ARTS AND SCIENCES ANNOUNCES WINNERS
AT THE 34th ANNUAL NEWS & DOCUMENTARY EMMY® AWARDS
David Fanning, Founder and Executive Producer of FRONTLINE
Receives Lifetime Achievement Award
New York, N.Y. – October 1, 2013 – Winners of the 34th Annual News and Documentary Emmy® Awards were announced tonight by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS). The News & Documentary Emmy® Awards were presented at a ceremony at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall in the Time Warner Center in New York City. The event was attended by more than 900 television and news media industry executives, news and documentary producers and journalists. Emmy® Awards were presented in 42 categories, including Breaking News, Investigative Reporting, Outstanding Interview, and Best Documentary, among others. “The journalists, documentarians and organizations we pay tribute to this evening are our direct link to the drama that unfolds before us each day across the globe,” said Malachy Wienges, Chairman, NATAS. “Whether a nightly newscast, an investigative special or breaking news, we can now view the world in the palm of our hands. What an exciting time we live in, and I can’t think of more important work than what tonight’s nominees represent. On behalf of the National Academy, we wish to congratulate all of them for their outstanding contribution to the evolution of television reporting.” In addition to the evening’s nominees and winners, David Fanning, Founder and Executive Producer of the multiple Emmy® Award winning series, FRONTLINE, received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award.
