In the Qur’an is a parable of the spider which represents the Mushrikeen who have no manners. The Mushrikeen are associating a partner with Allah subhana wa ta'ala so their manners are not from the highest. Husna al Khuluq comes from the faith – good manners are the fruits of the faith, a provision from Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

Our best example of Husna Khuluq is Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Allah subhana wa ta'ala praised Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam in the Qur’an. He is the best of mankind in khalaq, better than the khalaq itself. Aisha radi-Allahu anha said the manners of Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam were like the Qur’an. The impact of following every ayat in the Qur’an is the akhlaq, this is how Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam was.

Two people may have Husna Khuluq. The one doing Husna Khuluq for the sake of Allah will get the reward. The other one who is good with people for a worldly benefit – this is not considered Husna Khuluq. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam advised us to have Husna Khuluq. Hadith: You need to be with people with good manners. Hadith: Allah subhana wa ta'ala sent Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam for all mankind to perfect and complete the akhlaq.

You will not do it to please people, this will not help you. If you do it because Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam advised us to do it, you will get the reward for that.

Hadith: Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘Everybody want their faith to be the maximum. The one with the best faith is the one with the best manners.

Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam is our Messenger and the most beloved to us and we need to follow him until we reach Paradise. The ones with the best manners will be more beloved to Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam.

You will sit close to Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam on the Day of Judgement. On the Day of Judgement you will be scared so imagine Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam will be close to those with the best manners, they will get this honour. Husna Khuluq means you need to be nice to everybody, people of all ages, if people are nice to you or not nice to you, in all situations you need to be the same. It is not like if they are nice to me I will be nice back to them or if they are bad to me then I will be bad to them. The one with Husna Khalaq never takes revenge. What will make you to be patient? When you remember the virtues of good manners.

Hadith: The one having good manners they will be among the best of the people.

One side of the scale you will have your hasanat and on the other side will be your sins. Husna Khuluq is the most heaviest thing on your scale. Isn’t it worth being patient? Don’t wait for something in return from the people. If you are a believer you should wait for the return from Allah subhana wa ta'ala and look at what Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you.

Imagine a fasting person, fasting not only in the month of Ramadan, and a praying person, praying the night prayer every night. A believer with good conduct will reach the rank of a person fasting and praying the night prayer all the time. Look at Allah subhana wa ta'ala’s generosity when you do a little thing. What is important is your heart, it is not important how much you do. What is important is that you do everything sincerely, exclusively and purely for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Allah subhana wa ta'ala doesn’t want something that you are sharing with somebody else.

Hadith: Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam will guarantee for you a house in the best location in Paradise, the highest place under the Arsh of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. All you need to do is Husna Akhlaq. In Islam the emphasis is on Husna Akhlaq. It should show on the believer otherwise if it doesn’t show on the believer it will create a fitnah.

Husna Khuluq will make a person to enter Paradise. The majority of people who enter paradise are among 2 groups of people in Paradise – the Muttaqun (pious) and those having Husna Akhlaq.

Hadith: Allah subhana wa ta'ala made the nar (fire) forbidden to touch a person who is close to people, easy going & soft hearted. We need to make du’a to Allah subhana wa ta'ala for Hellfire not to touch us.

Don’t waste time in the last ten days of Ramadan. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala make us all to witness Layla tul Qadr. Du’a – Page 60 cont.

Thanking – Allah subhana wa ta'ala will increase for you Remembering - in good and bad Fearing – in all situations. By itself this is an ibadah, to attain Allah subhana wa ta'ala’s Pleasure.

Obey – submitting continuously, never disobeying You Humble – my heart is humbled to You. Your ibadah will be different, in your sujood, your ruku, your standing in front of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, with the people, when alone, you will really be humble to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. This is an honour in itself. It is an honour when you are not humbling or lowering yourself to the people. Your heart is only humble to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, humiliate your heart to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. This is difficult so you make du’a to Allah subhana wa ta'ala to make my heart ‘mukhbitan’. Invoking – invoking by weeping and crying. There is no one else you can turn to. Make me come back to You, return to You repenting. No one else will accept me except You. We all have a title with Allah subhana wa ta'ala and Allah subhana wa ta'ala is the only One for me.

