JSC News

The Junior School Council would like to extend a big thank you to all students and staff at Kalinda, for their participation and fund raising efforts in last Friday’s Pyjama Dress Up Day. We managed to raise $576 in total and so we will be donating $288 to our own Kalinda Breakfast Club and $288 to the State School Relief Fund. Thank you for all the support you give to our Junior School Council initiatives. Thank you to all the families who visited the Kalinda Scholastic Book Fair last Friday, the day was a huge success and it has been wonderful walking through the school seeing children reading all their new books. A very big thank you needs to go to our wonderful librarian Wendy, without Wendy’s hard work organising, setting up and staffing the Book Fair it would not have been a possibility. We are very lucky to receive back 25% from all sales made, to spend on Scholastic books, so expect to see some new titles in the library soon!

CBL News

For our Challenged Based Learning project this term, we have been collecting egg cartons to donate to local farmers and fresh produce shops. One of the shops we are donating to is Upper Gully Organics. They sell organic produce and their gluten-free vegetables pies are a crowd favourite. We are also donating to Biodynamic Market, in Kallista. They sell fresh and organic groceries and skincare products. If you happen to have any egg cartons and you're in that area, they would be absolutely ecstatic if you could drop them to the office. Please do not send them to the class rooms.. This would be helping them, and helping our environment and world by recycling. Thank you, Brylie and Charlotte.

Parents & Friends Update Kalindalicious Cookbook FAQ

Q. When will Kalindalicious be available?

A. The book is currently with the publisher at the final layout stage and we anticipate the book being available in November.

Q. Why is it taking so long?

A. It does seem like it is taking a long time but there have been months of collating and editing recipes, taking photographs of the school and students, and selecting food imagery to feature within the book. The book is being professionally printed and bound, all of which

takes time.

Q. Will all the recipes I submitted appear in the book? A. We have tried to include all recipes that were submitted, except in the case where there

has been a double up of recipes.

Q. Will my child’s photo be in the book? A. Not necessarily – this will depend on whether or not we received express written

permission to include a photograph of your child (this was a form sent home earlier in the year), their availability on the days photographs were taken and their willingness to have

their photo taken.

Q. I ordered a book, what happens next? A. Nothing! When the books are received from the printers we will have your book/s ready

for you. More instructions will follow at that time.

Q. Can I still pre-order the book? A. Unfortunately the pre-orders have closed but we have ordered extra books, which will be

available for purchase when they are received from the printers. We will advise how you can do this at that time.

Happy Holidays! The P&F wish all families a safe and happy holiday – see you in Term 4!
