, whatever your goals are, or simply providing you with a physical challenge and some sunshine after the long UK winter. Evening meals will be home-cooked by Lisa and the support crew and will be specially chosen to ensure your body gets what it needs to recover and refuel. And they’ll taste nice too. All of the dishes have been tested out on Steve over time and he’s a happy man.

Yorkshire Week Training Camp

An opportunity to take a whole week to immerse yourself in Yorkshire for a whole week and see just a small part of the area, sweat your way up its hills and scream your way down its hills. And in amongst all that you can marvel at the rugged moorland and the picturesque villages. We’re staying in a luxury cottage in the centre of Middleham on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, where you can unwind every evening and enjoy home-cooked meals.

The Grand Depart in 2014 made some of the Yorkshire Dales’ climbs famous, and we’ll be riding them – Cote de Buttertubs, Cote de Cray (or locally known as Kidson’s Pass), and Cote de Grinton Moor. It’s tough but rewarding. The week will also take in the North Yorkshire Moors – a place close to our hearts. It’s a notoriously tough place to cycle with the roads rising up in front of you at impossibly steep gradients. But there’s little that can match their beauty and it’s always worth the graft. Just ask Lisa about Boltby Bank. It’s been nearly 2 years and she’s still not stopped going on about it! If you’re curious, here’s the YouTube video of someone going up it (it doesn’t really do it justice, so it’s not spoiling the surprise! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-tFdH1RIg8

That’s all for this month. Stay tuned for the next edition. We’ll be sharing our thoughts on some of the other trips and will hopefully be able to show off our new Team Infinity kit for on