11

Repentance – fulfil all the conditions of the repentance Faults – those I know and which I don’t know. You will be clean from the sins and you will forget your past sins. Invocation – answer and reward me for my invocation. Strength - make me strong when I need it and firm when answering the questions of the grave. Tongue – not to say something bad and to only utter the best in the best place. Heart – to know Allah subhana wa ta'ala, to know the truth, to have all the worship of the heart. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will see your heart on the Day of Judgement. Your reward and punishment will be according to your heart. You will be recompensed according to your heart. Where you will be depends on your heart. Darkness – something so hidden and tiny inside your heart – the sicknesses of the heart. This du’a includes everything, it will be enough to just say this one du’a. Mini Ramadan Bites #22 Friday 10th August 2012.

For all of us reflecting and pondering on the Qur’an InshaAllah will continue after Ramadan. This is Kalamullah, you need to magnify Kalamullah. If you want to speak to Allah subhana wa ta'ala read the Qur’an, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will speak with you. Anything you do with the Qur’an is an Ibadah and the Qur’an guides to the best. No matter how much you talk about the Qur’an you cannot give the Qur’an it’s rights. Chapter (35) sūrat fāṭir (The Originator) 35:29 Indeed, those who recite the Book of Allah and establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never perish - Allah subhana wa ta'ala associates the prayer and the zakat with reading Kalamullah – you need to have hope from Allah subhana wa ta'ala that this is a trade where you will never be a loser, you actions will never be in vain. Reciting the Qur’an is a trade with Allah subhana wa ta'ala where you are hoping for the reward from Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

13

Imagine the rewards of reading surat al Fathiha, or reading one page of the Qur’an.

On the Day of Judgement you need someone to defend you, to intercede for you, the Qur’an will intercede for you on the Day of Judgement.

In the beginning you may read the Qur’an without the meaning, then will read the Qur’an with the meaning, then you will start pondering and reflecting. This is how you need to take the Qur’an and you need to take it seriously. Hadith: Allah subhana wa ta'ala will elevate people in rank and Allah subhana wa ta'ala will honour some people because of their Qur’an. Some people may not have much wealth but because of the way they honoured the Qur’an, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will honour them and put the love of the people in their hearts. They will be honoured because of Kalamullah. You will feel this is a blessing, the blessing that this is from Allah subhana wa ta'ala and a blessing you have the Qur’an in your hands and you can read His words.

The recitor of the Qur’an enters Paradise, but which level will they be? Hadith: It will be said to him read, recite and elevate how you used to recite in the dunya. Your rank and your place in Paradise will be where you recited the last verse / ayah. Which ayah will Allah subhana wa ta'ala make you to remember? The ayah you are currently memorising, you know the meaning and you are acting upon it in your life and this ayah is inside your heart, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will make you to remember this ayah on the Day of Judgement. The Qur’an is our life, the Qur’an should change our life, the Qur’an should go to our heart and this is the reward for remembering the verses of the Qur’an. Everything in the Day of Judgement is not because I wanted to do it. If were asked to recite surat al Fatihah right now you will do it as you have a will, the ability. But on the Day of Judgement you don’t have a will, you will be directed, even with the recitation of the Qur’an. Who will make you to recite the Qur’an? Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam was asking the sahabah if they wanted a camel. Everybody said yes they would as camels were very valuable. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam told them ‘If one of you goes to the masjid and he will learn one ayah, this is better than one she camel, if you learn two ayat is better than two she camels, if you learn three ayat this is better than three she camels – this is better in reward. Today people kill each other for the dunya, the worldly things. When learning the Qur’an the reward will be better than this life.

Hadith: Those who learn and teach are the best among you. When you learn and teach the Qur’an you will be among the best with Allah subhana wa ta'ala. If you learn one ayah and then teach it somebody, share it with them, Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘You will among the best people’.

