NILO AG in Wettingen has a long history. Founded in 1906 by Josef Berz, the company was acquired by Nik Meier in 1982. Currently the company has a workforce of 23, and specialises in interior fitting, fitted kitchens and door production. NILO AG is known for its passion for passion for cabinet making, combined with the latest technology. The firm has been working with the new Cabineo cabinet connector since 2017, after bench cabinet maker Roger Jakob came across the innovation in an industry magazine and went on to request a free information pack at www.cabineo.ch.

A quick decision

The product sample and flyer that he received convinced both him and pro-duction manager Matthias Munk. Munk, who served his apprenticeship with the company, explains that, “the decision to comprehensively test the new product was a very quick one.” The results convinced everyone involved in the production process, and since then they have used Cabineo for con-necting all the cabinets they produce. In addressing why they decided to change over to Cabineo, Munk smiles and says: “There are several reasons: the stackability – i.e. flat-pack delivery with preassembled connectors – the ease of assembly and time savings, getting rid of the need to open bags of hardware, and the high clamping force.”

Quick and easy assemblyOne current order in Wettingen involves the production of more than 160 cupboards. The first step is to cut

panels to size on the horizontal panel saw. The workpieces are then format-ted and machined on one of the CNC machines available in the workshop. This example shows the Homag BMG 511 in use. A 15 mm drill is used to make the three holes for the connec-tor. The series hole drill can also make the 5mm hole for the Cabineo – no change of tool is required. The Cabineo can then be very quickly inserted, by

that before they changed over, cabinets were delivered fully assembled. “Since the changeover to Cabineo, we have benefited by being able to assemble on-site and we are really happy with the time we save.” Fitter Walter Rudolf con-firmed that assembling the cupboard with Cabineo is much quicker and easier than with the cam. He goes on to say: “The protruding screw means we can precisely align the machined furniture parts, and connecting them just needs a cordless drill.” If the connector needs to be invisible – which is standard at NILO AG – cover caps are used. These can be fitted onto Cabineo in seconds, and Lamello AG offers them in various colours. Since introducing Cabineo, NILO AG has already used 2,500 connectors and is absolutely won over by the product. “We have been using Lamello system solu-tions for some years, and are pleased to have such an innovative partner at our side,” Munk tells us at the end of the tour.

Quick and stable connectionsIn the new Lamello AG training centre, a bar was created from maple and oiled, with natural raw edges and a longitudinal steel profile between the left and right side. Inspired by the many P-System customers who use the Clamex P-14 for their bar or kitchen worktops, the Clamex P-14 was used as a connection solution. The worktop, which goes all the way to the floor, is connected to the horizontal panels using a mitre. The workpieces are easily fitted together and powerfully fastened with or without glue – all without the use of complicated clamping aids. The two offset grooves make the rows bar extraordinarily strong.

connectorsBeck konzept AG has been using the Lamello Clamex P Medius 14/10 and Tenso P-14 connectors for some years. The precise groove depth, on the Tenso P-14 in particular, has the benefit of ensuring that the connectors’ maximum clamping force is achieved.

“This is why we use a Benz floating trimming unit with a special base on

our CNC machine. It allows us to automatically compensate for differences in panel thickness,”

reports production manager Christoph Bucher. Tenso P-14 con-nectors are inserted straight after cutting and act as a gluing aid.

Cutting P-System grooves on

the Holzher NextecIt goes without saying that the software supports the cutting of all standard nesting connectors which only require vertical machi-ning. This solution for the Lamello P-System connector solution is unique, reliable and unmatched when it comes to speed. Connector pockets can be milled into the panel surface along the X and Y axis with the optional NEXTEC Clamex package. The intelligent BetterNest software and a specially developed tool also allow perfectly positioned Clamex pockets to be cut into the edges of furniture parts, before formatting them to size within a single clamping operation.

Masterwood Project TF 100 The Masterwood Project TF 100 is a highly compact CNC machine equipped for drilling, milling and cutting grooves, and only requires a production area of approx. 5m2. The TF 100 project enables the easy implementation of different types of connections from Lamello, such as the Clamex-P and Cabineo. A large tool magazine with 6 positions enables a P-System groove cutter to be fitted onto a vertical tool holder and also onto an angle aggre-gate. The “Masterwork” software enables easy and intuitive processing for the Clamex P connection system from Lamello.
