Welcome to Foundation Stage 2
Starting School and Routines

Arriving at School
• FS2 doors open 8.35am- 8.45am (after this time parents need to enter school via the school office)
• Two members of staff will be on the door every morning to take messages from parents. Children enter FS2 by themselves.
Daily Routines-Start of the session
• The children put their bags, coats and PE kits away in lockers and their pack ups on the trolley.
• They will self register by placing their name on the dinner option they would like - packed lunch, hot dinner or jacket potato.

Free flow activities• Lots of learning opportunities in well planned areas of
provision.

PE• PE will be taught every week.
• PE kits must be brought to school every Monday for the week ahead and will be sent home weekly. Please name all items of clothing.
• If you find that you child has come home with someone else’s kit please return it to school!
• PE kits- white t-shirt, black shorts, trainers. In the cold weather your child may wear tracksuit bottoms and a jumper.
Forest School Kits• Children will need waterproofs and wellies for learning outdoors in
the wet and muddy weather. Wellies will be stored on the wellie racks outside and Forest School kits kept on pegs in the covered FS2 area outside.
• Children attend Forest School once a week.
• Forest School kits must be brought to school every Monday for the week ahead and will be sent home weekly.

Snack
Snack time is done as a whole class.
The children have:
• Fresh fruit and vegetables
• Milk and/or water
• All children will receive a free water bottle in September. Children have access to a water fountain to refill bottles.
Lunchtime
Menus- see hot dinner options. All children in FS2 have a free school meal. They have a choice of hot dinner option or jacket potato.
Pack ups stay on pack up trolley
Class toy diary• Every Friday a child will take the class toy home for
the weekend. They will write in the diary what they have been doing over the weekend and then share this the following week with their learning group.
• Parents can scribe for their child but as they become more confident writers they should be encouraged to do this themselves.
• Photographs and pictures drawn by your child can be added.
Story/Home time
• After a story is read at the end of the day, the children collect all their belongings and get ready for home time.
• Each learning group leaves via a different door onto the FS2 playground.

• Pick up time is 3.10pm – if a different adult is picking up your child please let us know in the morning or call and let the office know.

Further Info...• Please name all items of belongings and clothing! This
includes Forest School kits, wellies, PE kits, school uniform, bookbags, pack lunches and coats.
• Any letters/forms need to be handed in to staff on the door at the beginning of the day when children arrive (rather than kept in your child’s bookbag as they may not be checked every day).
• Please inform your child’s teacher if another parent is picking up your child instead of you.