16

You may feel you don’t know the Tajweed or you don’t have a good voice – don’t be discouraged. Hadith: One group will read and recite the Qur’an expertly. Those people will be with an ambassador, among the honourable and the righteous – these are the Angels. The Angels are the best worshippers of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. The angel Jibril alaihi as-salaam sent the Qur’an upon Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘The one who is reading the Qur’an on the Day of Judgement, they will be among the angels’. For some people reciting the Qur’an is difficult, i.e. a beginner may have poor pronunciation, no tune etc. but they will get double the reward, one reward for reading and one reward for struggling. Don’t be discouraged and don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Don’t seek the praise of the people or the teacher. You want to please Allah subhana wa ta'ala with your Qur’an, this is the taqwa, to guard your heart. People won’t appreciate your pronunciation or your recitation but Allah subhana wa ta'ala will appreciate it so much. Chapter (14) sūrat ib'rāhīm (Abraham) 14:1 Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy – The Qur’an is the light, with the Qur’an you will get the light, it will take out from the darkness into the light. Out of the darkness of disobedience into the light of the obedience. Out of the darkness of the sins into the light of the worship. Out of the darkness of ignorance and into the light of the knowledge. The more you take the Qur’an the more you will have the light. This light will be with you in the grave, the grave is so dark but what will give it the light is your

Qur’an. On the Day of Judgement, crossing the siratt to Paradise it is dark, the Qur’an will give you the light. The Qur’an is the light in the dunya, in the grave and in the akhirah.

Hadith: The Qur’an will come on the Day of Judgment and the Qur’an will talk on your behalf infront of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. The Qur’an will say ‘O my Lord Beautify him’. And on his head will be placed a crown of honour. The Qur’an will not be satisfied ‘O my Lord honour him more’. Then he will wear a gown of honour. On the Day of Resurrection everyone will be resurrected naked and everyone will wear a gown according to their amal etc., but with Qur’an there is a special crown and a special gown.

Hadith cont. The Qur’an will say ‘O Allah be pleased with him, I want more’. You will get the Pleasure of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. When Allah subhana wa ta'ala is pleased with you this is more than Paradise itself, when your Creator is happy with you and pleased with what you did. The Qur’an will make du’a for you and intercede for you on the Day of Judgement.

On the Day of Judgement will be brought forward the recitor of the Qur’an and the memorizer of the Qur’an and those who acted upon the Qur’an and his parents will be given a crown of light and a gown of light. When you recite and memorize the Qur’an your parents will get this honour and if your children recite and memorize the Qur’an you will get this honour. Don’t leave the Qur’an. Make the Qur’an your life, make the Qur’an your companion, this is Kalamullah, this is the word of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, every ayat are messages from Allah subhana wa ta'ala, every ayah will increase you in faith. You need to have the intention, you may not live to finish the Qur’an. Ya Rabbi I want to among those who know everything in the Qur’an, Ya Rabbi I want to be among those who ponder and reflect upon the Qur’an. With this intention even if you did not finish the Qur’an, even if you did only one ayah, you will still get the honour. Dealing with Allah subhana wa ta'ala is not like dealing with partners and slaves, dealing with Allah subhana wa ta'ala is that He can do for you, Allah is so Generous and so Perfect.

Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘His special people, Ahlullah are the people of the Qur’an.

Everything in Islam is based upon your intention then Allah subhana wa ta'ala will make it easy for you to acquire the knowledge, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will it easy for you to ponder upon the Qur’an, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will make it easy for you to memorise the Qur’an.

Reform – maybe there is a problem between people, hatred or jealousy. Guide – the path of guidance, make it ‘Salam’ – free from afflictions, misguidance, destruction until we reach Dar ul Islam. Most of the practices regarding the surah of the Qur’an are not based on authentic hadith or weak hadith. Chapter (1) sūrat l-fātiḥah (The Opening)

Page 23: New Sister Eman al Obaid  · 2013. 2. 23. · establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never

Hadith: While Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla and Jibril alaihi as-salaam were sitting together and they hear a knock. Two lights came down from heaven. One was surat al Fatihah. Surat al Fatihah came by a door of heaven which had never been opened before. A special Angel came with it and it is a light. (see below for the second light).

Surat al Fatihah is exclusively and especially for Ummat Muhammad. Hadith:

When the servant in prayer is saying:

Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameena 1:2 [All] praise is [due] to Allah , Lord of the worlds -

Allah subhana wa ta'ala will reply My servant is praising Me

Alrrahmani alrraheemi My servant is much praising Me

1:3 The Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful, Maliki yawmi alddeeni 1:4 Sovereign of the Day of Recompense.

My servant is Glorifying Me and Magnifying Me

Iyyaka naAAbudu waiyyaka nastaAAeenu 1:5 It is You we worship and You we ask for help.

