NATIONAL REPUBLICAN CHAIRMAN MICHAEL STEELE TO SPEAK AT COUNTY GOP
FUNDRAISING EVENT
Lancaster, PARepublican National Committee Chairman Michael S. Steele will headline the
Republican Committee of Lancaster County Fall Fundraising Dinner, set for Wednesday, October 27th at
the Lancaster Marriott Hotel & Convention Center, 25 South Queen Street. The announcement was made
today by Greg Sahd, Chairman of the Republican Committee of Lancaster County.
Steele was elected Chairman of the Republican National Committee on January 30, 2009 and is
widely known for focusing his efforts on actively engaging Americans in their local communities and for
supporting state and local Republican organizations to do the same.
It is important for Pennsylvania and our country for there to be a huge voter turnout on
November 2nd, Steele said. And Lancaster County is at the forefront of our efforts to get out the vote.
Simply stated, we need every Republican, Independent and like-minded Democratic vote in Lancaster
County to push our candidates across the finish line in November. If we win big here for Tom Corbett for
Governor, Jim Cawley for Lt. Governor and Pat Toomey for U.S. Senate, we take back Harrisburg and
Washington, D.C., he said.
It does help prove that Lancaster County plays a big-time role in Pennsylvania elections,
County GOP Chairman Greg Sahd said of Steeles pending visit to Lancaster County. I am thrilled that
Chairman Steele will be our Keynote Speaker for our main fundraising dinner he said. The November
2nd election will determine, in large measure, if we return government to the people or if big government
grows bigger. Mr. Steeles presence here will help drive the kind of attendance we need to raise funds forour Republican candidates and win in November, Sahd said.
A self-described Lincoln Republican, Mr. Steele is a Republican activist at his core having
served as Republican chairman at the county and state level in Maryland. He earned a place in history in
2003 when he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Maryland, becoming the first African-American
elected to statewide office in the state. An expert on political strategy and election reform, he most
recently served as Chairman of GOPAC, and also held posts on the National Federal Election Reform
Commission and the NAACP Blue Ribbon Commission on Election Reform.
Reservations for tickets to the event can be made by calling RCLC Headquarters, 717-392-4165
or by stopping by the office located at 902 Columbia Avenue, Lancaster between the hours of 9:00 to5:00 daily.
