The Ten Tiny, Spooky Ghosts are looking for their little dog.When the Ten Tiny, Spooky Ghosts play hide-and-seek with Chilli, their little dog, every nook and cranny of the old castle is thoroughly searched. From the chicken coop to the battlements, there‘s no stone left unturned. But try as they might, it takes them forever to find their canine friend.

Then, though, the Ghosts turn the tables on him, hiding themselves. Chilli is baf-fled. Where have his friends got to? Only when the reader lowers the drawbridge on the very last page, all ten Ghosts re-appear – and there‘s cake for everybody!

Cream cake for everybody!The Bear is stirring cake dough enthusi-astically. And who‘s looking over his shoulder? The Mouse, the Rabbit and the Cat are watching his every move through the kitchen window. It‘s very clear they want their share of the fan-tastic cream cake he‘s making.

But before it‘s ready, each of the three animals has its own ideas about what should be added to the dough. While the Rabbit craves carrots, the Cat prefers herring and the Mouse wants maize kernels. Of course, this results in a most unusual layer cake – which, amazingly, makes everyone happy in the end!

You can do sports in all kinds of places; you can get some exercise and play practically anywhere: in the water, in the park, in the schoolyard, at the ice rink or in the football or sports stadium. The sports and games played in the hidden object pictures are just as varied. There is a whole palette of sports pictured, be it trampoline jumping, tug-of-war, jugg-ling or swimming, rock-climbing, cycling or sack-races. The pictures encourage children to take a closer look and try to

find out what is happening to Hugo, where the child in the polo-neck jumper is and what a group of children in num-bered T-shirts are up to.

Marc Locatelli was a sports enthusiast even as a child. Equally early, he began to draw, with sports scenes still his fa-vourite subject. He is a qualified graphic designer who lives and works in Zurich.

Iris Wewer, born in Cuxhaven, studied communications design in Wiesbaden. Her first picture book was published in 2009: 'Me and My Wild Sister'.'7 Grumbling Grumblies and One Pig', a picture book as well, published in 2013, was awarded the prestigious 'Leipziger Lesekompass' children's book prize.

Stefanie Jeschke studied visual com-munications at the Bauhaus University inWeimar. Since 2012, she has been working as a freelance illustrator in her studio. There, she paints, draws and in-vents fat cats, hyperactive squirrels and anything else necessary to populate children‘s and YA books. Her witty illus-trations have been part of many suc-cessful children‘s books and series, e.g. ‚Animal Ghosts Ltd.‘ (4 volumes).

Luke and the Niggle Pigs

There’s been a kidnapping at the board-ing school, Gabriel and his friends need a lot of courage.

One evening, young Gabriel the guardian angel sees Madame Longbec receiving visitors. What business can the Cloud Castle headmistress have with those two shady characters? With his friend Aurora, Gabriel begins to investigate. And when Madame Longbec gets kid-napped everybody is scandalized. She must be saved. But that’s a tall order.Madame Longbec’s abductor, Dr Mar-falach, has recently been fired from his job as principal of the Goetheburg Boarding School for Angels.

He is spending large sums of money buying up schools, which then have do adopt his outdated teaching methods and opinions. And now he wants Cloud Castle.Gabriel and Aurora set out for Dr Mar-falach’s castle. On their way, they have to deal with the Fog of Fear, the Lying Compass Roses and the Cyclone of In-sanity. In the breathtaking finale, things seem to be getting literally too hot for them to handle and they have to call in Lucy the she-devil to help them out.

Sunil Mann, was born the son of Indian immigrants in the Bernese Oberland. He lives in Zurich. His debut novel ’Fang-schuss – Coup de Grâce’, introducing ethnic Indian private eye Vijay Kumar, was awarded the Zürcher Krimipreis – Zurich Thriller Prize in the year of 2011. ’New Friends for Gabriel’ with Gabriel is Sunil Mann’s second novel for children.

Minna McMaster (her pen name) worked at a kindergarten specialising in speech therapy before writing her first chil-dren’s books. Her title ’Im Dunkeln - In the Dark’, illustrated by Julia Duerr, won a prize from Stiftung Buchkunst as one of the most beautiful German picture books of 2008.

Astrid Henn graduated in visual com-munications and worked as an art direc-tor for several advertising agencies in Hamburg. She then became a freelance designer and illustrator. Her books have been published with great success by various well-known publishing houses.

Tine Schulz, born in Anklam in 1981, first trained as a media designer and worked for several design studios and publishing houses before finally getting around to studying communication de–sign at Hochschule Wismar. Since then she has been living on the Baltic coast, working as a freelance illustrator out of Rostock.

Ida Goose, Flora Cow, Marlon Mouse, Thelma Goat and Otto Pig have been left a restaurant in a beauty spot by their parents. Frank Kaufmann, born in 1967, studied German philology, didactics and Roma-nian in Zurich. He worked as assistant producer and dramatic advisor in the independent theatre scene. For the Uni-versity of Zurich he has co-develop con-cepts for tuition. He works as a free writer and a staff member of the Lan-guage Center of the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich. His picture book ’Waschbär feiert Ge-burtstag’, which was illustrated by Vanya Nastanlieva has been published by Atlantis, an imprint of Orell Füssli Verlag in 2012.

Ten Tiny, Spooky Ghosts – Who’s afraid of the gloomy Ghost?

If you keep your eyes open, are curious and use your imagination, you’ll always have interesting stories to tell.Sarah is a pert and inquisitive girl living in a little town by the sea with her par-ents. Carsten Otte was born in Bonn in 1972 and studied philosophy. He has written several novels and non-fiction books, all of them much reviewed, the latest of these being a bestseller about men in the kitchen, published by Campus Verlag. ’Sarah and the Sea’ is his first children’s book – it is the result of a grant from the Schleswig-Holsteinisches Künstlerhaus Eckernförde. Otte lives in Baden-Baden with his wife and their child.

Christine Brand, born in the Ore Moun-tains, spent most of her time at school daydreaming, trained as an industrial seamstress, then fled to the Kunsthoch-schule Berlin-Weissensee to study for a degree in fashion design.She taught at the Fachschule für ange-wandte Kunst in Schneeberg and has been a freelance illustrator since 1988. She lives and works in Leipzig and on the island of La Gomera.

Tsozo and his parents move from their village to another country where every-thing is new, especially the language. He does not understand the foreign words, he is sad and longing for his old home. On the phone, his grandma advises him, ’Open your eyes, prick up your ears, be patient, and the new language will come to you.’ A new language is like a wild mustang, she also says. Thanks to her, Tsozo does not give up. It takes him a lot of patience and careful study to finally tame the new words.

In the playground, Tsozo meets three children and learns his first words. A short while later, his new friends face a dangerous situation, and his grandma is proven right: Tsozo can make himself understood in his new language and get help.

Beate Fahrnländer was born in Leipzig in 1965, gaining her first experience with painting and graphics early on, at the lo-cal Hochschule für Grafik und Buch-kunst. She studied graphic design in Berlin and Paris, focusing on illustra-tion. After spending four years in the US, she now lives in Lörrach with her family.

Bernd Lehmann was born in Cologne in 1982. He studied illustration in Münster. Since getting his degree in the summer of 2009, Bernd Lehmann has been work-ing as a freelance illustrator for several children’s book publishers, among other projects. After some years in Berlin and Cologne, he now lives in Seoul, South Korea, with his wife.
