JANUARY - 2017 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!! – The
Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; be-
cause the Lord hath anointed me to
preach good tidings unto the meek; he
hath sent me to bind up the
brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the
captives, and the opening of the prison to
them that are bound;2 To proclaim the
acceptable year of the Lord, and the day
of vengeance of our God; to comfort all
that mourn;3 To appoint unto them that
mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty
for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the
garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they might be called trees
of righteousness, the planting of the
Lord, that he might be glorified.
Isaiah 61:1-3
What great verses on which to reflect as we
enter the month of JANUARY 2017 – the
beginning of a NEW Calendar Year with our
NEW Senior Pastor. Let us reflect on what is
said here in Isaiah as well as what the Lord
Jesus repeated in Luke 4. The above is what
WE, BELIEVERS in CHRIST are called to do –
Romans 12 says this is our “...reasonable
service...” As this New Calendar year begins,
commit as an Ambassador for Christ (and
Pinecrest) to seek God daily for His will in our
lives – as individuals and as a corporate body,
Pinecrest Baptist Church!!!
U. S. TRIVIA - A Portion of LEVITICUS 25:10 is
inscribed inside our Nation’s LIBERTY BELL –
referring to the Year of Jubilee, “...proclaim
liberty throughout all the land unto all the
inhabitants thereof...”
The Below listed Items continue to be on the
Board’s agenda:
Upgrading our information technology as
it pertains to Sunday School ministry
and administration;
Upgrading the appearance and
functionality of our office
entrance – We continue to work out
details with local contractors to
install double-paned glass doors to
replace the current wooden doors;
Pursuing a reasonable and
comprehensive AC & Heating
Maintenance Contract;
Researching the improvement of our
Facilities to better equip our
Children, Youth and Adult Ministries.
We covet your prayers in the carrying out of
this agenda and more as the LORD leads.
Be safe as The LORD launches us into a New
Calendar Year and Journey...Take care and
God bless.

News from The Board
of Directors
When I was in the business
world prior to going in the
ministry, I worked for a
company that sold
building materials. Each
year before we started a
new year we took inventory.
The point was to make sure
that your records actually
matched your reality. Often
we would find that the in-
ventory numbers in the
computer did not match
what we actually had in
stock in the warehouse.
When that was discovered,
adjustments were made so
that the computer numbers
matched the actual
numbers.
The beginning of a new
year is a good time to take
inventory spiritually. How
did things go for you
spiritually in 2016? Was
there spiritual growth in
your life? If so, then what
were the things that you did
that contributed to the
spiritual growth you
experienced? You may look
at your spiritual life as you
take inventory and discover
that there has been no
spiritual growth in the last
year. If that is the case, then
what kinds of things do you
think you need to do in
order to grow spiritually in
2017? Perhaps you need to
spend more time reading
the bible. Maybe you need
to spend more regular time
in prayer. Some may need to
become a little more
regular in personal
devotions.
My encouragement to you is
to take inventory of your
spiritual life and make a
fresh commitment to do the
things that will cause you to
grow in the Lord in 2017.
Blessings!
Pastor Reggie
God has some
amazing things
planned for 2017! How
many times have we said, or
heard others say, “Manana.
I’ll do it tomorrow.” Some-
times people put off doing today what they
want to do because they don’t think they
know enough or can perform well enough.
The fact is, there is no magic age at which
excellence emerges or quality surfaces.
Thomas Jefferson was 33 when he drafted the
Declaration of Independence. Benjamin
Franklin was 26 when he wrote Poor
Richard’s Almanac. Charles Dickens was 24
when he began his Pickwick Papers, and 25
when he wrote Oliver Twist. Isaac Newton
was 24 when he formulated the law of
gravitation. A second danger is to think that
creativity and invention belong to the young.
This is equally true. Emmanuel Kant wrote his
finest philosophical works at age 74. Verdi, at
age 80, produced Falstaff, and at 85, Ave
Maria. Goethe was 80 when he completed
Faust. Tennyson was 80 when he wrote
Crossing the Bar. Michelangelo completed his
greatest work at 87. At 90, Justice Holmes
still was writing brilliant Supreme Court
opinions.
Seize the day and redeem the “now”
moments of your life. The moment you wait
for may never arrive. The moment once past
will never return. Time is more valuable than
money because time is irreplaceable.
Ephesians 5:16 gives us a challenge for the
New Year: “Make the most of every
opportunity in these evil days” (New Living
Translation). Make the most of your days by
allowing God to do some amazing things in
and through you in 2017!

Hey everyone!
Excited to
share with you
about what
God has been
doing and will
do here at
Realife
Student
Ministries.
In December,
the students celebrated Christmas by having a
party in pinecrest hall. We ate food, played crazy
games, won gift cards, and heard the gospel and
real meaning for Christmas. Students brought
their friends who would not normally come to
church to the Christmas party, for the purpose of
them hearing the gospel! We should be SO proud
of are students wanting their friends to hear and
learn about Christ. In just a few short weeks, the
students will be attending YEC
(Youth Evangelism Conference) at London Bridge
Baptist Church. At YEC our students will worship
and learn about what it means to be a follower of
Christ with hundreds of students from our area.
Pray that our students would grow in their
relationship with Jesus! I (Stephen) am SO proud
of our students, and how far they have come this
past year. Seeing them grow spiritually, and be
the amazing students that they are despite the
negative circumstances that they face every day.
2016 was an amazing and fun year, but I believe
that 2017 will be even better! Finally, always be in
prayer for our students. As they go into their
schools and live in a world that doesn't know or
care about living for Christ. Pray that they will
always strive to be fully devoted disciples of
Christ. Thanks so much for all of the love and
support!
- Stephen
As we start the new year,
Kids Church will begin a 4
week series: PIZZA PARTY-
The Right Ingredients for
Being a Good Friend.
To build a great pizza, you
need a crispy crust, yummy
sauce, quality cheese, and
delicious toppings. To build
a great friendship, you need
the right elements, too—like
trust, compromise, listening,
and unselfishness.
MEMORY VERSE: “A friend
loves at all times. They are
there to help when trouble
comes” – Proverbs 17:17
THE CRUST: TRUST – If your
crust is bad, the whole pizza
is ruined. In the same way,
trust is the foundation of a
good friendship. Real friend-
ships are built on a solid
foundation of respect and
reliability.
Proverbs 11:13
and 18:24, aspects
of trust in friendship.
THE SAUCE: COMPROMISE–
Some people like their pizza
sauce to be sweet and mild;
some like it with a little
more kick. But if
everybody’s going to enjoy
the same pizza, you have to
agree on one kind of sauce.
In the same way, sometimes
friends have to compromise
to enjoy their time together.
Luke 12:57-59, work out
your conflicts.
THE CHEESE: LISTENING –
Most people won’t complain
if the pizza is extra cheesy.
Similarly, no one complains
of a friend who is quick to
listen. Good listening is vital
to building strong relation-
ships. James 1:19, be quick
to listen and slow to speak.
THE TOPPINGS: UNSELFISH-
NESS – When ordering pizza
it’s not uncommon
to be asked, “What
kind of toppings do
you like?” As
friends, we should
consider others’
needs and wants
ahead of our own.
John 15:12-14,
there’s no greater love than
laying down your life for a
friend.