This is between Me and My servant and whatever My servant asks for I will grant it.

Ihdina alssirata almustaqeema Sirata allatheena anAAamta AAalayhim ghayri almaghdoobi AAalayhim wala alddalleena 1:6 Guide us to the straight path – 1:7 The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have evoked [Your] anger or of those who are astray.

This is for My servant and I will grant him that.

Allah subhana wa ta'ala will grant you your invocation – your invocation to be on the straight path.

If you read surah al Fatihah seven times on the place of pain it will be a cure. But you need to have Yaqin and ponder on the meaning. Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow)

Page 25: New Sister Eman al Obaid  · 2013. 2. 23. · establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never

25

Don’t make your houses like graveyards – where Allah subhana wa ta'ala is not remembered and there is no mention or recitation of the ayat of the Qur’an.

Reading surat al Baqarah with meaning and action will be a blessing. Leaving it will be a regret and no magic can touch it. These are the virtues of the surah, not the Sunnah. Aytul Kursi

Page 26: New Sister Eman al Obaid  · 2013. 2. 23. · establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never

Ramadan Mini Bites – Part 5 Day 21 - 25

26

Reading Aytul Kursi after every obligatory prayer will make a person to enter Paradise as soon as they die. Nothing will prevent him from entering Paradise except death. The last 2 verses surat al Baqarah Reading these 2 ayat before sleeping they will be sufficient for you – it will take away all the worries, solve all your problems, all your worries of the dunya and the akhirah. This is also the light when Jibril alaihi as-salaam and Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla were sitting together – the gates of heaven opened and a special angel descended with the last 2 ayat of surat al Baqarah. Chapter (2) sūrat l-baqarah (The Cow) & Chapter (3) sūrat āl ʿim'rān (The Family of Imrān)

Reading with reflection, understanding and pondering. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla said the name of these two surah’s is Al-Zahrahwan – two types of flowers. On the Day of Judgement they will come like 2 clouds, they will shade the person and they will intercede for the person. Al Musabbihat

Al Musabbihat are the Surah which begin with tasbih – yusabbihu, sabbaha, subhana

Chapter (59) sūrat l-ḥashr (The Gathering)

Chapter (62) sūrat l-jumuʿah (Friday)

Chapter (64) sūrat l-taghābun (Mutual Loss & Gain)

Chapter (87) sūrat l-aʿlā (The Most High) Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla used to read some of them before he slept – in them there is an ayah better than a thousand ayat. All the hadith regarding surat Yasin are weak hadith or not authentic. People who are busy doing things which are not authentic is a waste. Chapter (18) sūrat l-kahf (The Cave)

Surat al Kahf is about the protection from the trials. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla said the one who memorises the first ten ayat of surat al Kahf, they will be a protection and a shield from the Dajjal. One who reads surat al Kahf on Friday – after Maghrib prayer of Thursday to Asr prayer of Friday – will have the light on the Day of Judgement. The light from your place on Earth to Mecca. Or the light between two Friday’s. Reading the last 10 ayat - the Dajjal will not harm him. Chapter (67) sūrat l-mulk (Dominion)

Reading surat al Mulk at night before sleeping will be a protection from the punishment of the grave. Chapter (109) sūrat l-kāfirūn (The Disbelievers)

Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla sometimes used to read surat al Kafirun before sleeping. Chapter (112) sūrat l-ikhlāṣ (Sincerity)

In surat al Ikhlas Allah subhana wa ta'ala is identifying Himself to us. This is a definition of Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

For simple deeds which follow the sunnat of Nabi ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla you will get abundant rewards from Allah subhana wa ta'ala – not a house but a palace. Al Mu’wawdhat

Chapter (112) sūrat l-ikhlāṣ (Sincerity) Chapter (113) sūrat l-falaq (The Daybreak) Chapter (114) sūrat l-nās (Mankind) For any worries of the dunya and the akhirah, they will be sufficient for you. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will take care of all your worries. Reading the other surah is from weak hadith. Du’a – page 63

Steadfastness – to be firm in all my affairs. To be firm in the religion, to be the best in the dunya and the akhirah. I need thabaat in the qabr when I will be asked the questions of the grave, I need thabaat on the siratt so as not to fall. You ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Adhere – a will and determination to be on the path of guidance. Mercy – grant me the words and deeds and the characteristics for which I will deserve Your mercy. Forgiveness – provide for me all the deeds and utterances and characteristics that will take me to the forgiveness, because sometimes we forget to ask for the forgiveness.

