Hogmanay• Hogmanay is what the Scots call their
New Year’s Eve celebrations.• Hogmanay’s origins are viking. Norse invaders celebrated the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, with wild parties in late December.

Auld Lang Syne• “Auld Lang Syne” is a poem written by
Robert Burns in 1788 which is traditionally sung as a ‘bid farewell’ to the old year.
• Traditionally people hold hands and sing after midnight to celebrate the new year.
