Project DescriptionThis study evaluates the impact of a home-visitation program on young children’s social-emotional learning and literacy development. The project seeks to examine the efficacy of providing home-based services to hard-to-reach families living in economically isolated communities. No research to date has rigorously tested the effectiveness of a home-based program on measures of school readiness for diverse racial-ethnic groups. This study is under the direction of Drs. LaRue Allen and Jennifer Astuto.

Job DescriptionData Collectors will administer home-based, comprehensive assessments to Black and Latino, immigrant families in Queens and Brooklyn, New York. This training and the experience of conducting assessments of 2-4 year olds and their parents would be particularly valuable for psychology students interested in child development and any students in the social sciences interested in community research and intervention development.

Qualification & Skills Coursework and demonstrated interest in intervention and/or psychology, Must be willing to travel throughout Queens and Brooklyn to complete home-

based data collection (travel expenses will be reimbursed), Must be able to attend a two-day training workshop (Date TBD), Must be able to attend weekly supervision meeting (Tuesdays at 3:45-4:45PM),

and Advanced proficiency in Spanish is a plus

Hours & DurationAll work will occur between 8am-6pm, so applicants must be available a minimum of one day a week for at least 6 months.
