From the Desk of the Vice Chancellor Dear Friends, Perseverance is the virtue of the strong. It is through the honest and dedicated efforts that

leaders have brought the world to a clearing, away from the dense woods of economic gloom. We acknowledge the programming skills and inventive leadership that have come to the fore front in bring-ing about this transformation to open fresh new avenues for success. Such world leading skills have been the hallmark of students passing out of Ma-durai Kamaraj University. Over these periods, thou-sands of bright young minds have stepped out of the campus to leave their indelible foot prints in the history of mankind.

Organizations which have embraced our students stand testimony to their enthusiasm, commitment and ethos. Across time and space, our students have stood by their values, adapting to changing environments and retaining their passion for merit. It gives me immense pleasure to be the First Lady Vice-Chancellor of this temple of learning.

I look forward to building this University with mutual trust & commitment from all teachers, students and staff to help me place this Universi-ty on the academic map desired by our esteemed Madam Honble Chief Minister Dr.J.Jayalalithaa Avl.

    Green Campus Initiative

The proposed Green Campus, the brain child of Dr. Kalyani Mathivanan, aims to regenerate the residential campus of MKU ecologically. In order to facilitate aware-ness among students and staff and make them commit to the cause of Green Cam-pus, significant measures are taken. The road map to implementation involves main-tenance of manuals for each building about energy saving mechanism, waste water manage-ment, solid waste management and landscaping.

In this context, MKU has signed an MoU with Auroville Foundation, which is assisting MKU in introducing sustainably sound practices such as waste water treatment, rain water harvest-ing, ecological landscaping and green build-ing guidelines to enhance energy and water efficiency. As a part of this initiative, 100kW roof top on-grid solar photovoltaic power plant has been installed. Solar powered street lights have also been put to use. DEWATS waste water management system project is under progress and efforts are taken to construct three plants for this purpose.
