Church on the Lake Mark your calendars for our annual church on the lake on Wednesday, June 7 at 6 PM at Last Sunday my father-in-law and I went to eat at Chicken Express after worship. We happened to witness an extraordinary event. Two couples were celebrating 74 years of marriage and they were married in a double wedding ceremony. Now the four of them were celebrating together 74 years later! (I think I might have chosen some place a little more upscale to celebrate but fried chicken does speak loudly). I was utterly amazed. One of the couples was 97 and 93 years old, and he (97) got up that morning and curled her hair with the curling iron because she (93) didn’t like the way the beautician had done it the day before. I think I witnessed true, unselfish love and I was amazed (and eyes filled with tears). God definitely gave me a glimpse into something beautiful and rare. When I told them I’d been married 32 years this year (knowing I had 42 years more to catch up with them), I felt suddenly overwhelmed with a multitude of emotion. We will have a Fifth Wednesday Praise Night on May 31st. This is always a special night of worship where the Praise Team will present some new favorite hymns and praise songs for you to learn. We also dedicate a portion of this service to sing old favorites...so come prepared with your request. Our Intergeneration Mission Trip to Casa de la Esperanza is August 2-9. We will meet after worship on Sunday, June 4 for a Mexican Lunch and a short organizational meeting to start planning for our trip. Show me the money (and the papers) Please make turning in all youth group paperwork and payments for trips your top priority over the next few days if you have not already. Some of it is absolutely due today (mission trip, Arlington Work Camp) but please do get it done and turned in to myself or the church office. Sunday Servants

Serving Park Avenue

Sermon Notes

We are honored to have you with us this morning. A warm welcome to all our members — how good and pleasant it is for us to worship together! And a special welcome to our guests! Please take a few minutes to visit with us

after services. Stop by the welcome centers in the main hallways for more information and a free gift from us. Let us know how we can serve you.

Welcome. So glad you are with us today to worship. PACOC is so blessed to have so many wonderful servants. Almost everyday

there’s someone up here at the church serving. If not up here, I see the fruit of service daily as I make my way around town.

Thanks to those who take such good care of this building and this property. There’s a lot of land and a lot of build-ing to keep up with, and we are so grateful to those who keep this place looking beautiful—inside and out!

Thanks to those who pick up after us in the auditorium and those who prepare the communion. We have volunteers come in and make sure everything is ready for Sunday.

Thanks to those who visit, send cards, and otherwise care for our church fami-ly. Without fail, when I visit someone in the hospital they have a list of names of others who have come by. Not only

Todd’s Take that, but I see the cards, the gifts, the pillows, and other tokens of love.

Thanks to those who feed grieving families before or after funerals. What a great gesture of love and support I get to witness so often.

Thanks to those who feed us at our PAWS meals and set out and take down the tables and chairs we eat at. With grateful hearts those meals are served to us on Wednesday nights.

Thanks to those who teach and watch our children and our adults.

Thanks to those who serve or com-munion and lead us in public worship.

Thanks to those who drive the church bus picking up people who have no transportation.

Thanks to those who distribute food and clothing to those in need.

Thanks to those who are up here weekday nights serving in various capacities.

Thanks to all who use their gifts, talents, and resources to shine the light of God’s love from this place!

We especially welcome our mothers here today and honor them in a special way. Thank you for all you mean to us. Thank you for all you do. Thank you for making this world such a better place. Thank you for reflecting the deep love that God has for us.

Happy Mothers’ Day!
