How has this affected our curriculum?
● The tests have not changed our curriculum
● Common Core standards are embedded
● We still develop our own programs suited to Westport students
● Will help us identify areas for ongoing curricular and instructional improvements
● Summative Assessment (“non-performance task”) (Online)
● Classroom Activity ○ About 30 minutes long○ Done in the classroom in whole group or small group
setting○ Script and slides for Smartboard are given to teacher
● Performance Task (Online) ○ Must be done after classroom activity

Testing Accommodations
● Students who receive Special Education services may qualify for some accommodations
● Updated with changes in the test● Discussed at PPT/504 meetings
Reporting of Scores
● New system of scoring● Can’t compare to
CMT/CAPT● Anticipating scores could
be “lower” than what we are used to
High School Graduation
● CAPT “Goal” is still required for Science
● CAPT “Goal” for Reading, Writing, Math only applies through Class of 2016.
● ALL students are required to sit for the test beginning with Class of 2016
● Anticipating that State will require a minimum performance level in the future
What stayed the same?
● Students must make-up if they missed test● All students expected to be tested in grades
3-8 and grade 10/11● Students will need lots of rest and other
healthy habits● Testing windows in the morning● Not something students need to study for
A Parting Thought
● This is a snapshot of one point in time● Not the only measure of student success or
how we evaluate students’ needs and growth
Thank You!
● Building Principals will be hosting follow-up coffees● Presentation will be available on the “Parent
Presentations” page of the WPS website tomorrow