Grateful – to thank you and be grateful Worship – ihsan in my worship, with excellence Pure Heart – purify my heart from all the sicknesses, a pure and clean heart Truthful Tongue – protection from cheating, lying, back biting etc.

Goodness – You know what is good for me. This is relying on Allah subhana wa ta'ala. TawakkulAllah. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa salla said ‘If you see people are saving a treasure, you save this treasure’. This du’a is like a treasure. Evil – Forgiveness – maybe I make mistakes or have shortcomings All Knower – praising Allah subhana wa ta'ala Mini Ramadan Bites #24 Sunday 12th August 2012. You have a duty to fulfil towards all the people around you.

In several verses in the Qur’an Allah subhana wa ta'ala mentions you need to worship Allah subhana wa ta'ala and then how you need to be dutiful to your parents. Whether your parents are Muslim or non Muslim they have these rights. When you are dutiful to your parents you are fulfilling the commands of Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

People without a faith or far away from the guidance they misunderstand the duties towards their parents, they are not doing it for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. When you fulfil the rights of your parents you are obeying Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Sometimes people are good and sometimes they are not, why? Because they are not doing it for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. The main thing is Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Especially with your parents, it is Wasiya min Allah subhana wa ta'ala – a command from Allah subhana wa ta'ala, something you need to fulfil, an advice from Allah subhana wa ta'ala. You need to deal with you parents with Ihsan, the best. You need to deal with your parents better than anyone else.

The sahabah asked Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam ‘Which of the deeds is the most beloved to Allah subhana wa ta'ala?’

- to pray on time - to be the best with your parents - to struggle for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala

One man came to Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam and asked ‘Who is the one among all the people who have the most rights I need to accompany?’ Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘your mother’. The man asked ‘then whom?’ Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘your mother’. The man asked ‘then whom?’ Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘your mother’. The man asked ‘then whom?’ Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘your father’. The rights of the mother are more, she is more emotional and needs the love, she appreciates the love.

One man came to Prophet ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam and said ‘I want to struggle for the Sake of Allah.’ Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam asked ‘do you have parents?’ The man replied ‘Yes, I do’. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘Don’t go to the jihad, stay with your parents, this is your jihad.’ Why is this a jihad? When they grow older they are impatient etc. you need a jihad, it is a struggle to be patient with them. Chapter (17) sūrat l-isrā (The Night Journey)

17:23 And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word.

When in distress, those who are dutiful to their parents, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will release them from their distress.

Story: Three people were travelling until they came to a rock. The rock blocked the entrance to a cave. All three decided they needed to invoke Allah subhana wa ta'ala to relieve them of their distress by invoking Allah subhana wa ta'ala from the best of their deeds. One of them said he was so dutiful to his parents that he would rather not give food to his own children, even they were hungry until his parents woke up. Allah subhana wa ta'ala relived them of their distress and the rock moved away from the entrance of the cave. How will a rock move? If you are making taqwa towards your parents Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be with you and relieve you of your distress.

This is generally for the relatives but your parents have the most rights of all the relatives. Hadith: If you want Allah subhana wa ta'ala to enlarge you provision, to bless your time and your life, you need to connect with kith and kin. If you visit your parents, call your parents etc. they will appreciate the smallest thing you do for them. If you are married your husband has more rights than your parents. You need to encourage your husband to be good to his parents and you will get the reward. You need to open the gates of good for your husband. If you are pleasing Allah subhana wa ta'ala everyone will be pleased with you. You are dealing with Allah subhana wa ta'ala, you are not dealing with people, the people are a test in your life. Some people have a hard time with their parents or in-laws. In this you really need to make a jihad and struggle for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala and remember the barakah Allah subhana wa ta'ala will give you when you do that.

