In 2015 a 7.3-magnitude earthquake struck the
Dolakha district in northeastern Nepal. It completely
decimated the isolated mountain village of Yarsa. When
Young Living Founder D. Gary Young visited Nepal in
2016—long after the news headlines had moved on—he
saw the destruction firsthand, and he knew Young Living
could help.
This tiny, resilient village is still undergoing
reconstruction. In October and December of 2017, the
Young Living Foundation held two service trips to Nepal,
and members helped rebuild the homes of 11 families
in Yarsa. In total, there are now 50 completed homes in
the village, along with a new primary school! The Young
Living Academy, Yarsa Primary School is the second
Young Living Academy in the world. The Foundation’s
plan is to continue construction until every one of the
112 homes in the village is completely rebuilt.
Members came from all over the world—the United
States, Canada, Australia, and Japan—to help with the
rebuilding efforts. They were touched as villagers met
them with flower leis, handmade from marigold flowers,
to express their gratitude for all the hard work that has
been put into their village. While they didn’t exchange
many words, it was a moment that those members will
always remember.
Aleena Stephens, a Diamond leader from Australia,
said, “Seeing these people, who basically have nothing,
smiling and giving us these beautiful flower necklaces to
wear was a really overwhelming experience.”
Rebuilding the homes is no easy task. Members cut,
cleaned, hauled, and laid the bricks, scaling up and
down hills.
JANUARY 2018
NEWS OF THE WORLD LEADER IN ESSENTIAL OILS
Hello, my friends. This is a special time, as we
anticipate the excitement of what is to come in
the new year.
Young Living is growing so fast that I find
myself engulfed in thoughts of the need for
more farms to grow the plants to produce the
oils that you are needing.
It is rewarding to know that so many people
are catching the vision, not only in the discovery
of their own wellness and success but also in
bringing our message to so many people who
are looking for answers and waiting to cross
the path of someone who can enlighten them
with something new that will help them with
their needs.
The technical world has become very
sophisticated in the enhancement of oils with
synthetic compounds that increase the volume
and sweeten the natural aroma, enabling them
to be sold for a much lower price. For those
of us who understand this, we must educate
others about the purity of oils and why that is
so important.
We are in the process of closing on several
thousand acres of land, where we will grow
crops to produce oils that are in higher
demand and increase our einkorn acreage.
We have already moved onto the land and
are preparing it for seeding and are going to
build our own flour mill, where only einkorn will
be de-husked and milled. We will not import
einkorn from France anymore, enabling us to
lower the price.
So many new things are coming to Young
Living—increased farming, new products, and
member activities. We look forward to seeing
you at a farm, convention, or wherever your
Young Living business takes you.
I thank you for your prayers and support and
look forward to a healthy and productive new
year. May you all be blessed as you grow your
business, support your family, and help those
in need.
Mary and I send our love with gratefulness
in our hearts for the blessings we have and for
the joy of so many friends we have because of
Young Living.
May you have a wonderful new year!

The new year is officially here, and we want to help
you accomplish your New Year’s resolutions. While
many New Year’s resolutions are often forgotten by
February, the Slique in 60 Challenge is designed to
help you make achievable and trackable goals. Plus,
with added team support and awesome prizes, you’ll
be able to find the motivation to keep going. Last year,
we had over 6,000 participants in the 2017 Slique in 60
Challenge, and we want to make 2018 the best year
yet! Do you want to learn how to make the most of the
Slique in 60 Challenge? We have a few suggestions to
help get you started.
What is the Slique in 60 Challenge? Before we get into more details, here’s some helpful
information about the Slique in 60 Challenge, which is
a competition for members who want to add healthier
habits to their life with help from our Slique products.
Contestants use Slique products to supplement their
healthy diets, incorporate exercise into their routines,
and track their progress to earn some great prizes.
The competition consists of two 60-day phases. Phase
1 registration ended on January 1. If you registered,
congrats; but if it slipped your mind, don’t fret. You can
still follow along and register for phase 2 in February.
How do I start the Slique in 60 Challenge?First things first, you’ll need a benchmark of your
weight and body measurements, so you can track your
progress. Make sure to wear the same tight-fitting
clothing each time you weigh yourself and take your
measurements. We have created a helpful tool to help
you document your transformation, which is available
on the Slique in 60 Contest web page.
It’s also important to start off with a clean slate.
We suggest eliminating junk food from your pantry
and replacing that junk food with Slique products.
Also, schedule a non-negotiable time to get in your
workouts—just remember to consult your health care
provider before beginning a new fitness routine.
Once you register for the contest, make sure to join
the “Slique in 60 Contest 2018” Facebook group for
added support.
What are the prizes for the Slique in 60 Challenge? All participants who register, submit their results at
the end of the phase, and purchase a Slique kit each
month of the challenge will receive a Slique in 60 shirt,
as well as a limited-edition Slique in 60 pin.

