Meadows School Newsletter 03 November 2014 A wonderful day was enjoyed by all for our Children in Need fund-raiser. Thanks to the organisation skills of Miss Pegram, your amazing generosity and the hard work and good behaviour of the children we raised just over £1,000 all told our best ever! More good news – our recent non-uniform day raised £271 for School Fund and the PTFA Macmillan coffee morning raised around £200. Thanks again for your support Feedback from the Parent Focus Group – this group has now met twice and is due for one more meeting before Christmas. The purpose of the group is to provide me with an overview of parental opinion about a whole range of school-related issues. This will then inform the next 5-year Improvement Plan for the school. The staff and governors are going to begin to develop the new Plan during the INSET day to be held on 23 February, so please complete the slip at the end of this newsletter if you have any final opinions you would like to be considered for the future of the school. The Focus Group has already looked at the views that were gathered through the summer term end- of-year survey, so no need to repeat anything you stated then. A few routine reminders: Another polite parking request – this time it’s Meadow Vale. Please don’t bunk up or park on the pavement, this is causing a safety issue, especially as we are without a crossing patrol at the moment Uniform reminder. Please have a look on the school website to check all uniform regulations, especially regarding footwear, which specifically states “no trainers or boots”. If children wear boots to school when the weather is really bad, they must change into indoor footwear whilst in the classrooms (either P.E. plimsolls or black school shoes) Coming up soon: Wrap-a-present next week – Tues 2 nd & Weds 3 rd December – see separate PTFA leaflet for details of classes/days/cost Phil-the-Bag next Thursday 4 th December School Christmas Fair Friday 5 th December Infant and Junior concerts during week beginning 8 th December Junior classes to Derby Theatre Monday 8 th December School Christmas dinner Wednesday 10 th December Infant classes to Guildhall Theatre Tuesday 16 th December Y6 to lead carol service at St Alkmund’s Church Wednesday 17 th December

The school website – is in the process of being revised so please take a look on:

www.duffieldmeadows.derbyshire.sch.uk

There are a number of items which schools now have to display on their websites as an Ofsted requirement, so we are busy putting all of that into place. It’s still a work in progress but Mr Dawson and I would appreciate some feedback so far – on the attached reply slip, please. Coming to the website soon:

Photos and pen portraits of school staff

Parent log-ins for the new Learning Portal (to replace the old Learning Platform) Details of school performance data 2014
