Mike Claiborne USPTA Tennis Professional NEW COURTS Courts 5 and 6 have recently been resurfaced and look great. Additionally, pickleball lines have been added to court 5. Pickleball nets will stay out at your convenience and you simply pull out the net and play. Pickleball paddles and balls are in the tennis house on the right side of cabinets under the large bulletin board.

2020 FALL JUNIOR PROGRAM We have many club members children involved in our 6 week program. Numerous classes are being offered and we start them as young as 4 years old. TRIPLE PLAY ADULT MIXERS We will be hosting these Friday evening mixers every 3-4 weeks going forward. Come out and play tennis, pickleball and cornhole. A full bar will be set up as well as a taco bar. Get out of the house and enjoy a fun night at the club. Be looking for an early October date for this event. MEN’S MANIC MONDAYS & WILD WOMEN’S WEDNESDAYS These great new programs can get anyone immediately involved in tennis at the club. Many of our new members are active and attending. We are always looking for some new faces. Give us a call so we can add you to our texting group.

CHRISTMAS ALTERNATE SHOT Saturday, December 6

Two – Person Alternate Shot Event. Pick your own partner and play in this fun event. You will play alternate shot into the hole. Play should move quickly. Entry fee is $25. Cart fee extra. Tentatively tee times. Sign up board posted in the hallway or call the Golf Shop.

Eli will play one day and Les the other. If “The Pro” beats you—you get your wager in Golf Shop credit! If you beat “The Pro” you get double your wager in Golf Shop credit. You cannot lose!! Tanya Hellums Accounts Payable / Human Resources Tanya Hellums joined our accounting department in September. She will be taking on the roles of Accounts Payable and Human Resources and has over 20 years of experience in her field. Tanya is a native of Cherokee, Alabama and enjoys spending her spare time with her two children, Turner and Jordan, as well as running and doing CrossFit. If passing by the office, please stop by and introduce yourself and help welcome her to Turtle Point.

I think I can echo the sentiments of almost everyone when I say I couldn’t be happier to see the close of 2020 right around the corner. To say this year has been a challenge would be an understatement but at the same time if we look closely we can all see a few positives that have come about: More family time, more golf time, more cooking at home, and thank goodness for Netflix. As I am writing this I am thinking about the New Year’s party I want to throw this year. If there has ever been a time to celebrate the upcoming New Year this is it! Live dance music and champagne flowing – and kicking 2020 to the curb – will be our theme this year. By the time you will read this we will have completed our first ever electronic vote for our Board of Directors. I was very pleased to hear all the positive feedback from this procedure and how members of all ages found it very easy to use. This year has also seen the commission of Turtle Point’s Long Range Planning Committee which is the tool of the Board to help steer us in the right direction for years to come. We were blessed by being given a wonderful Club by our founders and with the help of the L.R.P.C. we will continue the course they envisioned from the beginning. As we step gingerly back into the “normal” of last year we will continue to do everything possible to keep you and our employees safe. We will continue monitoring temperatures of all employees - and for large events we will check our members and guests to ensure everyone’s safety. We will continue wearing masks in the Clubhouse and have hand sanitizing stations set up throughout the Clubhouse for everyone’s use. Buffets are now back with a few safeguards in place and hopefully we will be able to continue this process though the Christmas season, which if you haven’t thought about your work Christmas party you should call Althea quickly as she is filling up fast. As always if there is anything I can do for you don’t hesitate to call.
