November 2017 the NEWSCOMER CITRUS NEWCOMERS CLUB Citrus County, Florida Our October luncheon at the Royal Oaks Country Club was a picture-perfect venue. Food was delicious with very attentive service. As I was leaving the Club, Bunny Bucci introduced me to the restaurant manager who said that her wait staff was impressed with our polite group of ladies. Thank you ladies, you have always impressed me. Sharon Maxwell, Regina Keadle and I wore matching plaid pants and did a mini fashion show skit. It was a lot of fun. A funnier story is at my church last Sunday, there was a gal in the choir wearing the same plaid pants. Will these pants never end? I guess not. LOL. We also had creative and scary Halloween attire modeled by BJ Shueneman, Jan Bauer, Mary Beth Marquardt and Ruthie Merk. ChaChing…Ruthie Berg, Barbara W Jurgens, Barbara L Jurgens did an extraordinary job selling 50/50 raffle tickets. They collected $354. Congratulations to Terry Prince, Sue Moline and Ardeth Kafka who each took home $59. A special thanks to all the ladies for your generosity in purchasing these raffle tickets as we deposited $177 into the Newcomers’ bank account. Chris Lyman introduced our guest speaker, Nancy Kennedy. Nancy writes humor and senior stories at the Citrus Chronicle. Nancy’s stories of her life were heartwarming and funny. She showed potential from an early age and fulfilled her dream of writing for a newspaper. In addition, Nancy has had several books published. I am hoping that the Citrus Library has her books on their shelves. In November, we celebrate Veterans Day and Thanksgiving. Many of you had and have a loved one serving in the armed forces. I am sure that you agree that standing for our flag at our luncheons is a small price to pay to honor all these brave men and women. As you know, Thanksgiving is a time to be spent with family. Whether you spend it with your personal family or your Florida family, I wish you a safe and happy holiday. Our next Newcomers luncheon is on November 16th at the Stone Creek Country Club. If you have not signed up yet, please contact our Assistant Treasurer, Anne Lundberg to reserve a seat. Mickey Murphy, President [email protected] 1

PROGRAMS FOR 2017 AND 2018

December--Billy Lindsey -- Elvis Tribute

Billy Lindsey got his first guitar in the 4th grade. That's when it all began. Learning to play 10 different instruments throughout his younger years just proved his passion for music. Lead characters in musicals in high school started to form his singing voice. Elvis Presley was Billy's first live concert in 1974. The seed had been planted! Watching all of Elvis' movies was a passion and home work for what was to come. So, if you want music that sounds like your favorite songs you heard on the radio or one of the best Elvis shows around, Billy Lindsey is the entertainer for you. Remember it's not just memories...............It's an experience!

January -- Birthday Celebration and The Seven Old Ladies February -- Terry Grier -- Grumble's House and Garden Shop March -- Nancy Suto, Dep. Sheriff - Crime Prevention April -- Fashion Show -- Chico's Outlet May -- Pete Navarro, PT, SCS, CSST -- Fall Prevention and Balance