38

One man came to Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam ’My mother wanted to do tawwaf so I carried her on my back.’ He asked Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam ‘did I fulfil the rights of my mother?’ Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘You need to do this and you did not give the right of even one labour pain which she faced’. People give the responsibility of their old parents to others. While you were young who took care of you? Your mother and your father. When you do something for your parents don’t expect thanks, you are doing it for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, you are doing it because Allah subhana wa ta'ala commanded you, you are doing it for your own good. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said: ‘If you are not giving thanks to people who did good to you, it is as if you are not grateful to Allah subhana wa ta'ala’. If you give thanks to people this is as if you are thanking Allah subhana wa ta'ala and praising Allah subhana wa ta'ala, this will make the relationships strong.

This is for the fathers. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘If you will make your father pleased with you, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be pleased with you.’ In Islam the relationships should be strong. How will the relationships be strong? When you know the virtues, when you know your duties with the virtues and you do it for Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Being Undutiful to Your Parents

39

This is one of the major sins.

Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam is invoking against those people – if you were not dutiful to your parents and they didn’t take you to Paradise.

Page 40: New Sister Eman al Obaid  · 2013. 2. 23. · establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never

40

People who are undutiful to their parents by whatever they do, they are mean to them, bad to them, they have no manners with them, they put them down. You need to be careful when you sit with them, walk with them, with their opinions. Being good to your parents is one gate of Paradise. If your parents have passed away you need to make istighfar, you can do du’a, sadaqa, Hajj and Umrah for them. If your parents are alive don’t loose this chance.

Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘Allah subhana wa ta'ala forbade Paradise from those people undutiful to their parents’. He will not enter paradise for how long? Until he is purified.

Allah subhana wa ta'ala will not look at them on the Day of Judgement. We all want to see Allah on the Day of Judgement. It is an honour that Allah subhana wa ta'ala will see His slaves.

For the sin of being undutiful to your parents Allah subhana wa ta'ala will hasten the punishment in the life before the Hereafter. For other sins Allah subhana wa ta'ala may punish you in the akhirah. Du’a - page 62

42

Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘This du’a is the truth, you need to study it well’.

Good – to make it easy for you to do the good deeds, different types of ibadah, all types of good. Evil – make it easy for you to leave the sins and protect you from the evil. Poor – to put the love of the poor in my heart. They have nothing to share with you so you really love them only for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Forgive – all my sins, conceal my sins, don’t punish me for my sins, have mercy on me. Repentance – make me to repent when I make a mistake and accept my repentance.

43

Trial – in the religion or an affliction, take my soul, cause me to die. You prefer death without falling into the trap of the trial. For some people the trial will affect their deen, their worship, etc.

Your Love – put the love of Allah subhana wa ta'ala in my heart and I ask Allah subhana wa ta'ala for His love, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will love me, you will be loved by Allah subhana wa ta'ala. You will be the ‘beloved one’ to Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Love You – the ambiya, the righteous people, the scholars, the ulema etc, make me to love them, pure love for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Anyone who loves Allah subhana wa ta'ala, make me to also love them. Love Deeds – that make me close to Allah subhana wa ta'ala, close to Your love. There are deeds which if you do them, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will love you so you want to love these deeds which are difficult for you. Put the love of these deeds which will take me to Your love, put it in my heart. You need to show you are really in need of everything in these du’a’s and you need to feel in His Hands is the ability to fulfil your needs and the du’a of Nabi ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam

are the best of the du’a. If you memorize just one du’a it will be enough for you for your whole life. Quality before quantity, focus on the quality. Mini Ramadan Bites #25 Monday 13th August 2012. To be rich in Ramadan is with the intention. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said all the Muslims are one body, they support each other. This is with the belief and will be ever lasting.

Those who are sick, Muslim or non Muslim, young or old, you should visit them for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala and not because you are afraid of them or to show off or because they visited you when your were sick.

Page 45: New Sister Eman al Obaid  · 2013. 2. 23. · establish prayer and spend [in His cause] out of what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, [can] expect a profit that will never

Ramadan Mini Bites – Part 5 Day 21 - 25

45

It is haq (rights), fard, fardu kifiyah – if a group of people went to visit the sick person, that person is supported then this will be enough. Even if one person goes this is as if he went on behalf of all the Muslims.

If a Muslim visited a Muslim brother while sick Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said ‘He will have a garden in Paradise’.