Last October we had our first-ever global
Live Your Passion Rally (LYPR). We had
especially strong showings from the United
States, Canada, and Europe. Around the
world, we had more than 2,000 rallies and
more than 100,000 attendees in homes, hotels,
and online meetings. It was a huge success,
and we’re excited to start 2018 with an even
bigger event.
The LYPR on January 13 will be an
international celebration! You can feel the
excitement building throughout the globe
as members are realizing the impact of these
rallies in business growth and community
focus. If you haven’t registered to host or
attend an event, visit YoungLiving.com. If you
want to host an event, be sure to register
before January 8 at 5 p.m., MT.
Once you’re set up and ready to go, we’d
like to share three helpful tips for hosting a
successful LYPR:
1. Be creative to increase attendance
Plan a giveaway, DIY project, or additional
trainings for your event to increase attendance.
If you need some ideas to spark your creativity,
check out YoungLiving.com/blog!
2. Check out the location ahead of timeIf you plan on renting space for your event,
ask if you can access the location a day or
two ahead of time. That way you can test the
equipment and plan your setup. It never hurts
to get a head start to help take some of the
stress off the actual day of the event.
3. Get social!Encourage your attendees to take pictures
or videos of your event and use the global
hashtag #YLUnites. Your attendees will be
thrilled to be a part of the bigger international
community. You can also use the pictures and
videos to encourage others to participate in
future events.
We’re so excited for you to join us on January
13. Make sure to register to either attend or
host soon at YoungLiving.com!

Although the days were long, they knew it was for a greater
purpose and found joy with every brick placed.
“The people have had an impact on me, and I hope we have
had a similar impact on them as we helped rebuild their village,”
said David Hawley, a member from Texas. “Seeing people who
live in rather unimaginable circumstances, yet continue to thrive
and be happy, warm, and welcoming, is an amazing experience
that anyone would benefit from.”
The Young Living Foundation would like to express its
gratitude to those who served in Nepal. The Foundation would
also like to thank its donors for their generous and timely
contributions to the Rebuild Nepal project.

While January can seem bleak after the
holidays and before the month of love, we
have something that will brighten even
the darkest winter day: The Desert Mist™

About a year ago, we asked members
what they really wanted in a diffuser. The
Desert Mist Diffuser is custom-made based
on the results of that survey. It offers longer
run times; a stylish, home décor-friendly
design; and functionality at a great price.
Our favorite winter blends for the Desert Mist:• January blues got you feeling down?

drops of Citrus Fresh™ for a special
brightening aroma.
• Are you ready for a winter's nap?
Create a relaxing atmosphere by
diffusing 5 drops of Lavender, 4 drops

• There’s something magical about
a winter romance! If you and your

YO U N G L I V I N G A U S T R A L I ARegion Update
After hosting the Australian Symposium this past May—and interacting
with so many Diamonds who attended the Diamond Retreat at that time—
Young Living Australia saw steady month-to-month growth the rest of the
year. The dynamic symposium energized local members and the Australia
corporate team with presentations from Diamonds, the U.S. executive team,
and professional speakers; 19 new product launches; and two product expo
days. With this renewed spirit, the market ended the year with a 32 percent
growth rate—an amazing accomplishment in the market’s 18th year!
Another factor in the region’s exciting growth was the launch of 30 new
products this year, including nine new Essential Rewards kits and three
new starter kits. In addition to these new products, Young Living Australia
launched Savvy Minerals by Young Living™ with a whirlwind tour to five cities
in the region. The tour—which reached over 2,000 people and featured
U.S. Diamond leader Melissa Poepping as keynote speaker—exemplified
the market’s excitement for the new line, and a staggering 49 percent of
attendees made Savvy Minerals purchases averaging $350 AUD per person.
This exciting success comes thanks to the hard work of so many people,
including the region’s amazing leaders. To celebrate and encourage
members in the area, the market hosted a business-building promotion with
an incentive trip to Hawaii. In September, 44 qualifying members visited
Kona Sandalwood Reforestation Project in Big Island, Hawaii, where they
relaxed and learned about the farm’s dedication to reforestation initiatives
and its passion for Young Living.
With so many developments for the market, including the region’s third
Diamond qualifying in September and the second Crown Diamond in
November, this region continues to help Young Living in its efforts to take
essential oils to every home in the world. We can’t wait to see where the new
year takes Young Living Australia!

WOLFBERRY TRAIL MIX BARS
When Young Living updated the Seed to Seal program to highlight the three pillars of Sourcing, Science, and Standards, we did so to share the demanding standards that go into providing you every pristine drop of essential oil you enjoy. On our recent episode of the Drop of Inspiration podcast, we spoke with General Counsel and Chief Legal and Compliance Officer Matt French about Young Living’s standards that go far beyond the standard.
Under the Standards pillar, you’ll find an exhaustive compliance program. Matt explains more on the podcast, “The Standards pillar encapsulates the desire to and commitment to follow through on legal sourcing and compliant sourcing all throughout the world in everything we do.”
The standards that guide our Seed to Seal program lead the industry, and we intend to keep it that way. Setting the pace for ethical and green practices has an impact that extends far beyond bringing your family the highest quality essential oils. As Matt offered, “We want to do it right because we abide by the laws and we care about what governments think. I think being that first company out there that’s doing it the right way, we set the trend. And that means in the future, the whole world will be better for it.”
Our Standards pillar, like the Sourcing and Science pillars that bolster our Seed to Seal program, is a commitment to anyone who encounters our products that we’ve gone above and beyond. “Our real heartbeat is to protect the earth and to protect products that we want to get into people’s homes,” said Matt. “We know that by sourcing compliantly, a lot of the laws are set up to make sure the plants are still there in the future and that it’s done right.”
