Senior students are requested to arrive just prior to their first scheduled lesson/homeroom and leave immediately after their last lesson. We have also requested updated email addresses as the Newsletter and other school communications are distributed via email. Entering and leaving the school grounds safely: All students should enter and leave the school grounds via the gates on Mowbray Road or use the laneway near the canteen and exit on to Keary St close to the pedestrian crossing. No student should enter or leave the school grounds via the Keary Street carpark or Medway Lane (Post Office Lane). Students should use the pedestrian crossing to cross Keary St. Many girls have risked serious injury by crossing at other points. Students are reminded to cross the road in time to catch their bus – do not run across the road as the bus is approaching. Parents should not use the playground or car parks to drop off or pick up students, or to complete a U- turn, as such activities increase the possibility of an accident or injury occurring. Winter uniform reminder: With the return to face to face teaching, and of cold wet weather, students should take all necessary steps to ensure that they have the correct uniform items to wear to school every day. Any student temporarily unable to wear school uniform should bring a note of explanation to Mrs Budd or the Deputy Principals before school commences to obtain a Uniform Pass for the day. Please remember: scarf should be navy; extra jumper/skivvy should be white and worn under the tunic or blouse, but only under the school jumper. The sports jacket or jumpers with hoods are not part of our uniform and should not be worn. Mrs Watts Deputy Principal Newsletter 05 June 2020 Term 2 Week 6

Subject Selection Program for Students in Year 10

Decisions about subject selections for 2021 Year 11 are very important. To assist students and parents with this important decision, Willoughby Girls High School will conduct a Subject Selection Program for Year 10 students from Wednesday 1st to Friday 3rd July 2020 during normal school lesson time. Note: During the three days, the Year 10 students will also be sitting for their HSC Minimum Standard tests. This Year 10 Subject Selection program will provide relevant information to assist students who will enter

Year 11 in 2021. In particular, it will focus on issues related to the award of the NSW Higher School

Certificate including; requirements, assessment, the UAC and VET courses. As English is the only

compulsory subject for the HSC, students entering Year 11 in 2021 have some very important decisions to

make regarding their subject selections. The Senior School Curriculum Booklet for Year 11 2021 and Year

12 2022 will be emailed to students and parents early next term. In the same email, a link for the subject

selection process will be provided.

Relevant links, such as UAC, NESA and curriculum, will be emailed to parents/guardian soon. Hopefully the

parents/guardians will gain better understanding about Higher School Certificate, promoting and allowing

informative discussions with their daughters in the upcoming holidays.

Students in Year 10 are encouraged to start thinking about their subject selections for 2021, students

should choose subjects which they have an interest in, suit their capability and their future career

aspirations. Students and parents should seek as much advice as possible before making any decisions

regarding subject choices. Teachers, Head Teachers, Year Advisers and the Careers Adviser can all assist in

this process.
