Apang Manav Mandal is a N.G.O founded in the year 1958. It is registered under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950 and the Societies Registration Act, 1960. A.M.M. is one such organisation that is devoted to the cause of handicapped, looks after all their needs and requirements, tries to make their life purposeful and gradually makes them self sufficient so they live in the society with respect and pride. It is working since last 52 years for the physically challenged people particularly the students, poor and down trodden and service to the society at large.

The Board of Trustees of the Mandal is headed by Justice B. J. Diwan former Chief Justice, Gujarat High Court. Mandal is the premier the biggest and most active N.G.O. for physically challenged children in the State of Gujarat. Mandal has two complexes one at vastrapur opp. Ahmedabad Management Association which has office complex and Boys Hostel, the School and Physiotherapy Centre & the other at Drive-in-Road next to Gandhi Labour Institute, which has Girls Hostel, Fashion Design Centre, Day care Centre, Speech Therapy Centre, Physiotherapy Centre and Paediatric Physiotherapy Centre.

Mandal carries on the following activities.

[1] It houses physically challenged 400 girls and boys in the hostel and runs Primary & Secondary School from Std. I to X.

[2] Two vibrant Physiotherapy Centres at both the places.[3] Apparel & Fashion Design Centre at both the places for

boys and girls.[4] Day-Care Centre for Mentally Challenged children.[5] Speech Therapy Centre for children having speech

problems.[6] A modern up-date Printing Section.[7] Two Computer Sections.[8] Several physiotherapy camps throughout the State year

after year and runs 6 physiotherapy centres at quake affected areas in Gujarat in collaboration with local N.G. O's.

EDUCATION :

1.1 Shri K. K. Shah Jarodwala Primary School

(Std. I to IV)

1.2 Shri Sunandaben Vohora Secondary School :

Prof. Hiralal Kaji Primary School (Std. V to VII) : Primary

School consists of std. I to VII. 124 students were admitted.

Most of the children belong to rural areas and coming from

various districts. Model room for std. I to IV was specially

designed. Megha Bodana a girl without both the hands was

admitted in Std. I. Special efforts were made by the teachers

and she was taught to write with her leg fingers. It is

noteworthy that Shri Manji Ramani and Shri Manoj Bhingare

without both the hands were students of A.M.M. have got a

degree in Fine Arts and made their carrier bright. They still are

associated with the mandal and continue to benefit from it.

Secondary School consists of Std. VIII to X. Std. VIII have two

classes. 141 students were admitted in the School. Special

coaching was provided in Maths, Science and English

subject. Result of S.S.C. Board's examination was 60%

Physiotherapy Center

Shri Manilal Jethalal Shah Indoor Physiotherapy Centre:Girls staying in the hostel were given physiotherapy treatment by qualified physiotherapist as directed by orthopedic doctor on regular basis.

Shri Nutan Nagrik Sahakari Bank Physiotherapy Centre & Shri Daulatbhai Natubhai Trivedi Health Centre:This centre is run since 1987; it is well equipped with laser therapy and combo therapy Unit. 30975 patients were given physiotherapy treatment during the year

Shri Chimanbhai Patel (Sandesh) Padeatric Physiotherapy Centre:Children upto twelve years age were given treatment in the centre. They were benefited in reducing their handicap and parents felt happy by the services of the Mandal.

Smt. Shantaben Motilal Parikh Physiotherapy Centre (Vastrapur) Centre was started in the year 2005 at Boy’s Hostel Campus. Latest Equipments were provided. Combo therapy unit was added patients were treated by qualified physiotherapist. Out-door patients were given treatment on concessional rates. 19643 patients took benefit of the centre during the year. The centre is air-conditioned.

Hi-Tech India Ltd. Donated Hydraulic Lift for Boy’s Hostel.

Boy’s HostelSeparate hostel for boys are run with all the facilities. Disabled boys studying in std. I to X, XI, XII as well as those doing higher studies, college, technical courses and Vocational training were admitted in the respective hostel. Nourishing foods and other facilities were provided in the hostels. Students are educated far good manners, moral and cultural values. Apang Manav Mandal (AMM) is an NGO founded in the year 1959. AMM is one such organisation that is devoted to the cause of handicapped, looks after all their needs and requirements, tries to give their life purposeful and gradually makes them self- sufficient and live in the society with respect and pride. The aims are overall development of the child by imparting good values and to attention on education, health care and rehabilitation. For the same, we run several initiatives like Boy’s Hostel, Girl’s Hostel, Printing Press, Computer Education, Fashion Designing, Day Care Center, Physiotherapy Center, Camps and School Education. Students normally face physical problems while transporting from one place to another place especially for going to school. So, in the noble cause of helping physical challenged students to transport, we received a helping hand from Gas Authority India Ltd. (GAIL), which donated a school van for the use of Mandal. The company is India’s flagship Natural Gas company, integrating all aspects of the Natural Gas value chain (including Exploration & Production, Processing, Transmission, Distribution and Marketing) and its related services. In a rapidly changing scenario, company is spearheading the move to a new era of clean fuel industrialisation, creating a quadrilateral of green energy corridors that connect major consumption centers in India with major gas fields, LNG terminals and other cross border gas sourcing points.