If you visited a sick person or a sister for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala a caller will call you and say “You will be purified and your steps will be purified. You will dwell and settle in a place in Jannah”. If you have the intention, just a small change in you, to do something for the Sake of Allah subhana wa ta'ala, hoping for the reward from Allah subhana wa ta'ala, Allah Al Kareem will shower you with these virtues. In Islam the smallest thing has a value.

If a Muslim visits a sick Muslim in the morning 70,000 angels will make du’a for you until the evening. If a Muslim will visits a sick Muslim in the evening 70,000 angels will make du’a for you until the morning.

Hadith: Allah subhana wa ta'ala, He will say on the Day of Judgement to somebody “Oh son of Adam, I was sick but you did not visit Me’. The slave will say ‘How will I visit You, You are Rabbil Alameen’. Allah subhana wa ta'ala will say ‘Don’t you know if so and so is sick and you visit them, you will find Me with them’. For the sick person who is alone, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will be with them. Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam said to the sahabah ‘If a sick person cannot eat and drink, don’t force them to eat and drink because Allah subhana wa ta'ala is feeding him and giving him water. This is the care of Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

47

When you sit and talk to a sick person you will be drowned in the mercy of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. Give them hope don’t make your visit a burden.

Hadith: when you visit a sick person you make a du’a for that person seven times ‘Oh Allah I ask You, You are the Great and You are the Lord of the Great Throne to cure you’. You are invoking Allah subhana wa ta'ala by His Greatness, supplicating by Allah subhana wa ta'ala’s Greatness to cure the sick person. Or you can say ‘May Allah subhana wa ta'ala purify you’.

48

When you visit someone who is sick or visit someone in hospital remember the blessings of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. You see how people are suffering and you remember Allah subhana wa ta'ala’s blessings upon you. If you are healthy you need to thank Allah subhana wa ta'ala.

Still we are in the last ten nights of Ramadan, continue to make du’a. Whatever you are doing Allah subhana wa ta'ala will appreciate it. Even with your food and drink renew your intention, I am having the food and drink to give me the strength to do the ibadah. If you sleep for a little while have the intention that this is to give me the strength for the ibadah. Du’a – page 56 This dua will help you against the Munafiqeen – help you not to be among the Munafiqeen.

Light – we need the light, the munafiqeen, the kafireen or mushrikeen don’t have the light. The worst is the munafiqeen because they were given the light and they took away the light. This du’a is said in the masjid for Isha or Fajr prayer. You can also say it in your sujood, before the salaam, before you break your fast, anytime.

50

Heart – give me the light which is the knowledge, the guidance, loving Allah subhana wa ta'ala, a firm belief. Tongue – You will only utter what is good, pearls of wisdom illuminating around you. Hearing – You will understand in order to increase your faith. Sight – to increase me in my faith.

Below and above Right and left In front and behind You will be protected from all directions You are surrounded by the light and no one can give you the light except Allah subhana wa ta'ala. This is a protection from the places where shaitan can whisper. You are protected from shaitan, the harms, the evils, from people etc. and the darkness will disappear. The more you seek the light in the life the more you will get the light in the grave and on the Day of Judgement. You are calling Allah to give you the light from all directions.

Soul – including all your limbs, body and soul so there is no place for darkness. You are not asking for the darkness to be removed. When the light comes the darkness will disappear.

When you are surrounded by the light, the guidance, Allah subhana wa ta'ala will it easy for you to learn, to worship, to do ibadah, the knowledge, the faith will be firm and strong. Abundant – lots of light. Man cannot write such beautiful du’a’s. Allah subhana wa ta'ala inspired Prophet Muhammad ṣallallāhu ‘alayhi wa sallam to say this du’a. If Allah subhana wa ta'ala does not give the light, no one else can give the light. This is the light of Allah subhana wa ta'ala. May Allah subhana wa ta'ala increase everybody in light, and may Allah subhana wa ta'ala protect you with this light. When you have this light there is no way of the darkness. AlhamduliLlahi Rabbil Alameen. We ask Allah subhana wa ta’ala for His forgiveness and His Mercy. Anything that is good from these notes is from Allah

subhana wa ta’ala. Any mistakes & misrepresentations are my own. I ask Allah subhana wa ta’ala for His forgiveness and to

put forgiveness in the hearts of those who read them. JazakAllah Khairan.
