New Requirements for Reporting Chapter 11 Cases

MR. DARR is a Managing Director in Huron's Boston office. He has more than 35 years of experience providing accounting, auditing and financial consulting services to business organizations experiencing significant financial and operating difficulties. His industry experience includes law and professional services firms, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, energy, automotive, real estate/construction, mortgages/derivatives, telecommunications, and manufacturing and distribution. Mr. Darr's experience also includes providing litigation support and expert testimony in bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy matters involving preference and fraudulent conveyance actions, professional liability claims, patent infringement, royalty and intellectual property disputes, construction claims, wrongful employment discharge and lender liability and business tort claims. He has testified in U.S. Bankruptcy Court proceedings in Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont on a wide range of bankruptcy matters. Mr. Darr is a Fellow in the American College of Bankruptcy and a Board Member and Distinguished Fellow of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.

New Requirements for Reporting Chapter 11 Cases

WILLIAM K. HARRINGTON is the United States Trustee for Region 1 and Region 2. Mr. Harrington was appointed as the United States Trustee for Region 1 on November 8, 2010 and as the United States Trustee for Region 2 on November 26, 2013. Prior to his appointment as the United States Trustee for Region 1, Mr. Harrington was the Assistant United States Trustee for the District of Delaware. Prior to joining the Office of the United States Trustee, he practiced bankruptcy and reorganization law at Duane Morris LLP. Mr. Harrington is a member of the Boston Bar Association, the Delaware State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute and the Delaware Bankruptcy American Inn of Court. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law

MATTHEW SCHWARTZ is the co-managing partner of the insolvency and litigation services division of Bederson LLP, a New Jersey-based accounting and advisory firm. His responsibilities include all aspects of forensic engagements including bankruptcy, insolvency, fraud, damages, and tax matters. Testifying in Federal and State Courts in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware, Mr. Schwartz has been retained by Trustees, Secured Creditors, Creditors’ Committees, Debtors, Plaintiffs, and Defendants and has served as Liquidating Agent and CRO. In his work investigating and uncovering defalcations leading to recoveries and arrests, he received recognition from the FBI for his work on New Jersey Affordable Housing, one of the largest real estate fraud cases in New Jersey’s history. He has completed the New Jersey Association of Professional Mediators’ Civil Mediation Training Program and its Civil Mediation Apprenticeship. He is a member of the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Turnaround Management Association, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, where he served as president from 2014-2015, and received the Emanuel M. Katten Award for his service. Mr. Schwartz serves as Board Chairman of Alzheimer’s New Jersey. He earned a B.A. in economics from the University of Virginia with Distinction and an MBA in accounting from Rutgers University, where he was graduation keynote speaker for the 2017 class in the Professional Accounting MBA program.

New Requirements for Reporting Chapter 11 Cases

ANDY VARA is the United States Trustee for Regions 3 and 9, which encompass ten field offices in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan. Recently, he served as Assistant United States Trustee in Cleveland, Ohio. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Justice for more than 27 years, serving as a trial attorney, Assistant U.S. Trustee in Wilmington, Delaware and the Acting Assistant U.S. Trustee in both the Southern District of New York and Western District of Michigan. Following law school, Andy clerked for Hon. Laurence Howard, Chief Judge for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Grand Rapids. Andy is a regular faculty member and lecturer at training seminars held at the National Advocacy Center in Columbia, South Carolina. He has been a panelist at numerous American Bankruptcy Institute (ABI) conferences including the Spring and Winter Meetings, Mid-Atlantic Bankruptcy Institute, and Central States Bankruptcy Workshop. He was a member of the ABI's Ethics Task Force and chaired the ABI's committee on Ethics and Professional Compensation. Andy served as a presenter on U.S. and international insolvency law at forums sponsored by the Commercial Law Development Program in Bahrain and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Andy received his Juris Doctor with honors from The Ohio State University in May 1991 and was awarded membership in the Order of the Coif. He performed his undergraduate studies at Duke University, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science. Andy resides in Solon, Ohio. He and his wife have been married for twenty-nine years and have three children.
