• On the left represent the liberty On the right represents the justice, the scales and the sword.

The motto is Excelsior,  means "always up" or "On top". Refers to the increase and progress of the inhabitants of the state.

New York's nickname is the Big Apple, The Empire State. The official language is English

The  number of inhabitants is 19,378,102.

• In New York the top ten countries of origin of immigrants are the Dominican Republic, China, Jamaica, Guyana, Pakistan, Ecuador, Haiti, Trinidad and Tobago, Colombia and Russia.

•  The University of New York has grown to currently with 14 schools and partner institutions. It has 6 major centers in Manhattan and its own facilities in London, Paris, Tel Aviv, Buenos Aires, Florence, Prague, Madrid, Berlin, Accra, and Shanghai.

• Sex and the City is a really famous serie and film. Set in New York City, is about the lives and loves of four women who are very good friends, three of which are at the end of thirty years.

• Literary works, both modern and classic, dealing with New York are numerous. Indeed, as is the case of visual arts, the city of New York was and is a source of inspiration for many writers, both New Yorkers, and those who took the book at city, or took it as a stage in its history . For example: Breakfast at Tiffany's by Truman Capote.

• In musicThe music industry is closely related to New York, its neighborhoods, its people. The most famous song is probably "New York, New York", composed by John Kander and later sung by Frank Sinatra. This song praises New York, saying it is the city where everything is possible, thus increasing its attractiveness to the world. Rolling Stones to the city mentioned in the song "Shattered" from the album Some Girls, 1978.

• On TVAs for the cartoon, Futurama, located in 3000, and shows the city of New New York. It stands on the ruins of Old New York, which is accessed through the sewers, despite being a city other than the New York contemporary, has versions of the most iconic buildings and sites like the Statue Freedom, Other cartoons have translated their characters to the city as in The Simpsons.

•   The city of New York has trained several Nobel Prize winners in physics, notably thanks to the Bronx High School of Sciences, as well as the prestigious Columbia University.
