The second annual University Experience Day 2010 at Muak Lek campus

More than eighty students and teachers from six different Thai

high schools attended the second annual University Experience Day (UED). Organized by the Marketing & Advancement office, this event was held at Muak Lek campus on Sunday, August 22, 2010.

Keeping true to the event title, a variety of activities took place for the visitors to get acquainted with the University. One of the activities was the Visit Fac-ulty Stations, where students in groups of 13 visited each Faculty to know more information about the courses offered.

At the same time, the English-subject high school teachers also attended a seminar entitled “Various Aspects of Teaching English Efficiently to Thai Students” by Mrs Bienvisa Nebres, a senior lecturer at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Acharn Bubpa Chunchua from Kaengkhoi High School com-mented, “The seminar was very good.

It met my needs.” This is Kaengkhoi High School’s second time to attend the UED event.

The visitors as well as UED par-ticipants had lunch together in the afternoon and were treated to the first-ever Afternoon Concert at the Kiti-Tasanee Auditorium. As the open-ing act of the concert, the University Indonesian Club performed a fascinat-ing and entertaining traditional Papua dance called Yospan. This performance was then followed by music and dance performances from 5 participating high schools.

To close the program, plaques were presented to each school representa-tives for their participation.

The Marketing & Advancement is currently working on getting the survey results from the event.

The event would not have been possible without the help, support and coopera-

tion from the various departments and individuals on campus:

· Marketing & Advancement· Teachers, staff and student assistants Mission Faculty of Nursing· Teachers, staff and student assistants of Faculty of Science· Teachers, staff and student assistants of Faculty of Arts & Humanities· Teachers, staff and student assistants of Faculty of Education & Psychology· Teachers, staff and student assistants of Faculty of Business Administration· Administrators and Faculty Deans· Student Council· Student promoters from the Introduction to Marketing class· Plant Services· Audio Visual Services· Forever Praise Indonesian Club· IMGout Photography Club

We hope that this event will be a con-tinuing effort to promote the Univer-sity among Thai high schools.

Mission Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Christian Studies worships in Bangkok

While most of the students and faculty were getting out of bed

or still sleeping; at 6:30 am on August 22, 2010, three vehicles left the Uni-versity Muak Lek campus loaded with some students and teachers from the Faculty of Christian Studies headed for Mission Faculty of Nursing of Bang-kok Campus.

The students had been preparing and rehearsing over two weeks for the Sab-bath program that they were to present at Bangkok. Mrs Rajdeep Takeuchi, Associate Vice President of Student Administration of Bangkok Campus had invited the Faculty of Christian Studies to come and worship with the

nursing students; to motivate them spiritually since life at the Bangkok campus is very different from Muak Lek campus. She pointed out that every Sabbath there is an average of 10 nursing students who attend church on a regular basis. However, she was very happy that on this particular Sabbath, there was 80% attendance from the nursing students.

The worship program lasted for one and a half hours and had the theme “My Chains are Gone.” Five of the gentlemen performed a skit in Thai; it was very interesting to hear them speaking Thai for not all of these gentlemen are of Thai origins. After

the skit, Dr Wann Fanwar gave a short sermon about the different kinds of chains that exists in our everyday lives and of how we should give these chains to God so that He can help us to deal with them. We then enjoyed a fellow-ship lunch with the nursing students, their lecturers and sponsors, prepared by the nursing student themselves.

The lecturers and students of the Fac-ulty of Nursing of the Bangkok campus as well as the Faculty of Religious stud-ies enjoyed the worship program and are looking forward to the next wor-ship program in the coming month.
